This was one of the most frustrating resale experiences I've had…read more I brought in a bag of neatly folded kids' clothes and was told they couldn't even review them unless I unpacked everything into their baskets. After doing that, I was then told everything needed to be refolded again. Completely unnecessary and a waste of time. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and acted like helping customers was a burden. Combined with the slow process and how selective they are, it's just not worth it. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be the norm--long waits, inconsistent rules, and very low payouts. Honestly, I don't understand how this place stays in business when the experience is this unpleasant. Save your time and take your items somewhere that actually values customers.

They have no public restrooms -You don't want to be bombarded with Christian music They have two tiny benches in the back of the store for you to sit and wait There is nothing to entertain kids It was freezing in the store. Had I not driven 30 minutes to come here I woulda told them to give me my stuff back so I could leave. I WILL NEVER be returning to this store to sell again Oh and to top it off, they processed someone else's buy before mine that arrived AFTER me! So incredibly frustrated with this store Arrived at 10:10am. Was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I waited a total of an hour and 20 min. They did buy quite a bit of my items so I was happy with that, but for everything that I sold to them, they only gave me $40 which I do feel like is a rip off

This business is a scam and you will not get any of the items you buy from them…read more I do not use that word lightly, but after what we've experienced, there is no other honest way to describe this business. We placed our order over four months ago and have still not received the items we paid for in full. These were not luxury or "nice,to,have" purchases , they were items bought for our twin babies. We trusted this business at a vulnerable and important time in our lives, and that trust was completely disregarded. From the moment the promised delivery window passed, everything became excuses, delays, and shifting stories. We were told for weeks that our order was "almost ready," that shipping was "being handled," and that delivery was "imminent." None of it was true. Each update contradicted the last. Nothing concrete ever happened. What makes this worse is the complete lack of respect shown throughout this entire process. No accountability. No proactive communication. No genuine effort to make things right. Just deflection and empty reassurances while they continued to hold our money. To make matters even more concerning, this business no longer has a real storefront. They appear to operate out of a warehouse with no clear way for customers to speak to someone in person. That was not disclosed when we made our purchase, and it has made resolving this issue nearly impossible. After months of waiting, pleading for clarity, and trying to be patient, we were forced to ask for a refund , something that should never require this much effort when a business fails to deliver at all. The emotional toll of dealing with this while preparing for life with newborn twins has been exhausting and deeply upsetting. Looking at recent reviews, it is clear we are not the only ones. Other customers have reported similar experiences over the past several months: undelivered items, endless delays, and difficulty getting refunds. This does not feel like an isolated mistake , it feels like a pattern. If you are considering buying from this business, please do not. Learn from our experience. We were disrespected at every step, left without the items we paid for, and forced to spend months chasing answers instead of focusing on our family. No one deserves this , especially not new parents. I hate to leave a negative review to a small business, but you don't need to take my word for it, just check the most recent reviews you can find on any platform and see for yourself.

We chose this company because we wanted to support a local business and expected a higher level of…read morepersonal service and accountability than you'd get from a large online retailer. Unfortunately, the experience was the exact opposite. We placed our order on February 1st and were quoted a 6-8 week lead time, with assurances it would "probably be closer to 6." We paid in full upfront. The beds did not arrive until April 24th. The biggest issue wasn't even the delay -- it was the complete lack of communication and professionalism throughout the process. Every update had to be initiated by me. Emails frequently went unanswered, or I'd be promised an update "soon" only to hear nothing again. It was one excuse after another for months. By the time the beds were finally ready, I no longer trusted this company enough to have them deliver directly to our rental properties. I had to reroute delivery to my personal home and pay additional money out of pocket to coordinate separate transportation to the rentals myself. To make matters worse, when I expressed frustration, they minimized the situation and claimed the order was "only a few days late" -- despite delivering nearly a month beyond their own maximum quoted timeline. Looking back, I should have listened to the many other reviews describing these exact same issues with communication, delays, and poor follow-through. Unfortunately, our experience proved those reviews were accurate. The product may be fine, but the service experience was genuinely awful. If you value communication, reliability, or honesty, I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Arrive as early as you can on your chosen day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. In the years I've gone to the Markt, the service is always friendly and the food stalls are usually pretty quick about it, or as best they can be with the given volume of foot traffic. There's tons of food, ranging from classic bratwursts to the more Americanized options like pizza and waffles and then to the more adventurous sauerkraut and mushrooms! There's plenty of vegetarian options too - I really like the hot noodles with cheese (casespaetzle) and the spiral-cut potato on a stick! Let me try to list out all the things I've tried at the Markt this past year, and just rate by a simple pick (yes, you should try it) or pitch (not really worth it if you want guaranteed flavor) - Doner kebab: PICK - Walking waffle: pitch - Belgian hot chocolate: pick (it's expensive though, $11 in 2025) - Peppermint hot chocolate: pick - Sautéed mushrooms and sauerkraut: pitch - Kielbasa: pick - Hot noodles with cheese: pick - Spiral potato on a stick: pick - Chimney cake: pitch It's all great food but can be slightly expensive. There are definitely plenty of things that are under $10 if you look, and usually the vegetarian options are around that price. The stalls/huts are all very scenic with a cabin-like design, so the market is very charming. Each hut also has a German trivia sign on it. My favorite huts are the loose leaf teas and the German candies/treats. There's also a ton of handmade stuff like beer steins that would make excellent Christmas gifts. Christkindlmarkt is hugely popular for many reasons: food, atmosphere, ice skating, and maybe even the collectible boot mugs! The design changes every year, and they're only $8 so it's also a nice souvenir.

