    Lobster Roll
    Hanna C.

My husband I had lunch at The Pavilion during our stay at The Sagamore. The quality of food is mediocre at best, which seems to be the standard for most places in this area. The service we received here was far better than the other restaurants in the resort. For appetizer we had the Crab Cocktail. The crab that was served was no doubt from a can. It was no where near a lump crab cocktail . The ambiance was calm. We were 1 of 3 couples dining in the lower level of the covered deck. For our meals we ordered Clam Chowder, the Lobster Roll, Crispy Scallops, and a side of Fried Shrimp. The chowder was actually better than expected, probably the best of what we ordered. The lobster roll was just that. Not bad, but nothing special. The scallops and shrimp were both a bit greasy. Nothing that would make me want to return.

Great food, friendly service, unbelievable views. The restaurant is part of the Sagamore Hotel. Highly recommended.

I had a great dinner at The Pavillon during my most recent stay at The Sagamore. This restaurant doesn't just have views of the lake... you are literally eating on the lake. If you can, be sure to time your dinner during sunset. The menu is pricey (as expected at The Sagamore) but the portions are large and the seafood is incredibly fresh. My pasta had so much shrimp and scallops, both perfectly pan seared. The tomato sauce was light and flavorful and they were able to make it mild instead of spicy which was appreciated. My husband's snapper was also incredibly fresh and well prepared. Service is wonderful and cocktails are strong. You can call ahead for a reservation which I suggest. Because of Covid they are also only accommodating hotel guests which is nice. This is a great option for a classy dinner or a more casual lunch if you want to grab something like a lobster roll or burger. If you stay at The Sagamore I do suggest dining here at least once!

Fra diavolo (both hit and a miss)

Pavilion is the more casual restaurant on the property but has the best/most expansive views by being at the bottom of the property on a deck over the water. First come first serve, no reservations accepted. You don't know how badly I want to give 5 stars! -Service was fine -Drinks were tasty -Bread and butter was yummy But this review is really about the main course.. The fra diavolo dish is both a hit and a miss. The flavor of the actual seafood is delicious, crave worthy and done to near perfection. Not spicy (will talk about in a second) but for the seafood I didn't care as it was that good in flavor The problem? Pasta lacked flavor itself (but did taste fresh) and there was zero spice/peppers to make it an actual fra diavolo dish...if you didn't call it fra diavolo I guess this wouldn't matter as much :) $44 isn't cheap so why not go for the wow factor and at least give more mussels. It's the cheapest seafood for you to put on the plate, your sauté is amazing so why not add more so we say "wow"? (Even though it's an illusion because they are just mussels but it is all about the eye appeal and feeling a value!) Ya ya higher end property = high price and small portion but what a great feeling it would be to leave that unparalleled property view feeling like the dish was worth it and would get it again and again and make a point to return for it. What about being known for that dish guys?! Plus need I remind you this is your more casual restaurant here so keep the pretentious potions inside :) Your plate consists of: 1 split lobster tail- was plentiful and flavorful 3 shrimp- perfect size and flavor (would 2 more kill you?) 3 scallops- perfect size and flavor (would 1 more kill you?) 4 mussels- more great flavor! (Would 6-7 more kill you?) My mother also got this dish with the same seafood count so safe bet it is the usual portion... Come on, make me want to go back!!!! Good talk

This will be our fourth year staying at the Sagamore and every year our first night we go and eat at the pavilion because it makes us feel like we're at home. Love the atmosphere love the food love the company.

It was such a beautiful day Sunday, and ended up at the Sagamore. Decided to have lunch at the Pavilion. Perfect table with a million dollar view!!! Couldn't have asked for a more accommodating waiter. He was from South Africa and was very friendly. He had recommendations and actually went out of his way a few times for us. For starters we had the fried oysters, steamed clams, & seafood bisque. Everything was exceptional. The clam butter base was so good, we did a second order. I had the fish and chips. Light and fluffy. My brother raved about his mahi-mahi . My daughter loved the Lobster roll and it was packed high! Great drinks, carried s few of my husbands favorite scotches, and a no rush relaxed atmosphere . Can't wait to go in the fall at the height of peak season to capture some great foliage pictures as well! Great experience!

We ordered the Arugula Roasted Beet salad. The arugula was super fresh and good, however, it overpowered the beets which were thin and underrepresented. We also enjoyed a shrimp cocktail which was very good. For mains we had the roasted duck breast and the braised short ribs. The duck breast was a bit more well done than we normally have preferred, but was delicious, tender and moist. The short ribs were melt-in-your mouth perfect. We both accompanied the mains with a glass of red wine (one of the Hout-Plaisance and one of the Pessac Leognan). For desert we tried the carrot cake and the peanut butter pie. The carrot cake was good but the peanut butter pie was heavenly. In all a very well prepared dinner. However, we expected more creativity from the chef compared to other meals we have enjoyed in the region. Pricing was on the high side.

