    Glamor Profession 10/25/25

I spent an evening at the Blue Room last Saturday attending a Glamour Profession concert- an 11 piece jazz band that covers Steely Dan. We bought tickets online in advance and showed up at 7:15pm for an 8pm showtime to ensure table seating. The place was empty and we sat at a booth just a few feet from the stage. By showtime the seats were filled and before the intermission, the space was full. The Blue Room is attached to the Jazz Museum and is one of only a handful of clubs in KC that continue to book jazz artists exclusively. The space is small intimate and designed and furnished well to harken back to KC's swing era. Our waitress Cassandra was the best and meeting travelers form Los Angeles and Manhattan made me proud to be a Kansas Citian with our jazz history. We can't wait to return.

Kansas City this is a gem! Please continue to support them and show up even during the construction. On Saturday they opened for a special presentation and performance by Pablo Sanhueza and his Latin Jazz band. What a treat! The Blue Room supports local area artist who perform Blues, Jazz and Latin Jazz artists.

I can't rave about this place enough! First time visiting KC and as a jazz lover I had to check out the American Jazz museum during my stay there. I was pleasantly surprised when an employee told me that on Fridays the first show in the Blue Room is free. So I made sure I attended. It was an awesome atmosphere. Everyone so friendly, music was great and vibes were immaculate.

This place is literally a part of jazz history. It is now a museum and club. I go there almost every time I go to KC. It does not serve food, but there are a lot of places around that do, and they allow you to bring food in. They have a full bar, and the prices are not bad. The other thing that I appreciate is that children are allowed. I truly feel like this will allow jazz to live on. Now, this place gets packed because it is first come, first serve. Sometimes they have free concerts and when they do have concerts that you have to pay for the prices are very reasonable. If you like jazz, you have to check this place out.

Candlelight Jazz, organized by Fever! The show / band was super fun and entertaining. They did a super great job! The venue was okay - a bit crammed for the amount of people, getting drinks took a long time with such a small bar space. But I'm glad they had it! Also, there were candles everywhere, but we were pretty confused as to why they didn't turn off the other lighting in the room once the show started...? Why advertise it as a candlelight show if the other lights were kept on? We were kind of bummed about t They did ask us to leave about 10 minutes after the show was over. We were having fun chatting with the folks we met! Like minds (with good taste in music) think alike! It's fun to meet other Jazz lovers.

The drinks were pretty weak and watered down. The live music was great. We saw a band called Oasis. The sang some R&B and Blues. The parking is only good if you get there early. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience.

All they need is food ! Wonderful service and the music , the artist and band were amazing. We came to Kansas for the NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers).

Great place to come. Loved it. Wished it was open longer with live jazz. I'm bummed I wasn't in town long enough to enjoy all the black history months acts.

Visited the Jazz museum on Saturday March 18th and saw there was going to be a live Jazz show later that night at the Blue Room. Decided to go for something to do and so glad we did. The Blue Room is a great place to see a live Jazz. We saw Bryan Alford Experience featuring Misha Roberts the music was great and we really enjoyed our time. If you are in Kansas City and there is a live show at the Blue Room I highly recommend.

Amazing band that played Saturday, March 25th

The Blue Room was the highlight of our trip to Kansas City! Everything was amazing ! From the warm, welcoming, and exceptional staff to the extremely talented musicians and the most magical ambiance, it is a place you MUST go while in Kansas City. The band shut down the house, it was one of the best live jazz performances I have ever seen! Andre at the Blue Room is a gem and took care of us like we were old friends! It is a 10/10 experience, make sure you go!

Even walking in, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The entrance is small, and you're greeted right away, which was a nice touch. Once inside, it's very dark with deep red lighting--almost like stepping into a cave. It took a moment for our eyes to adjust, but once they did, we immediately felt at ease. The space is cozy and perfectly aligned with its purpose: it's all about the jazz. The service was great--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without taking away from the music. And the music? Absolutely captivating. It pulls you in and transports you--you can't help but settle into the vibe and just enjoy the moment together. We went on a Monday, so there was plenty of seating, but I noticed there's also a lower level that likely accommodates larger weekend crowds. There's a solid drink menu and a small selection of food, but honestly, this isn't the place you come for a full meal. Come for the drinks, stay for the music, and soak in the atmosphere.

Recently, I went to the Knuckleheads Garage to see the Texas Headhunters, which is a newer band featuring my favorite guitar player and singer Ian Moore. The experience was pretty great from start to finish. I was able to buy a ticket online and save it to my Apple wallet. It was super easy to get in. Parking was on-site and plentiful. They had a great opening act that was a local band from Kansas City. I liked that the drinks were affordable and super cold. I got a tall Quirk for $8. Beers were similarly priced. Later in the evening, I got hungry and scored a hotdog for six dollars. The whole place is cash only. Be advised you will not tap to pay. They have an ATM on site if you need cash. The concert was fantastic! The band was amazing and I was very pleased with the experience. There's a large seating area with tables and chairs in the middle of the venue and on the north side there are rows of old airline or bus seats with cupholders that are amazing. You are even welcome to go down into the pit without an extra special kind of ticket The sound was great and not too loud, it was very clear and clean, the lights were well done and they even had robotic video cameras with someone mixing the video on screen and out in the bar area so you didn't have to miss what was happening. The restrooms were clean and nice. The whole thing was a great experience. I will most certainly be returning to Knuckleheads for live music!!