The walking waffle station is a must as well! Pro tip: go to dollar tree and get toe and hand warmers before coming here. You'll thank me later... especially if it's cold like it was this year.

A few hours later, a fire had ripped through our condo building. We didn't know it then, but we would be displaced for over two years. As we all started to figure out where to go now that we were homeless, the stories started to come out. We all dealt with the feelings of loss and heartbreak as we put the pieces of our lives back together. My friend and neighbor of ten years told me of her auto accident months earlier that had left her with head trauma and memory loss. During that time, her insurance had lapsed. Her agent of twenty years didn't call, didn't follow up, and her insurance coverage had lapsed. Then the fire. I was sharing this story with Rich Taylor at a community event, and he asked me to call his wife, Lauren. I asked why, and he explained that she was the president of Holder Mattress and their company was all about helping the community that had helped and supported them. I called Lauren and shared the story of my amazing neighbor, the auto accident, the head trauma, the lapsed insurance, and how she had lost all of her possessions. I asked if there was anything Holder Mattress could do to help my friend. She asked me to give her some time to check into a few options and said she would get back to me shortly. True to her word, she reached back out and told me that Holder Mattress would love to provide a free mattress and box spring for my neighbor. I thanked her and told her I would be in touch once we knew when we could go back home, little knowing it would be two and a half years. My friend is fortunate to have many great people in her life who gave her a place to stay while she waited for her home to be rebuilt. We are finally able to go home now, and when I called Lauren, she graciously responded and assured me that Holder Mattress wanted to help. They scheduled a time this past week and delivered the mattress. I love the message they left: "We will call you early next week to confirm a window of time for delivery, so you'll know when to expect them. They will do all set up, and if you'd like, they can haul away any existing mattress you need to dispose of. You'll simply need to open the door and point them in the right direction. I hope you sleep well on the new mattress!" No old mattress to take away, the fire took care of that, but Holder Mattress and their team showed up, and it was a VIP experience for my neighbor. If you love to support local companies who truly care, Holder Mattress is a company worthy of your support and patronage.

The mattress was delivered on February 19, 2026, and it feels nothing like the mattress I tried in the store. In fact, it is stiff and hard and has already started to cause me back pain. I am writing this review to warn others that you will be better off purchasing your mattress through a major retailor, who will stand behind their product, usually 100 nights, or your money back. Don't get taken in by Holder's folksy story about a local company that custom makes your mattress personally for you. This is actually a business model that allows Holder to not stand behind their product, no refunds, no exchanges without additional fees, because the mattress was custom made. I realize that based on other reviews, some people are happy with their purchase. I am happy for them. I am speaking to the people where the Holder Mattress was not a good fit and the customer is not happy. You have absolutely no recourse! I actually reached out to Holder and was told that I could exchange my mattress for a $500 fee, but since I bought the most expensive mattress, any other mattress I would choose, would be less expensive and they would not refund the difference. I strongly encourage you to learn from my $5000 mistake! Carl L.
