Delicious Swiss brat. Quick lunch for the win. Also, one of the more friendly staff that I have encountered in Vail. I would recommend.

Get their hot dog! It was absolutely delicious and very filling. A nice place to stop by whether you've been on the slopes or just walking through the town. My only complaint is that the inside is kind of small. Luckily, when we came in, another group was leaving so we were able to get seated. read more

As others have stated, they seem to always be out of ingredients. We came in for lunch at 11:15am and they were basically out of everything but the ingredients to make their Swiss Dog. The brats are incredibly thin and dry. That is due to the fact that they are left cooking on a griddle until ordered. I got the Swiss hot dog and I must say that the taste is very close to hot dogs one can get in my home country of Austria (next to Switzerland). The hot dogs are pretty authentic. The sausages are high quality, the bread is toasted to perfection, and they put in the right amount of curry. The arugula rounds out the taste nicely. I wish I could take The Blü Cow with me wherever I go! I had such a great experience there that my other caps are jealous of my Blü Cow cap! What more can you ask for? It's not a pretentious snooty joint, there's plenty of other places for that. What you get at the Blü Cow is a down-home, cool staff that is warm and friendly with an owner that's an ex-FIS racer! The sausage there is akin to what I'd get in Austria and the beer selection is great.. I always dive headfirst into Weißbier after skiing, and they had Schneider Weisse, Erdinger, etc. The only downside to The Blü Cow is that you may wake late for a pow day because of too much fun there the night before! We got engaged this weekend in Vail and we have never been better accommodated! These guys treated us like family, offered us the best drinks Vail can offer, and provided seat warmers, free merch, shots for the engagement party, and went out of there way to make sure we had a special time. Off the hook!!! Having studied in Switzerland, I enjoyed many Swiss, German, etc hot dogs, sausages and brats. The Swiss Hot Dog and the jalapeño cheddar brat were amazing! We stumbled into this place thinking it was the deli next door, and it's been our favorite Vail lunch spot ever since. Easy access from the slopes, reasonable prices (this is Vail, after all) and terrific food and drinks. The staff is terrific: they are conscientious and hard-working and promote a play-hard atmosphere. Chris runs the place like he has a vested interest and the line cook is never distracted from the food, even when joking with customers. read more

We had a reservation at the place across the street so we ducked in here for a few minutes. You can see the Cook line from where we are standing and we started talking with the cook. Did not get his name unfortunately. He was very friendly and actually gave us a complimentary drink, a hot toddy, that my wife really enjoyed. Food looked and smelled great. Have been coming to the Vail valley since 1993. Love the Swiss hot dog. Yesterday when we found this place, we immediately ordered two hot dogs, 2 cokes and one bag of chips -32 bucks! Since the hot dog is less than $9.00 what was the expense ?? A less than friendly hostess/manager informed us that this is Vail. What a lame excuse for overpriced chips and soft drinks. She then suggested I should guess how much she had to pay to rent out here. Really???? Certainly didn't make my experience enjoyable. Simply amazing. Highly recommend making a reservation. Usually booked out for weeks unless you have a good connection. Ask the sommelier for recommendations, the wine list is extensive and difficult to navigate. The menu features a number of world famous dishes, but I highly recommend ordering the hot dog. It's not on the menu but it's their specialty. I think their chef used to be the exec at Eleven Madison Park, and the owner is a shy recluse, she's very modest and rarely shows her face, but clearly a genius. read more

I've visited it now in 3 different locations, but they always deliver. They no longer serve sprouts but arugula on the dogs, fine by me and a good substitute. I'm glad they have beer now. The first time ever here I asked for ketchup as a kid, I was handed mustard after the owner scoffed and it's the only way to go. read more

Very disappointing as a lunch spot. The menu was very limited, just hot dogs and chicken soup. The hot dogs were cold. The buns were barely warmed over, definitely not toasted as one would expect. Sprouts, one of the few choices of added ingredients for the hot dogs, were not available. The small cup of chicken soup was tasty but thin; few vegetables, very few small pieces of chicken. Definitely not the place to grab a hearty noon meal during a day of skiing or even a quick meal while simply strolling around Vail Village. Perhaps a long time local icon but on our visit, a disappointment. read more

The Blü Cow is a staple in the Vail Village! The famous Swiss dogs they are known for are amazing. They have a wide range of beer, wine, and a full bar with a lot of great cocktails. I got the cult classic, which was a pork/veal bratwurst on a delicious baguette. As far as well priced food in Vail goes, this is probably as good as it's going to get for about $10 for a sandwich. The menu is tiny, including only two sandwich options, two paninis, and a soup. Judging by how packed the place was even at 2:30pm, people must be finding something they like. The atmosphere is very causal and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating on a first come, first serve basis, but it looked like many people were taking the sandwiches to go too. read more

Over the past 20 years, we've seen them move from a storefront in Vail to a stand at the farmers market and back to a brick and mortar in the village. New, so no hours posted quite yet. Limited menu (of swiss hot dogs), but more to come. Full bar. Quaint space. His/hers bathrooms. I have great hope that swiss hot dogs will become a random snack rather than a farmers market only delight. Triple dog $11.
