No reservations, only walk-ins, but we were lucky to be seated by Byron who ensured our stay was pleasant. Located by Lake George in Sagamore resort, the setup is brilliant, whether you come here to eat, or just grab a drink! We got the New England Clam Chowder $16), Farmers Summer Salad ($22), and Blackened Fish Tacos ($23) to share. Food was fresh, and the salad was refreshing! We had very poor service on our visit. I think our server was simply having an off night or maybe there was a miscommunication among the staff. The poor service is factored into the score, but there's no reason to rehash every detail. We started with the mussels which were exceptional. The saucy broth they are served in is delicious. Unfortunately it's served with not nearly enough bread, and if you ask for more you will be charged (without being told). Our mains were a lobster roll and the steak salad. I am not a good judge of lobster, but it was "delicious." My steak salad did not arrive as ordered. The steak was overcooked (still tender, but certainly not medium-rare) and it was doused in dressing (which I had asked for on the side). The only reason to eat here is for the lake views. You are truly right on the lake. You're paying through the nose for that view because the food is just ok. read more

My husband I had lunch at The Pavilion during our stay at The Sagamore. The quality of food is mediocre at best, which seems to be the standard for most places in this area. The service we received here was far better than the other restaurants in the resort. For appetizer we had the Crab Cocktail. The crab that was served was no doubt from a can. It was no where near a lump crab cocktail . The ambiance was calm. We were 1 of 3 couples dining in the lower level of the covered deck. For our meals we ordered Clam Chowder, the Lobster Roll, Crispy Scallops, and a side of Fried Shrimp. The chowder was actually better than expected, probably the best of what we ordered. The lobster roll was just that. Not bad, but nothing special. The scallops and shrimp were both a bit greasy. Nothing that would make me want to return. read more

I had a great dinner at The Pavillon during my most recent stay at The Sagamore. This restaurant doesn't just have views of the lake... you are literally eating on the lake. If you can, be sure to time your dinner during sunset. The menu is pricey (as expected at The Sagamore) but the portions are large and the seafood is incredibly fresh. My pasta had so much shrimp and scallops, both perfectly pan seared. The tomato sauce was light and flavorful and they were able to make it mild instead of spicy which was appreciated. My husband's snapper was also incredibly fresh and well prepared. Service is wonderful and cocktails are strong. You can call ahead for a reservation which I suggest. Because of Covid they are also only accommodating hotel guests which is nice. This is a great option for a classy dinner or a more casual lunch if you want to grab something like a lobster roll or burger. If you stay at The Sagamore I do suggest dining here at least once! read more

Pavilion is the more casual restaurant on the property but has the best/most expansive views by being at the bottom of the property on a deck over the water. First come first serve, no reservations accepted. You don't know how badly I want to give 5 stars! -Service was fine -Drinks were tasty -Bread and butter was yummy But this review is really about the main course.. The fra diavolo dish is both a hit and a miss. The flavor of the actual seafood is delicious, crave worthy and done to near perfection. Not spicy (will talk about in a second) but for the seafood I didn't care as it was that good in flavor The problem? Pasta lacked flavor itself (but did taste fresh) and there was zero spice/peppers to make it an actual fra diavolo dish...if you didn't call it fra diavolo I guess this wouldn't matter as much :) $44 isn't cheap so why not go for the wow factor and at least give more mussels. It's the cheapest seafood for you to put on the plate, your sauté is amazing so why not add more so we say "wow"? (Even though it's an illusion because they are just mussels but it is all about the eye appeal and feeling a value!) Ya ya higher end property = high price and small portion but what a great feeling it would be to leave that unparalleled property view feeling like the dish was worth it and would get it again and again and make a point to return for it. What about being known for that dish guys?! Plus need I remind you this is your more casual restaurant here so keep the pretentious potions inside :) Your plate consists of: 1 split lobster tail- was plentiful and flavorful 3 shrimp- perfect size and flavor (would 2 more kill you?) 3 scallops- perfect size and flavor (would 1 more kill you?) 4 mussels- more great flavor! The was our first time at Sagamore and may very well be our last. While the views were great and the Sagamore as a whole is gorgeous, the Pavilion was an awful experience. Since we were told they don't take reservations, we got there early to put our name in and of course expected some wait. Did not expect the very unnecessary rudeness of the host Josh, who treated us like a major inconvenience throughout our 2 hours waiting. We were nothing but polite during a few check-ins over those 2 hours, but he snapped at us each time. Even threw in a snarky and of course insincere "enjoy" as we finally walked past to be seated. Food was meh, service meh, for what we paid. And restaurant was only half full by the time we sat since we waited so long. Very disappointing experience with The Pavilion. read more

It was such a beautiful day Sunday, and ended up at the Sagamore. Decided to have lunch at the Pavilion. Perfect table with a million dollar view!!! Couldn't have asked for a more accommodating waiter. He was from South Africa and was very friendly. He had recommendations and actually went out of his way a few times for us. For starters we had the fried oysters, steamed clams, & seafood bisque. Everything was exceptional. The clam butter base was so good, we did a second order. I had the fish and chips. Light and fluffy. My brother raved about his mahi-mahi . My daughter loved the Lobster roll and it was packed high! Great drinks, carried s few of my husbands favorite scotches, and a no rush relaxed atmosphere . Can't wait to go in the fall at the height of peak season to capture some great foliage pictures as well! Great experience! read more

