I have many years of experience in the restaurant business, and my family owns restaurants in North Jersey. Therefore, I understand the significance of a restaurant review. When I leave one, it is not something I do lightly. I recently visited what used to be my favorite restaurant on the lake, and I was informed that there would be an hour-long wait for the food. Although we could be seated, it would take an hour to dine. As a result, we decided to go to Fire and Ice instead. While they offer outdoor seating, we chose to eat inside. The atmosphere was typical of a sports-type bar, and the staff exceeded our expectations. I want to give a special mention to our server, Sophia. I believe her family owns the restaurant, and she made us feel like part of the family. Although there was a minor issue with my order, it was quickly resolved, and to my surprise, it was taken off the bill. Fire and Ice is the place to go when you're in Lake George and craving a hamburger and a beer. The appetizers were delicious, as were the dinners. While I still visit my other favorite restaurants, Fire and Ice has become a tradition for us - our go-to spot on the first and last nights of our visit to Lake George. read more

Party of eight, Fourth of July, two hours before the boats we have tickets for are heading out for fireworks. All of the waterfront restaurants were full with lines of waiting people. I spotted a small restaurant/bar across the street and ran over to ask if they could accommodate us. They quickly set up a table on the deck for us while I retrieved the rest of my party. Our expectations were low. This looked like a bar first and food establishment second. Wow. We were pleasantly surprised. The drink special was something blue and fruity and delicious. The food though! We got a pretzel with beer cheese and some pickle chips for starters. The group demolished those even faster than the drinks. Three of us elected to try the fish tacos. I had shrimp in mine and it was good except for the little fried "salad shrimp". The two others got them with fish and they were delicious. This place makes delicious sauces! The rest of the table had burgers with fries. Everything was great and cooked perfectly! The bar inside was dark but clean. Bathrooms were clean with fully enclosed individual stalls. Our waitress seemed inexperienced but made up for it with a great personality and a lot of "mea culpa". If I lived here, we would be regulars. Stopped in early afternoon on a Saturday. It was quiet, maybe only 3 other tables occupied. The waitress that came over was nice, albeit easily confused. We asked for waters and if they had any sodas that weren't in tap. She asked us multiple times what we wanted. Then we ordered 1 margarita (which was delicious) an order of fried pickles and the shrimp basket. On a Saturday late-afternoon, we were able to come in and seat a party of 4 adults and three children without a wait and that, my friends, is a plus. Many of the restaurants in Lake George don't offer reservations and require you to wait for a table. While this is good for them, this doesn't help when you have three kids under 4 years of age. Either way, our timing was right and we were able to sit right away. The staff was very friendly and while the restaurant filled up very quickly after our arrival, we didn't wait too long for anything. Beers, burgers and taco salads came out without a hitch- my meal was left off the list but being fish and chips, wasn't too long to come out. A few beers and some mixed drinks made for a meal worth reporting on. Didn't break the bank at all and did the trick with getting the kids fed with good quality food. Since the restaurant is basically one long room with a bar on one side, it can get a little loud since there are no dividers or wall coverings. On vacation with the family. Took my 2 boys along with a friend and his son for lunch. Look this is a no frills place. It has very little theme. Looks like "any bar USA". Don't let that fool you. We had the best and most reasonably priced meal of our trip amongst the many other overpriced rip offs. Food was PHENOMENAL. I got Chicken Parm Hero. It was delicious. French fries cooked well. My friend got a cheeseburger which he called "a top 5 cheeseburger of recent memory". The kids meals is where they stand out. This isn't your typical Kraft Mac and cheese for $7. One kid got a hot dog. It was cooked perfectly on a phenomenal garlic? roll. I ate half of it. Unreal. Other kid got chicken fingers which also weren't the usual kids menu crap. Looked awesome although I didn't taste. I will acknowledge some of the negative reviews. The food ticket times are very slow. We were one of 3 parties in the place and it took close to 30 minutes order to table. Very small kitchen. First time at Lake George and I came upon this place. Decided to give it a try. Ordered the buffalo, BBQ and Garlic Parmesan wings. Also ordered the Apple Walnut Salad. I was not disappointed. Wings were crispy and hot off the fryer. Salad was refreshing and tasty. Maddy our waitress took excellent care of us. Beer on tap was good as well. I tried some of other places at Lake George Town. This place is a favorite for my wife and i and for my parents. Wife and i came here three nights on our vacation, two for dinner. They have the perfect spot for outdoor seating and watching all the activity on the main strip. We were fortunate to have a live acoustic performer right in front one night. Our servers were Janet and Jacob; they were both perfect, we had excellent service. The food is REALLY good! So yes we hit the jackpot with this place. Anytime i come to LG i make a point to come here and enjoy the atmosphere, food, and service. Owner was also very nice, she offered more service despite things wrapping up and time being past closed. My husband and I went to fire & ice for a nice lunch only to have one of the lowest quality meals we've ever had. We were sitting for about ten minutes before a waiter even came over. He took our appetizer order and returned a few minutes later with our drinks. A good 20-25 minutes later our appetizer came out we had ordered spinach and artichoke dip. When the waiter put it down he said be careful it's hot. I don't know what he considers hot but luke warm is not hot. We also noted the bowl with the dip didn't look as though it had been cleaned properly. We gave them the benefit of the doubt only to be severely disappointed. The dip was cool and had next to no flavor and most of the chips were broken crumbs. We would have left but we had already order entrees. The entrees were ok. My husband got a bbq fried chicken sandwich which was no where close to fried chicken more like squished chicken that was bone dry. I ordered the mega dog which was a great concept but poorly executed and not hot. It was another 10 minutes after we gave up on eating before another waiter cleared our table and asked if we had gotten our check. We said no and then waited another 5 minutes for the check. Wow! Started out with appetizers and got chili and cheese waffle fries. I think I could've had this for dinner by itself. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and it was very generous in portion. Felt like I ate an entire steak, and the flavor was great. My wife had a blackened salmon dinner and it was only $19, which would've easily been $30 at a traditional restaurant. It was flavorful and moist. I tried my daughter's chicken tenders (honestly, was looking for something wrong with this place). Crispy on outside and juicy on the inside. Went here with my wife for a quick and inexpensive dinner. I ordered chili with cheese and a jerk pulled chicken wrap with fries. My wife ordered spinach dip with tortilla chips. Chili was clearly Hormel. Jerk pulled chicken wrap was tasteless and dry. The chicken was only partially pulled/shredded, which added to the dryness. Fries were good though. My wife said the dip was good but the chips were stale. What we didn't expect was being awakened to the sudden onset of nausea and vomiting in the middle of the night. I didn't have high expectations as it was more of a bar but decided to stop for a drink and apps. Although the prices were reasonable the quality of the food was way below standard. The spinach and artichoke dip was served cold and "soupy" no cheese at all, and basic tostino rounds. The fried clams tasted like the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed for quite some time. Chased by owner without a mask yelling at me to put a mask on outside on the deck. We are from out of state and thought masks were only required inside which we did. When we discussed his aggressive behavior inside his first response was to inform us we could leave. When we pointed out that he was inches away from us and still unmasked he responded again that we could leave. There is a little thing called tack the owner clearly has none along with no people skills. Would not recommend stopping here anytime soon maybe once ownership changes hands. My family and I recently visited Lake George and spent almost a week there. We usually try to go to the same local places every year to eat. We have always gone here to eat but this time was just plain awful. We waited over an hour for two cheeseburgers, a chicken wrap and a caesar salad. We asked if there was a wifi password so the kids can play games on their electronics while we waited and the owner said no he doesn't give it out and just walked away. When the food finally did come, we were missing items but we said we really didnt want to wait any longer for them. My husband took a bite out of his burger and said it tasted funny. He took the top bun off and the lettuce was all brown. When i started eating and moving the lettuce around in my salad I found that towards the middle, alot of the the lettuce was all very dark and slimey. The waiter was very aplogetic and actually took the items off of our bill. I dont believe there wasn't any way a cook wouldn't notice that ? We ended up grabbing a couple of slices of pizza somewhere else afterwards. Plus what made it awful too was there was a guy playing guitar and singing outside live. I think he was intoxicated and he was only singing less than a minute of every song. Will definitely skip this restaurant next year. read more

