This is our second time here and the food is absolutely delicious! Service this time was great. (First time the server seemed a bit overwhelmed). We had an appetizer sampler with the crab dip, crab balls, hush puppies and the homemade old bay potato chips. We finally decided to go eat at The Blue Crab...big mistake. The place was dirty inside with food on the walls....GROSS. We ordered the Calmari appetizer, which was mediocre. Followed up with Crab bites that tasted like the oil was three months old. Husband ordered the Fish and Chips... looked great ...but no taste.... On the upside the waitress , however, was excellent..! Very professional, accommodating and friendly.. But don't waste your money here...Big disappointment. read more

I will never pass through West Point again without stopping at the Blue Crab for a meal, a bite, or desert! What used to be a town blighted by fast food is now an oasis of delectable and well created meals. I had the poke bowl. I have eaten dozens of poke bowls in Hawaii and this was as good as any I had there. My server Taylor was a charm. I met a man sitting in his car in front of the restaurant who had just enjoyed some vegetable soup. He claimed it healed him! That is a testimony for good food. The coffee was also a joy. I had such a desire for steamed Blue Claw Crabs. This wonderful place had what I wanted, Being very familiar with eating Crab, I was disappointed to learn that there were no wooden hammers (Part of the fun) and they strangely didn't have picks ? Oh well, eating crabs is great even without the proper instruments to eat them with. I was pleasantly surprised at the price of my dinner...VERY reasonable. Been here a couple of times and always had great experiences. The servers are very nice and service is quick. Brought out refills as soon as our drinks were low and checked on our table several times. Everything is very reasonably priced. There were gluten free bread options if thats something you find important for an extra dollar. I got the calamari and she-crab soup and it was fantastic. My friends loved the fried chicken sandwich and crab cake sandwich. Also helps that the interior is very cute. read more

Love this place. My wife and I stop in on the way to Urbanna often. The food is great the beer is cold and everyone is so nice and friendly.

Went there a few months ago for lunch and got fried pickles for an appetizer and the fish and chips and my wife got the shrimp tacos. It was great and service was too. But went tonight for dinner, we got the fried pickles again for an appetizer and I got the Seafood platter and the wife got the tuna poke bowl. The fried pickles were very greasy and barely breaded. So much grease the breading was falling off. My platter was the same way, all the breading was horrible. For my wife, the amount of soy sauce at the bottom of her bowl was overwhelming. Too salty and no balance. The rice was hard and probably days old. The pickled cabbage tasted spoiled and also old. Same for the tuna. No wonder why it's only $12. It was so bad that we asked for something else, she got the shrimp tacos again, but looked like no effort went into it. Same issue w the breading. For service: I finished my drink in front of our waitress and she didn't ask if I wanted another drink. She was very socially awkward but thankfully she took off the tuna poke off our order. The back of house was loud and unprofessional. Overall bad experience. read more

Blue Crab is a hidden gem in West Point, VA. The crab cakes benedict with "jamy" poached eggs were outstanding. To be asked how I wanted my poached eggs cooked was awesome to begin with!! Really wanted the meal to be delicious but it wasn't. Food selection is small. I had a shrimp basket with one side for $12. There were 8 fried shrimp, slightly over cooked. My selection of fries was greasy. Seems coleslaw should come with it but does not. My husband had combo shrimp slightly over cooked and fish plus one side for $18. Fish were 2 small filets. We have eaten here several times. The food is very good. Hush puppies are amazing - large fried dough balls served with honey butter. The mahi fish platter is good, with rice, green beans, and mango salsa. Fried shrimp is also really good. Have had the club sandwich as well and it was good too. Service can be a little slow, especially when they are busy, but the food is worth the wait. read more

Just ate at The Blue Crab in West Point for Valentine's dinner. I was pleasantly surprised with the decor & lighting. We were lucky to get a table without reservations and were seated in the front of the restaurant. We had wine (red and white) which was very good and starters -- smoked chicken wings and crispy shrimp wraps. Both were served hot and were delicious. For our entrees, we had 1/2 pound steamed shrimp and crab cake entree served with rice and asparagus. The crab cake was good with some jumbo lumps in it and the accompanying remoulade sauce was very good. The asparagus was a little tough and the rice needed more seasoning. (I've never had a better crab cake than The Frog and the Redneck in Shockoe Slip years ago.) Before we finished our dinner, there was live music (a saxophone player) which was a nice touch. Our server was very attentive, and we were served very quickly. I am so pleased that there is somewhere to go out to eat in West Point! Highly recommend. read more

We decided to take the back roads from Port Royal to Williamsburg and glad we did. We happened upon a nice little restaurant in West Point Old Town called Blue Crab which was a pleasant surprise. What a nice small town seafood restaurant with very good quality food at very reasonable prices. The service was exceptional as was the owner who was kind enough to share her story of how the restaurant began (amazing young woman) . We will be making a special trip during our stay to visit them again as its was only about 20 miles outside of our resort. We love small town businesses and try to support them whenever possible. This is definitely one you should visit. read more

We stumbled on to this restaurant exploring West point. It sits on a street lined with old oaks and Victorian homes. We dined cafe style and loved it. Our server, Samantha, helped us decide on several appetizers and we ordered takeout 1/2 dozen blue crabs. We enjoyed: crab bites, full of crab, large, fresh fried with a tangy roumalade sauce; shrimp wraps, paper thin Asian style wrap around an extra large shrimp, flash fried served with a sweet/sour dipping sauce; hush puppies, big balls with a crispy crust exterior and soft corn muffin interior served with honey butter; Brussels sprouts, crispy crunchy out tender cabbage in, glazed in a sauce reminiscent of hoisin/teriyaki. Everything was fantastic. Takeout crabs we had a few days later. Perfectly spiced and meaty so picking was fun with a payoff! Outstanding quality and value, and excellent service. Thank you Samantha! If I lived in or near West Point, I wouldn't leave this review for fear it would make it less likely I could get a table for future visits. The back story, my group of 20 adults and 4 children had a reservation after a local family gathering; prior to our arrival, the staff was extremely accommodating in making our original reservation, accepting a couple of subsequent head-count changes, and setting aside a semi-private area for our large group. We arrived en mass to find a truly quaint setting; in spite of a prior warning that it might take longer than normal for them to serve such a large group, we were seated and served promptly. The food (especially the hush puppies!) was delicious, served hot, and very modestly priced; didn't hear a single complaint from anyone. Can't say enough about this place; my only complaint is that I don't live closer so I can visit again. Well done to The Blue Crab, and thank you. read more

Really nice place inside, our family came to visit so we decided to try it out, the owner and waitress were very friendly. I had the shrimp PO boy which was awesome and we got some shrimp for the table which were very good too. For sides I thought their coleslaw was pretty good and they have sweet potato fries which I love with seafood . will be back again! read more
