Excellent dinner! Restaurant right by the water. The service was very professional. Good place for couples on vacation. Mostly older people when we were there at the beginning of the season. The food was good and we enjoyed it all. I had the marry-me chicken, but I probably would get a steak next time. We had a lovely time at the Boathouse to open up the season. The stuff sole and salmon were fantastic, I highly recommend getting anything on the seafood menu (have tried it all). Sitting at the bar before going to eat dinner is a great option. I would also recommend getting reservations if you want a view of the lake with outdoor or indoor seating. Currently (5/14/25), Wednesday night is $20 off a bottle of wine with 2 entrées, perfect for a couples night out. We had a lovely waitress named Taylor, and I would give her 10/10 stars for service and personality!! She made the dinner evening lovely. Fantastic dinner spot! We kicked things off with the pretzel appetizer--delicious! I had the Bugatti margarita, which was fantastic, and their beer selection was impressive too. We tried a bit of everything: the salmon salad, clam chowder, and the New York strip--all of which were incredible. The steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The staff was friendly and efficient, and we appreciated how quickly they got our order in. Keep in mind, we visited in April during the off-season, so it wasn't overly crowded. That might change during peak times, but it was perfect for us. What really made the evening special was the view. We had calming lake views throughout dinner--definitely try to get a seat by the windows if you can. We had a chance to sit by the open window and just breath in the Lake. The service was wonderful. Everyone on the staff seemed to work together like a "well oiled machine"(yes, I'm a Boomer). The drinks were delicious, the food was superb and the rolls were Amazing. When we asked about the rolls, we were told that they are made by the Pastry Chef. After hearing this...we ordered dessert! Beautiful setting, so much potential. Unfortunately this is a glorified fast casual restaurant with fine dining prices. For a limited-option menu, all options were underwhelming. They load the dishes with what is cheap - carbs (either bread or pasta), absolutely slathered in cheese and butter. Honestly, the food was disgusting. The best salmon I've had in a while and cooked perfectly. I ordered it on a Caesar salad with homemade dressing. It was delicious but can also be an entree. My husband had a steak with Brazilian seasoning and it was delicious. We tried the beef barley soup. It was so good, we came back a second d time. This time we ordered salt and pepper chicken wings and the gun powder shrimp appetizer. OMG so good! I had a dinner special- haddock with a potato crust. It was delicious and beautiful. Now for the food quality, it was ok, not worth the price. Ordered the special lobster roll, lacked flavor, and we have them frequently, this was one of the worst, size of it was good but no flavor. Don't bother ordering the Chicken Sierra, for $32 bucks, again no flavor to the dish, not worth it for two pieces of grilled chicken slapped with a slice of cheese, not caramelized onions and fatty bacon. We also ordered the salmon salad, order it spicy, arrived with no spice, and it was thin end piece so it was dry, again not worth it. I would go back, but not sure what to order. The host was not too friendly once she learned we did not have a reservation. We were on a road trip, and it was mid-Oct. on a weekday! So we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and food items. The three cheese garlic bread for $15.00 was just okay, hardly had any stuff on it, was definitely just reheated, maybe in a microwave? No garlic powder and the bartender said ya, that's usually what it's like!v Really? The Gun Powder shrimp appetizer for $20 was also a disappointment. Hardly had any taste, way overpriced for the amount. But we were just passing through, not many places were open and we were hungry. Luckily, we sat next to a nice couple that lives in the area, and they recommended a place to stay in Lake Placid that worked out. So it was not a total loss. Great view. Good was okay. We had the French Onion soup, the ribeye steak, the stuffed sole... at 3:34pm for the dinner menu. Maybe we weren't so hungry but the steak didn't have a lot of flavor and when my husband says I make it better.... The stuffed sole was okay. The soup was probably the best out of three. This place is AWESOME! Beautiful location, incredible views, and exceptional service and food. A little outside of Lake George Village (5 mins max), but totally worth it! We sat right by the window and the lake views were beautiful. A party of two adults and two kids, we had wings (amazing) and escargot (whoa!) for apps, and then a great burger, a delicious lobster roll (not the butter kind, but still excellent), and a yummy shrimp pasta dish. Kids had grilled cheese and fries which were, grilled cheese and fries, LOL. Great craft beers, strong margaritas, and nice people. Affordable. Came here with my family this afternoon! We travel the US critiquing various restaurants. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess Lola, who was very kind to us. Our waiter was Jonney, who was also fantastic. We had a small mishap with an order but he was more than happy to "make the moment right!" Fixed in a jiffy! The food was rather delicious, and the atmosphere was nice. The view of the lake was the cherry on top. At the end of our experience here, we were offered to be carted back up in a golf cart (seeing the restaurant was very low!) by a gentleman named Layton. The roller coaster continues! Despite last year's lackluster experience, like a moth to a flame, the view The Boathouse provides keeps drawing my wife back. We had reservations for 5 PM through OpenTable, and even at that early hour, the place was already humming. We requested a table on the lower level, and while that request was not initially acknowledged the hostess quickly changed our table when I brought it up at the stand. The menu has been pared down this year. Like, a lot. In fact, the menu is just a photocopied sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper. Prices have also increased significantly, but hey, welcome to 2022. The reduced menu does seem to have resulted in an improved product. For starters, the Lobster Roll is back to its former glory. I had a daily special, the crabmeat stuffed sole, which used to be a regular menu item. It was delicious, but the serving size was tiny. My father in law had the Cajun Chicken a la Vodka, which he said was seasoned very nicely but the chicken itself was overdone. Service was slow but generally friendly, a continuing trend here. So, the food has gotten a bit better, but you're still paying a hefty nice view tax to dine here. The food itself certainly isn't worth the price you pay, but at least it results in a passable meal again. We'll probably be back the next time we're in Lake George to see where the story takes us. read more

