Pianos, drums, & the talent (pretty dang good)
    Brandon D.

It's been a long time since I've been to a piano bar, but tonight was a blast. Hammers just opened this weekend and fortunately it wasn't packed just yet, but there was still already a pretty good crowd for a fresh opening. It's a standard dueling piano setup with a drum setup, full bar, and seating for about 130 comfortably. The drink menu is eclectic to say the least with half a dozen house drinks ($10-14) and 4 fishbowl drinks ($22). I was fairly impressed by some of the top shelf booze selections as well. No food that I'm aware of (yet). So maybe eat dinner prior to coming out. Anecdotally, service was primo, but I'm fairly certain our server only had a few tables. Everything looked to basically be brand new...the stage, bathrooms, tables/chairs, etc. The only thing that wasn't ideal was the parking situation; and not because there wasn't any, but it's a pay lot out back. I'm told it's not crazy expensive, but probably tacks on $15-18 if you're here for a few hours. Regardless, it's reasonably priced for a fun night out. Strongly recommend dropping by and enjoying this new spot.

This is my favorite new spot in KC. I've been to probably 10 dueling piano bars across the country and this one had a great vibe. It is easy to make reservations ahead of time and the bar had a good selection of different beer and cider instead of just the same standard options. The bartender knew his selection and was able to make recommendations. I went on Halloween and although the crowd was small due to the holiday the two pianists played their hearts out (for 4 hours straight without a break). They had great rapport with each other which made it so much fun, and if they didn't know a certain song they would let you know so they could swap it out with a substitute or let you pick a new one. I will definitely be back and bring some friends. Pictured is their mural of musicians.

Hammers is so fun! They have dueling piano shows on the weekends. It is something different to do, I don't think there is another piano bar in the city! It is just a short walk over from Westport (I recommend getting dinner somewhere in Westport then coming to a show), they have ample parking and seating. The bar is well stocked and their signature cocktails met our expectations. One of the best parts might be the drink specials! They have discounts tor "shots of the hour" which is super fun! There weren't a lot of people when I went, but the whole team put on a great show! It's super interactive and all of the pianists are funny and welcoming. Someone bought everyone a "shot of the hour" which was a fun way to connect the whole room. I definitely recommend this place for a date night or a night out with friends and family! They take requests of course and the piano version of gin and juice by snoop dogg was certainly memorable!! It's something fun and different to do! We will definitely be back!

We arrived a bit early to enjoy the bar area, which immediately immersed us in the ambiance with velvet chairs, soft lighting, and a few performers wearing beautiful, sexy costumes who greeted us, chatted with us, and even applied glitter to our faces if we desired. This warm welcome heightened our excitement for the upcoming performance. The theater is relatively small, with only 250 seats, so I believe all of them offer a good view of the stage. We were seated in the VIP section, which provides table service for drinks. However, unless you are seated right at the front, I don't think it's worth it (the tables behind us were slightly elevated and, despite being more affordable, had a better view of the stage). The cocktails tasted good, but I didn't find them very strong. I had a couple, and to my surprise, I felt absolutely no buzz. This is unusual for me as I am quite a lightweight when it comes to drinking. The performance is immersive, led by the Master of Ceremonies, EnVee, who skillfully brings all the various acts together. Her strong personality and charisma are integral to the show, and she also possesses an amazing voice. The acrobatics were nothing short of spectacular, and while the performance was undeniably sexy, it maintained a level of class that allowed us to be captivated by the performers' impressive skills. This show was unlike any we've seen before, and we thoroughly enjoyed the 90-minute experience!

The last review was 11 years ago! it's time for an update:)…read more I signed up for the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (LRBC), because my aunt loves it, the thought being it's an awesome experience, sharing something a love one is passionate about together. Let me tell you, I fell in love myself, and was totally hooked on The LRBC, within a few hours of stepping on the ship. The accommodations, food, staff are all wonderful. The cruise is always on Holland America's new ships. My cabin was fairly spacious with a lovely veranda. However, what really made the cruise were the people and the music! Music was going 24/7, and the talent was hot! I was able to dance my heart away day and night. Some nights I never went to bed. It was such an incredible experience, all that was needed was a few hours sleep here, a couple hours of sleep there. I made so many connections and friendships with fellow cruisers. There's quite a few cruisers and artists I've kept in close touch with, since coming off the ship in January. The vibe on the ship is warm, welcoming, and full of heart. I've already booked for January, 2026! One thing to note about booking is: it's almost impossible to get on the boat as a newcomer. The cabins are mostly booked out for the following year cruise, by the time you get off the boat. There are a few cabins that are left, after prior cruisers are done booking. If you want to get on the boat, make sure to sign up for email notifications on the LRCB web page. There will be an email sometime in late March/early April announcing cabins and waitlists to the public. If you get on your computer and refresh the bookings page right as it opens, or call right when the list opens, you may have a chance of getting a cabin, but if not, at least you'll be fairly high on the waitlist. 2025, #17

This Cruise is NOT for you ! You will absolutely HATE being in the Caribbean in January, exploring…read moretropical Islands and basking in the warm sunshine. Also, you will utterly detest the almost 24-hour a day live Blues music that is on this ship - it is just too noisy with the likes of Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Dion DiMucci, Keb Mo, Magic Slim, Tommy Castro, etc., etc. And, you will definitely despise hanging out and parting for a week with these same performers into the wee small hours of the night. So for the love of Zeus, please please stay away from this Cruise - I'm begging you !

To my pleasant surprise, the show was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening. My boyfriend and I decided to visit on a whim while we were in Kansas City. Parking wasn't too difficult for a Friday night, and we were surprised to learn that the venue is located inside a hotel. Lonnie delivers a fantastic performance with great audience interaction, and his band is incredibly talented. The entertainment was easily the highlight of the evening. As for the food, it was just okay. We both ordered the Beef Wellington, and while it had good flavor, parts of the meat were quite chewy, which was a bit disappointing given the overall cost of the experience. Before visiting, I found information online suggesting dinner would cost around $50-$100 per person, so I anticipated spending under $200 for the two of us. Unfortunately, that estimate was far from accurate. When the bill arrived, it was already over $240, which caught me off guard. There was no pricing visible on the menu, website, or Yelp page, so I had no way of knowing what to expect. To make matters worse, when my card was processed, the final charge ended up being around $350 after additional fees and taxes were added, including tourism and hotel-related charges. I completely understand that quality entertainment comes with a cost, and I have no problem paying for a great dinner-and-show experience. My frustration stems from the lack of transparency. If guests are expected to spend this much, pricing should be clearly disclosed somewhere, and any additional fees should be communicated upfront rather than appearing as a surprise at the end of the night. Overall, if you're looking for a fantastic live show and don't mind a higher price tag, you'll probably enjoy Lonnie's. However, if you're on a budget or simply looking for an upscale dinner with some background music, this may not be the right fit. The entertainment was outstanding, but the lack of pricing transparency left a sour note on an otherwise enjoyable evening.