I had a decent enough experience at Fire & Ice. Dropped in on a Monday afternoon, and it was fairly empty, though when we were leaving there were more people dining outside than when we went in. My fiance and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We ordered nachos as an app and I cannot believe how quickly they came out! They were good, though they could have used a bit more cheese. They weren't exceptional, they did the job, no major complaints. For lunch, I had a Turkey BLT wrap. I had asked for it as a sandwich instead of a wrap, and was told that the only bread they had was a cinnamon bread used for another sandwich. I found this a little odd, but trusted the waitress's judgment when she said the honey wheat wrap didn't taste like a typical wheat wrap. Again, the meals were brought out SO. FAST. I couldn't believe the speed at which they were serving food. She was right about the wrap, and overall I enjoyed it, though there was nothing spectacular about it. The bacon was goooooood - but what bacon isn't? - nice and crispy. In my opinion, the sandwich could have used more bacon (obviously) and more turkey. There seemed to be a lot of extra wrap. I forget exactly what my fiance ordered - the sandwich that has the raisin bread- so I'm going to just skip over that, but he did like it, whatever it was. The food is good, not great, but it does the job and is very fairly priced. The waitress that served us was very friendly. All of the food and drinks (except for alcoholic ones) were served in disposable, styrofoam servingware, and the forks and knives were plastic. Not a huge concern, but it seemed a bit odd. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you need a quick bite to eat at a decent price. It's basically one of those places where you get what you pay for in a tourist town. read more

April, the bartender is the ONLY reason we loved this place. We did not eat, we were drinking and she was hysterical and we bantered back and forth for a couple hours. This place has a nice patio with an outdoor fire pit and they allow smoking on the deck, at your table.