HORRIBLE! I hardly ever write reviews or complain to servers about my food. However, here I ordered Tuna Tartar for appetizer. The most bland dish I've ever had. Tuna was extremely fishy and avocado was raw. I mentioned it to the server when he asked how it was. He did apologize at first, but then returned and said that the chef and two other people in the kitchen tried it and said it was fine. Also went on about how they have the best fish, almost to the point where he was insulting my wife and I insinuating that we don't know what good seafood is. In the end, the $20, bland, fishy tuna was left on the bill without any real apology. We left feeling totally unsatisfied and kind of insulted. read more

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was nothing short of a nightmare. Our party of 9 waited an hour and a half for our meals and not a single one of them was warm upon arriving. Both my mother and mother-in-law had severely undercooked fish. My father-in-law's steak was quite undercooked and my brother in law's steak was so over cooked he could hardly chew it. I had the seafood linguini. It was very cold but I was too hungry to return it to the kitchen. Those of our party who did return their meals to the kitchen received them back almost immediately leading us to believe they were just microwaved. My mother was so upset she didn't even want a new meal and just didn't eat at all. They did replace the overcooked steak and offered us champagne to apologize. They comped our meals and the manager was very apologetic. Our server was very nice but there is obviously something very very wrong in the kitchen. I'm just glad we had our wedding somewhere else so we did not have to relive this catastrophic meal. We were in the area for a wedding but had time to waste during the day. We had heard a lot about the Sagamore and wanted to check it out, but while there we decided to get lunch as well. We chose the Pavilion due to the reasonable prices and the fact that we were casually dressed. The venue was located right on the lake. They had seating both under an awning and in the sun, though we sat under the awning. I spotted heat lamps on the ceiling as well which would make for a nice dinner when it's cooler out! The view was gorgeous from this location. The restaurant had a bar area as well as tables for sitting. The menu had wine and cocktails options, and food choices consisted of sandwiches, salads, some seafood and other entrees. The menu wasn't extremely expansive but there were plenty of options. We were all sold on the natural chicken sandwich so all four of us at the table got it. It was a natural chicken breast grilled with Monterey Jack cheese, avocado, bacon and honey mustard on a roll. You could either get it with fries or coleslaw and it came with a pickle. The sandwich was delicious! My friend has a gluten allergy as well and they were able to accommodate with both the bread and the French fries. The service was impeccable and quick. Definitely a beautiful place with delicious eats to stop and enjoy if in the area! read more

We did not wait long to be seated during lunch. The waiter was at our table within 2 minutes. We ordered the Caribbean Jerk boneless wings. My boyfriend and I were so surprised as to how delicious it was. We actually came back in the evening for more. We ordered the fried shrimp and the fish and chips. Both were delicious. The cod was so flakey! At night we returned for the third time and had a dessert in a jar. It was the turtle candy style one. It was a brownie with a mousse and whipped cream and pecans. For the last few years during our annual visit to Lake George, on a beautiful day, we take a short drive to this Class A resort to enjoy lunch at their mesmerizing outdoor lakeside view restaurant. On this recent visit, before we even entered the hotel, guests can be seen riding a horse carriage (which I never saw in the past). Once you've exited the back of the hotel, you have a panoramic view of the lake, hotel pool, a great big lawn, the hotel itself which is at the top of a hill, and the long decorative center stairs leading down this big hill to the restaurant, where you now get to appreciate all kinds of water activity (boats, paddling, kayaking, ferries) taking place on the lake. Its no wonder there's always a wedding here. We have kids now, and the positive experience was no different. The food menu is simple but sufficient. The lobster roll, burger, fish sandwich, and chicken fingers served with fries all met our expectations and even if there was a deficiency (although there were none), it could easily be made up for by the picturesque view. After our meal, our toddlers/infant enjoyed running/crawling on the lawn. Our waiter, (Howard I believe), and other wait staff were engaging and truly representative of this high calliber resort. We look forward to repeating our annual lunch tradition and coming again here next year. read more

Our only complaint was that our guts were not ready for food this rich especially since portion sizes are now considerably larger than they once were. Hard to give it a number. The setting and mixed drinks are great. You can't find a more picturesque view than this in most places. We had a wide variety of dishes. The lobster bisque was tasty, very rich and I recommend it. The Alaskan King Crab was very good. We ordered the chicken fingers for the kiddos and they were way way too salty. Granted we're coming from California so we may be a little overly health conscious, but when a kid tells you that their chicken is too salty, you know you've overdone it. read more

We eat here several times during the season. The food is usually decent. Today I ordered the Boston Bibb Salad entree for the first time and ordered the grilled chicken with it. It comes with a "shower of Maytag blue cheese". Don't order it unless you expect an appetizer sized salad. There were very few lettuce leaves and you had to lift them up to find a few crumbs of blue cheese. Even the chicken was very skimpy. If my company hadn't offered me a couple of their shrimp and some french fries I would have gone away looking for another meal. I told the waitress if I had known how small the serving was going to be I would have ordered a different lunch. She was sympathetic but said the size was typical.
