Great improv, great cast, great shows. The classes are a blast, the teachers amazing. Also consider volunteering, they can always use more. It's fun and you get to see the shows for free. Great local improv team that always makes me laugh. I've only been to the adult show a couple times but I always have a good time with friends. Nice small theater provides a very audience involved experience so they incorporate your improv suggestions into the games. I just love this cozy improv theater. It is a perfect compliment to an adventure in the Garland District. I came out to a show this weekend and really had to pull myself away from the neighborhood to get home to my babysitter.... It is such a special hotspot of unique, local businesses. I noticed at least 3-4 bars that I hadn't been to that had large groups of people hanging out. Anyways...enough about my problem pulling myself away from Garland nightlife.... This is a really special place to have a date night or family fun night. It is affordable ($7 tickets, $1-2 candy). Also there is free street parking. Improv theater is so exciting to watch because you never know what will happen. The performers take suggestions from the audience so you can be a part of making the evening hilarious. The Blue Door Theatre - Local improv talent wall! - Performing Arts Near Me - Spokane, Washington

Our second visit to the Blue Door. We attended a Friday night "Clue" a couple weeks back, and more recently their "Safari" on a rainy Saturday. "Clue" is a long-form evening, meaning a murder mystery improv with stable characters and some audience suggestion. "Safari" is a team exercise, with short, individual scenes all fueled by audience suggestions. Both visits were a hit. The various players were all quite talented and funny. Saturday seemed a bit more "adult" but if the audience suggests playing a scene as if Tarantino wrote it, you can anticipate covering the kiddies ears. The main thing to remember is the laughter to be had at the talented ensemble. For eight dollars a head, this is the best entertainment value in Eastern Washington!!! Don't hesitate, GO!! read more

I incredibly wanted to like this place more, but it just left me flat. My initial interaction with the ticket counter was awkward and unfriendly. The woman seemed incredibly annoyed that I couldn't figure out what type of candy I wanted, which made me feel hurried and unwelcome. If first impressions mean anything, this was not a good sign. Maybe it was just a bad day for her. Then there was the show. I could tell that the actors were trying, but at the end of the day there's just one fact: it was not funny. There were a lot of weird, awkward pauses and jokes that didn't really hit the mark. The loudest laughter came from the actors waiting offstage. I have heard that the adult-content show is a lot funnier, so maybe I will give them another shot, but overall it was just a flat experience. read more

Great place to see local improv theater! They've got a plethora of show times and topics on the weekends. Love that the price is pretty cheap (7 dollars, usually) for a ticket and a show that provides a solid hour of laughs. Had a fun time when we went to Friday night show. Counter folks were very friendly and we were shown where our seating was located. The show is interactive. Pro - talented actors, friendly staff, cozy theatre, interactive games/ skits, bars next to the theatre, cost Con - waiting (on the website it said 8pm and it didn't actually start until 9pm), boring audience members (when you interact with the actors on the stage they request things like, "gimme an occupation" or "gimme an emotion", you can't really control other audience members from shouting boring things, I guess the only you could do is to quickly outwit them before they can say another boring thing) 3 1/2 STARS. read more

Went to Blue Door for a Saturday night improv show a friend was performing in. It was funny and very adult content--not something you'd want to take children to, although there were some parents with teenagers under 16 and it wasn't' anything new to them. From what I gather, their program varies by month, but I laughed hard and plentifully so I will have to keep them on my radar. Don't think I'd want to come here in the warmer months--it was 30* out and by the time the show let out it was getting pretty toasty in there. read more

Absolutely appalled at the language and sexual content! If I could I'd have a huge warning flag instead of one star. I talked to lady at blue door comedy who worked there before I brought my 17 year old and husband to a show to confirm it would be appropriate for my teenager since the inlander said 16+ and she said yes. Then she told my husband when we left mid show that it was actually adult content but then told me two different stories of confirming she did tell me it was appropriate but then that it was not rated. I was so uncomfortable with the content and language myself much less for my teenager - I would highly recommend against the message they're sending our teenagers and young adults much less our community in saying now we are going to play a game of which person we'd marry and which one we would just f***. If you want hilarious clean Christian comedy Tim Hawkins (YouTube or Live show) is awesome and great humor showing communities that we can laugh with destruction - even if you're not Christian I think you'll think he's great fun!! read more

The Blue Door Theater also offers Improv classes. I decided to take a class. Always wanting to learn something and challenge myself and nothing better to do on a Tuesday night. So I go in for the class $25 per class or $150 for the whole 8 week session. I paid my $25 to see if it was something I would want to invest time and money into. Lets just say by the end of the first class I was ready to drop the additional $125 for the whole 8 weeks. Class is small there are 7 of us right now. One classmate is an actor but the others are not. This class is great for ANYBODY to build confidence and interaction in social situations. Great little gem of a class offered here in Spokane. I'd highly recommend it for anybody looking to grow and learn more about themselves. read more
