We were so excited Memorial Day weekend to get back to the boathouse...sooo beyond disappointed with the new menu and service. No kitchen, as others have said, so a box sandwich at a high price. We were told they took a survey the summer before...we do remember being asked if we had a boat at the marina, and they were accomodating people who had boats there. We were called "outliers" because we did not have a boat At the marina. We suggested a takeout service for boaters who want to grab and go and the old restaurant for us outliers....no such luck. We were really disappointed in the changes made to the menu, please bring back the grill! Last year I could count on getting a hot sandwich and fries! Now its premade product and cold. New manager and a new resturant. Great place to go. This place used to be so bad it was a "get up and walk" out in the middle of the meal place. Gabe turned it around. I ate lunch here for business and it was so good I brought my family back for dinner!! Great food and great service. Pizza, burger, Caesar salad were all awesome. Beer on tap, cocktails they finally nailed it. Great job Gabe. This must be the worst resturant I've been to this year. The folks giving this 4 or 5 stars must not really be eating here. Well, beautiful view but that's about where it ends. Got seated at 7:15, and it was busy. There were 5 adults and one child. It took almost 15 min to get our drinks which we really didn't notice because we were enjoying the conversation. We ordered the Brie appetizer and dinner at the same time. By 8 (about 30 min after ordering) we asked about the app and were told about 5 more min. At 8:15 we asked again. I was giving it until 8:30 before we walked. At 8:28 the app shows up. We asked if the meal was close and we were told that it was coming up now. The Brie was good, but it was melted Brie with Garlic, it should have taken 5 min. By 8:45 and sill no meal we asked for the manager who said they got slammed and couldn't catch up. That was the first we had heard that. He said he would take 20% off. At 8:55 (roughly an hour and twenty min later) we got our meal. Which came out wrong. They messed up my wife's order, my Buger was fine. Her turkey sandwich was good. The Salmon a $22 meal was dry and chewy. We told the server and he said "ok" and walked away. Probably told the cook but that was it. The table behind us was upset too, they talked to the manager and left a note. Not sure what their exact complaint was. We saw a co-worker showed up about 30 min after us and after the restaurant was considerably slower. After waiting an hour and a half for their meal it came out raw. When they told the server. He said " well at least you have a nice view". Out of curiosity I started timing the table next to us, 10 min for their drinks and 40 min after ordering they were still waiting and were getting annoyed. By that time the place was slow and we were leaving. Guess I won't know if they ever got their food. We left at about 9:25, a little over two hours. read more

Went there because it looked like a nice place to hang out and eat a nice burger and have a drink boy was I disappointed. The drinks were horrible the food was mediocre the service was great I mean she was sweet as can be and she had nothing to do with the kitchen or the bartenders. Now let's talk about their prices three people had a less than mediocre dinner with one drink each and it was $140. Save yourself time and money and disappointment don't go there. read more

First trip ordered calimari. Described as half lb. what was served was a small basket of a few pieces of fried breading. Greasy and almost no actual calimari. Gave them another chance and ordered fish and chips. Almost inedible. Oversalted hardly describes either the fish or chips. Over fried as well. Prices are high, quality low. Service.....eh. New chef plus new management plus new menu = awesome! So glad this place is good again because it's all we have on the lake besides the club! We had the opportunity to meet the new chef and new manager and they are so excited to make this place great again! The new menu works perfectly with their extremely small kitchen, hence the reason for the previous seasons with the long wait times for food and bad service. We had the fish tacos and they were great! Definitely try the watermelon mojito as well. Can't wait to try the other menu items! We will be back! read more

I'm so disappointed about this restaurant! It used to be my favorite spot to go for Lunch or dinner but never again! The food is just horrible, the wait is stressful and the manager totally ineffective! We ask to speak with him but, of course, he never show up. Beloved and I ventured to The Boathouse for dinner the other evening. It was our first time and will not be our last! My fish was perfectly cooked and the accompanying veggies were most excellent. This four stars is just for the Boathouse scale, not compared to any other restaurants. In the years we've come here, it's been as high as 5 stars (probably 8 years ago) and as low as 1, which was awarded simply for location. The new ownership has gotten a lot right: the service was great, the menu had choices for everyone, and the food was tasty. Yes, the prices are a little high for Hayden, but you are on the water. Yes, the flatbread crust was clearly from frozen, but the toppings were flavorful. The Clark House chicken sandwich was surprisingly delicious--perfect bun, butterflied chicken breast, and great flavor. I hope they can keep up the good work. read more