So, I sauntered down Allens Alley towards the Chateau. Place was empty, except for the bartender. I announced I was here for Happy Hour, but was informed it's not really a Happy Hour, it's just that bar is open for business. Okay, I'll have a Heineken ($8). Then I went out back, sat in the shade, enjoyed my beer, looked at beautiful Lake George, and waited for the wife to call and say she was done browsing.

One entree was the crab cake, which was mostly filler and not crab, and came out so cold it was inedible. When the waiter came to check on how we were doing we let him know we were unhappy and he said he would get a manager, which he never did, and just brought the check. We asked for the manager to come over & he didn't apologize or offer a solution to rectify the situation he just kept saying "I hear you, I understand". Finally, when we asked him what was going to be done about the situation he said "I'll take half off of the bill", so we handed him the credit card with the original bill. He came back, gave us back our card and the new bill. The new bill did not have half taken off, it had half taken off of the two entrees we had an issue with. As we got up, the waiter came running over to say "we didn't run your card that's just the new bill". Overall, the food wasn't good but the service and management is what was worse. The manager was very dismissive and not helpful at all. I would steer clear of this restaurant at all costs !

For appetizers, we went with the Hand Rolled Polpette, Risotto all'Astice e Gamberi, and the Crispy Mozzarella Tasting. The risotto was probably the favorite at our table, although the meatballs were a close second. For entrees, the Chicken Saltimbocca was excellent, the halibut was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the veal chop was easily one of the best dishes of the night. What nobody expected was that the kids' meals would be so great. All three children ordered the kids' steak, and every one of them was cooked beautifully. Their steaks were better than the steak I had the previous night at Tavern on the Lake, even though that one cost about 3x as much. My sister-in-law enjoyed her chicken sandwich. The clam chowder and the steamed clams were fantastic. I'd highly recommend the soup and the shrimp dish that my wife had also wasn't bad. The service also left a lot to be desired. Our waitress checked on us only once shortly after the food arrived. After that she essentially disappeared until it was time to hand the bill. Meanwhile, we watched her regularly check in on other tables. Both of our water glasses sat empty for quite a while, and no one came by to offer refills or see how everything was. Sadly, it ended up ruining what should have been a special evening. I began with the French onion soup. The menu described it as being served with a crouton, but what arrived was two large pieces of bread with only the thinnest drizzle of melted cheese. Anyone who enjoys classic French onion soup knows the hallmark of the dish is a generous blanket of bubbling cheese, with the bread hidden underneath. I politely mentioned this to our server, who took it back to the kitchen. What came back was astonishing. Instead of remaking the soup properly, the kitchen simply added two more pieces of bread--for a total of four slices--and again barely covered them with cheese. At that point I declined the manager's offer to make it a third time. After seeing what the kitchen considered an acceptable correction, I had completely lost confidence. For my entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp and added the glazed spare ribs. Unfortunately, both were overwhelmed by an extremely sweet, thick, sticky glaze. The coconut shrimp themselves may have been very good had the sauce been served on the side so diners could decide how much to use. Instead, every bite was drenched in sweetness. The ribs had virtually the same heavy glaze, and even the green beans and carrots were swimming in a sweet sauce. The entire plate tasted like dessert rather than dinner. I barely touched it and simply had it boxed to take home so we could wash off the sauces ourselves. My husband ordered the bouillabaisse, which had the opposite problem--it was surprisingly bland and lacked the rich seafood flavor one expects from that classic dish. Rather than complain yet again, he also boxed it up so we could season it ourselves at home. By 8:30 on a Sunday evening we were still hungry and began searching for another restaurant, only to discover that most nearby kitchens were closing at 9:00. We ended up grabbing Chinese takeout just so we could have something to eat on our wedding anniversary. The evening became even more disappointing considering the cost. We ordered a $150 bottle of Cabernet, bringing our bill to approximately $300 before tip. Spending that amount for a celebratory dinner and then leaving hungry to find another meal elsewhere is not an experience I ever expected. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I generally give restaurants every opportunity to make things right. In this case, however, the problems extended well beyond a single dish. Between the mishandled soup, the excessively sweet entrées, the bland bouillabaisse, and ultimately having to find another dinner after spending hundreds of dollars, this was an anniversary dinner we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because it has the potential to be much better than what we experienced.

Even though our table appeared ready, we were asked to wait. But they were very friendly. It would have been nice to be seated and simply advised that the server might need a few minutes, especially since all of the seating outside the restaurant was wet from the rain. Once seated on the patio, the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was largely enjoyable. Our server was friendly, but he seemed rushed throughout the evening. My impression was that the restaurant may have been short-staffed, as he was constantly moving and difficult to flag down when we needed something. The food was the highlight of the meal (except the cheesy garlic bread, it needed to be toasted). I loved the vodka pasta, which was rich and flavorful. My husband enjoyed the flavor of the osso buco, although he felt it was somewhat dry and overcooked. My son absolutely loved the ravioli and declared it his favorite part of the evening. Unfortunately, service continued to be a challenge. We wanted to order dessert, but despite several attempts, we couldn't get our server's attention.