We came here for a family member's birthday while staying in Lake George. The ambiance is wonderful - we sat downstairs right by the lake and it was a nice night. The views are just perfect. That's where this review takes a turn. We had a 6PM reservation and two people in our party ordered the Tomahawk Steak special. About 15 min after taking our order, we were told it was sold out. We then had to order two steaks in its place, fine. One steak was meant to be a medium rare and it came out fully cooked. We sent it back with the manager who did kindly take it off the bill. He said it would take 5 minutes which obviously took closer to 15 but it did arrive rare (forget the medium) which was fine. We had told them in our reservation and again when we received the confirmation call that it was a birthday. We still had to let the server know and he arrived with a blown out candle and just shrugged his shoulders that it wasn't lit. We had to ask for water refills and our plates weren't even cleared when dessert arrived so we ate our pies with our dirty dishes stacked on the table. We also paid for the two desserts. read more

I have to say boathouse restaurant got very bad. Not sure what happen , we went there two years ago and the food was so delicious! Boathouse dinner was something I really was looking forward to on my trip to lake George since it have nice view and use to be good food. Now this year I and my party was very disappointed with the food. They have shorten the menu options, everything is over priced and it's not worth the money. I had chicken parmigiana and it was very disappointing, all bred from the chicken fell off and the dish was so watery. We had party of 8 and no one was happy with they meal. Made a reservation for 8:15 which they happily took. But when we arrived, they put us (party of 6 including grandparents) downstairs behind the stairs, no view, two chairs at the head of the table the area where they usually put walk ins in bathing suits. When I said, "But we had a reservation," they said that was all they had. They had seated another party of 6 who came in at the same time as us and DIDN'T get stuck downstairs. In fact, we were the only ones down there. Then they basically ignored us, no water refills, not asking if we wanted another drink, couldn't wait to get rid of us. If 8:15 is too late for people to arrive, don't take the reservations! The cherry on top was that the golf carts they usually have to transport guests up a very steep hill weren't running when we left. The guys were just sitting in the carts talking. So my 80-year-old parents had to walk up the hill in the dark. My mother has been complaining about this for two days because they like this place so much and go all the time. She wanted to impress my daughter and her boyfriend. Instead we got stuck in the corner and ignored. So disappointing! My food was good, others were less pleased (underdone steak). read more

This is our second year at the Lodges at Cresthaven and I will say this year the food at Boathouse was absolutely upgraded. Last year we chalked it up to coming out of Covid and I'm glad we gave it a second chance. Great lobster bisque! Our family of 5 enjoyed our meals, especially the chicken parmigiana. I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and under "special requests" asked for a romantic water view table. What we got was a semi-covered outside dock surrounded with large families with noisy kids and next to the bar area a level above with terrible live country western music. We asked to be moved to a quieter location but the manager said it was not possible. Never had that happen before. I know this is high season and they are a busy destination restaurant with on-premises lodging but I did request 3 weeks in advance. In addition, although the service was pretty good considering it was a busy Thursday, my husband's chicken pasta dish and my scallops "n butter sauce" (actually swimming in a water casserole) were both tasteless, really tasteless and the scallops were overcooked to tough. How can food be cooked to tasteless? The waited brought us the wrong bill - it was not ours and cost more than our dinner so luckily I I noticed and it took 15 minutes to get our correct bill. I was so looking forward to a lovely, romantic dinner on the lake. I DO NOT recommend this place. read more

Just on the location, view and the building alone it is 5stars. But the food has never tickled my tongue whenever I dine here. Not to say it's bad, it's just doesn't have me doing back flips. We took note that there were numerous empty tables that stayed that way for the entire hour or so that we were there. The bartender was great. The French onion soup and pretzels were good. The boathouse chicken sandwich was another story: it was supposed to have bacon on it. Even if they meant Canadian bacon, it was not. Instead, it was two thick slices of rubbery ham. We had a reservation this past Sunday which was the height of Labor Day weekend. The restaurant was jammed packed but the view from the remodeled indoor dining room withthe windows open was spectacular. Our server Diane was attentive and provided us with excellent service! For our family of 4 We had the ribeye cooked to a perfect medium rare....duck special which was great, the pork chop was amazing and the marry me chicken was as advertised!
