Wow, I can't say enough good things about this place. The rating of the place does not reflect what you're getting. Seafood is top quality. We tried a little of everything and it was all amazing. View was fantastic, shout out to the couple that did a proposal with this view ! Service on par, new kid he will get the ropes shortly. We will be back amazing ! Complete your next high end date night, anniversary or special occasion here !

Visiting the Boathouse is always a great experience from the moment you walk in. Friendly staff take care of you while providing spectacular views of the river and city. While the atmosphere is great, the food can be hit or miss. During my last visit I ordered the chowder which was hearty and filled with chunks of potato, bacon, and seafood. It hit the spot on a cold winter day. For my entree I ordered the pork chop at our waiter's recommendation. The seasoning was on point and I particularly enjoyed the braised collard greens and beans that were served with the pork. However, the pork chop was overcooked for my taste and came out dry with an internal temp on the more well done side as opposed to a mid-rare to medium. With entrees at around $30, I expect proteins to be prepared with more intention.

My cousin and I decided to go to this restaurant to catch up and rejuvenate! Jaden was our server and he was phenomenal! We ordered the Belgian waffle and the Shrimp & Grits entrees. My cousin enjoyed her waffle, which was served with warm, fresh berries and whipped cream. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the grits were creamy and tasty. The sausage and blistered tomatoes were a welcome addition to the entree. The entree came with eggs and I chose to have them fried and they were delicious.

I've already written a review for our time on Christmas Eve, but wanted to come back and highly recommend the weight staff by the name of Zhane'. She was very attentive and gracious.

We were seated immediately for lunch. Adore the location which provided a calm atmosphere. We should have came during dinner because I am sure it would have looked amazing. We order the bread basket, raw oysters, lobster, salmon and fish sandwich. We enjoyed all of it.

I hadn't been here in a while, so I took a friend who was visiting from out of town here on Sunday night. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. We timed it perfectly for the sunset and the skyline of the city was great as usual. But after 50 minutes of waiting for our food, the sun had long set and we were just really hungry. I realized why it took so long when the food arrived because the salmon was overcooked by a lot and so was my burger. $18 for a burger that was only slightly better than Hardee's is a huge disappointment. While I'm complaining about the burger, can I ask if maybe they could spare a second slice of cheese? The clam chowder was fine. There was no bread or dipping sauce while we waited and the best they could do was to comp a Coke. Our server was great. She bears no responsibility on the restaurants failures. To add insult to injury there's a 13 1/2% tax because we were in the city.

Trisha was the best sever ever. She made our birthday so special. Definitely will coming just because of her service

Ask the Community - The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing

Do you still have the frustrating contactless ordering from your cell phone?

Hi Forrest, we went back to ordering from your server in 2022. Hope you consider giving us a chance again sometime soon!

Where can I park near the restaurant? Is there a free or paid parking lot/garage?

There are two lots nearby— one at 11 Orleans St. and another right around the corner. Hope to see you soon!

Does this restaurant allow us to bring a dog to the seats outside?

Yes our outdoor patio is dog friendly. Hope to see you soon!

How's the oysters and do they have oyster happy hour?

Hi Dej, Our oysters are part of what earned us recognition as one of Richmond's "Best Seafood" restaurants in the most recent roundup. We have our own private bed at the confluence of the Piankatank River and the Chesapeake Bay, which means we can…

Does this restaurant still use that cumbersome app to order your food instead of having a waiter?

Yes they do. Another reason I wasn't impressed. Maybe I could have made up a vegan dish if I could have talked with somebody.

    Is the patio heated?

No...i just think if the weather is bad then wont sit you out there

    What is the dress code?

Clothing is preferred, I think it may be a requirement.

Do they have happy hour on Saturday?

Happy hour is everyday 1-4 I'm sure

    Is there on site parking?

There is parking along the street and a parking lot at Conch Republic. I've also seen valet service but I'm not sure if it's daily or on the weekends only.

A must stop in the downtown Richmond area!…read more It's truly a speakeasy with the door posing as a bookshelf. To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. It was very spacious with outdoor seating. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.

Love the decor and ambience, service is friendly and helpful and the food and drinks are all creative and delicious. Our second time out we ordered these for cocktails: Daybreak Seersucker Stevie's spell Amelia Earhart Nutty professor We all liked our drinks and mostly each others as well lol. I usually don't order rum drinks but my son's nutty professor was very good especially with the fresh nutmeg on top. For apps we got the shishito peppers, deviled eggs and the grilled albemarle peaches. We enjoyed all of them but my favorite was the peaches and everyone else loved the deviled eggs. For entrees we got the fried catfish, buttermilk braised brisket, grilled pork belly and pan roasted scallops. We all ordered well! We liked the bites from everyone's dish but liked what we ordered for ourselves best. I got the brisket which had such flavor and depth. Had a really healthy portion too so had to box up half and bring it home which is awesome. Parking is on the street which can be a challenge but the walk isn't too bad if it's nice weather. We landed on The Roosevelt, and I can confidently say it was one of the best meals I've had in Richmond. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but we managed to snag two seats at the bar. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming maître d', setting the tone for the evening. The bartenders were equally impressive eith one a true Chatty Cathy, the other more reserved, but both were masters of their craft, creating unique and distinctive cocktails with ease. We started with the cornbread and maple butter syrup. My only complaint? Can a girl get a little more butter? The cornbread itself was dense, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Next came a small plate of squash served over sweet potato hummus. This dish completely surprised me. The flavor profile reminded me of Haitian cuisine, meaning it was warm, layered, slightly sweet, and carrying just enough heat to keep things interesting. It was creative, distinctive, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. For our entrées, Jackie chose the steelhead trout while I opted for the scallops served pescatarian-style with ramp clam chowder. Let me tell you something: this was the first time in my life that I genuinely enjoyed clam chowder. The scallops were perfectly prepared, and the chowder elevated the entire dish. Every bite was exceptional. Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared the chocolate chess pie, and it was everything you want in a chocolate dessert, a dense, fudgy, rich, and utterly decadent. It was so good that I went home, climbed into bed, and happily surrendered to a food coma. What stood out most was that The Roosevelt delivered on every level: hospitality, atmosphere, creativity, and execution. The meal was worth every dime, and I will absolutely be bringing visiting friends and family here in the future. For anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience in Richmond, The Roosevelt has earned a permanent spot on my recommendation list.