Am I missing something? We tried eating here last Sunday and were told 30 minutes for a party of 4, which was strange because there were open tables all over the patio and the entire inside was empty. Ordered drinks and chips at the walk-up counter bc we thought it would be a quick snack, but even that ready-made appetizer took 20 minutes and the chips were stale. No updates from the host, and after an hour wait we decided to leave and call in a pizza order on the way home. Chalked it up to a bad night for them and tried it again tonight. Were told 20-30 minutes despite several empty tables again, and after 30 minutes the host told us our table would be ready in 5. 10 minutes later I checked in and he said there was a change and it shouldn't be more than an additional 20 minutes. What?! We were finally seated with apologies, and ordered immediately. I ordered an appetizer and requested that the kids' meals come asap, but... the appetizer never came, and the kids' meals came along with ours 40 MINUTES later. Food was fine, if it had come quickly we'd probably think it was great when combined with the perfect setting, but it's nothing special. This has become our favorite eatery in the area. We bring friends here in groups on motorcycles 3-4 times a week. The food is tasty and they have never once screwed up an order for any of us...in 25+ visits. The service is always friendly and very solicitous. The portions are the right size, the drinks are good, and they're always happy to see us. We'll keep coming back and bring even more riding friends the rest of the summer. I was AMAZED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously felt like I found a piece of heaven. Yesterday was my first time ever coming to the Boathouse. Its tucked away in the most beautiful location on Hayden lake. You feel like you are on a Boat because your so closes to the water. It was so easy getting a table and everyone was so friendly. Our food came out so fast.. The waitress made us feel so welcomed.... I loved it more then going to the Coeur D Alene Resort. I felt like I stepped out of the city same old same old into a whole new paradise. I've lived in Coeur D Alene for 3 years and just yesterday I happened upon this place as I was going on a scenic drive around Hayden lake. Boy was I excited!!! Thank you Boathouse for making my day... You will be seeing me often!!! I'm thrilled that I found a new favorite spot!! I would recommend going there right before sunset!!! I decided to try this restaurant again after some mediocre meals in the past. It's a beautiful setting on the lake, good parking, and a nice local restaurant. My review is varied. I had The Eastwood Burger. So over cooked and dry, didn't even eat it. My companions ordered the fish tacos, fish and chips and pulled pork sandwich. Their meals were great. A pleasant surprise. After a couple years of bad food And worse service I am happy to say this local Hayden lake establishment might have turned a corner. Engaged management and a new menu appears to be working. The location is still wonderful and now some tasty basic lakeside food and drink is being delivered. Burgers, fish &chips, those types of meals are being served hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The tiny kitchen still limits the breadth of menu selections. Redo the kitchen. Menu is deceiving because it looks good. The kitchen is way too slow (contrary to what the owner of the restaurant has been counter blogging on Yelp, we were there 4 days ago). One time I just walked out after 50 minutes without food. The last 2 times we got the taccos and the fish was bland and unseasoned. Salmon is dry and texture was like cardboard (probably frozen). Both my guests did not finish their meals. Salads have too much dressing. Last week there was a glop of food on the outside of my glass. I asked the waitress for a clean glass. Instead of giving me a NEW glass with a new drink, the waitress just tried to scape the glop off, and actually returned the glass to me with a smaller glop. Disgusting! I didn't want to ask again, so I decided to just drink water. Unfortunately the water glass was dirty too. GROSS!! Dont go. You will get sick. Once I did. I will try it again one more time to see if it's changed and update my review a 3rd time. read more

I love the boathouse, it has gotten a lot more busy over the years and I love that they added flatbreads. The only downside in summer is that I get heatstroke (unknown to them) and they don't seat inside "why why won't you let me!" I've been coming here for a few years now. Management has changed a couple times and so has the menu. It has definitely improved over the years. They are busy so you occasionally will have to wait for a table, but once you're seated the food comes out very fast. I ordered the caprese flat bread. It did not look big enough when it first arrived but it was very filling and tasty. My wife ordered the chicken tacos and she loved them. She said they were very flavorful. I would definitely recommend coming here despite what other reviews may say. Also, the view is just gorgeous! read more

We went here tonight for a girls dinner. It was a beautiful night on the lake and we were looking forward to getting together. We went here a few summers ago so thought we would try it again. It appears that it has been remodeled, painted, new tables, etc. & the outdoor atmosphere is great! They have really done a great job fixing this place up. The food was good, seemed a little expensive, but understandable to eating on the water. Drinks were expensive. Unfortunately our service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress pretty much threw our bills on the table & walked away saying she was sorry that she was out of folders. Our bills were not correct. It just left a bad taste in everyone's mouth at the end of the night. I may be willing to give it another try, but was definitely disappointed by the service we received tonight. read more

Awful, just awful. My cousin and I went there on Tuesday, August 1st 2017. Long wait times to be seated, then a 30 minute wait before the server aknowledged our presence and brought water. Forgotten drink orders, wrong drink orders delivered. I ordered the Mr Eastwood burger, after one bite I was done. The burger patty tasted SPOILED. 12 hours later and I've visited the bathroom about 20 times. My cousin ordered the DonnaT burger and it looked like someone dumped thousand island dressing all over it. She even had to ask for silverware just to soup up her burger. Such a great location is being wasted by whoever runs this establishment. Veteran Affairs has better customer service then The Boathouse.
