We came to Casa del Barco for a family dinner, and everything was wonderful! I started with the Blueberry Basil Margarita, which was absolutely divine. For my entrée, I ordered the Casa Crunch Burrito. It was incredibly filling and flavorful, and the chicken was seasoned very well. My brother also ordered a burrito--I can't remember its name, but it was topped with queso and tasted delicious. My mother had the Birria de Res Tacos, which came with an incredibly flavorful consommé. Dipping the tacos took them to another level, although they were delicious enough to stand on their own. Our server, Alondra, was wonderful. She greeted us with a smile, remained attentive, and helped make our experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant's interior was also beautiful, with decorative bottles and artwork displayed throughout the space, creating a fun and inviting ambiance. We visited for dinner on a Wednesday. The restaurant was pleasantly not busy, offering a very calm and enjoyable dining atmosphere. The staff was kind and attentive. I appreciated that our food came out quickly. They use good ingredients across the board. The atmosphere is enhanced by nice decor that makes the whole experience feel welcoming and vibrant. I'm a big sweets person so I always tend to get dessert. The Mexican churros are incredibly rich, but they pair absolutely perfectly with the dulce de leche gelato. The only real logistical caveat is the parking. You must use a local lot, and the price is a fixed rate of $12.50 for 12 hours, with no lower hourly option available. Came here before a concert at the amphitheater and ordered margaritas and food. Briana was our server and she walked us through our drink options and helped us with some preferences we had for our food. We wanted a leisurely meal and she gave us that, while checking on us throughout the evening. The food was delicious and on point with flavor. Phenomenal restaurant with a great bar. If I could give six stars to service I would. The queso, guac, and salsa are delicious with the right amount of kick, though maybe a bit too much spice for my weak stomach to be mixing with drinks at the bar. The chips are fresh and delicious. My friend got a guava cocktail with tajin on the rim and she loved it. I ordered a Californian Wheat Beer that was alright, it had a unique taste that I haven't had in other wheat beers, but it was still enjoyable. The bartender immediately asked to fill our water bottles as we entered and I knew the service would be exceptional. He was very friendly and attentive, in a way that leaves a lasting impression, surpassing ordinary "good" service. The atmosphere was great with plenty of TVs and good mood lighting. I used to frequent Casa Del Barco but haven't been in recent years. The location on the canal is super cute and convenient to many downtown locations. I was disappointed that the menu, which used to be very clearly labeled with gluten free items, had very few gluten free items marked. In fact, one item that was marked gluten free included fried shrimp and a flour tortilla (not gluten free) but the bean and rice bowl I ordered was gluten free but not labeled. This new menu presents very real safety concerns for people with allergies. We considered going elsewhere before ordering but the server on this trip was incredible, checking with the chef about gluten safe items which is how we identified the bowl was still safe for me. The food was good and the service was great but, if you have food allergies or intolerances, use caution. If you have Celiac, do not eat there. I shouldn't have risked it and got sick quickly. read more

The location on the canal is beautiful and the inside of the restaurant is fun with the tequila bottles used as decor all over the place and the lighting of the bottles on the walls and hanging over head. The food and the service were both meh...Tacos were extremely small and the meat in the burritos was overcooked to the point that it was crunchy. We were a large party and our food not only took a VERY long time, but it then came out at different times creating that awkward sit-there- with-your-food-in-front-of-you-until-others-around-you-get-their-food. Server attentiveness was nothing exceptional as we had to ask for drink refills and get missing ordered items. Nice atmosphere, but probably wouldn't go back again. read more

I come to Casa Del Barco for the vibes. It's right on the canal so there are stunning outdoor seating options as well as plenty of great seating indoors with really nice natural lighting. Service is pretty quick here and there are a lot of food options. Every time I've been here, the food I've ordered is fine. I will say I've enjoyed their guacamole fresco! On my last visit, I got the baja fish burrito and found myself wishing there was a bit more seasoning and flavor. I would be curious to return to see what their drinks are like, especially during happy hour. read more

Parking was a bit of a pain, but we were looking forward to trying this place. It was pretty empty, and we sat out on the patio, which was actually really pleasant. Our initial server was great, but things went downhill from there. About an hour before closing, we decided we wanted to order food (just appetizers), and a different waitress told us the kitchen was closed. We stayed, finished our drinks, and I later saw other tables ordering--so clearly, that wasn't true. The margaritas were also a letdown. Expensive and underwhelming--I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and got a regular lime one with only layer of strawberry. Not what I expected, and definitely not worth the price. Between the misinformation, bad drinks, and the fact that it was nearly empty with no reason to rush us out, the whole experience just left a bad taste. Don't think I'll be back. read more

Great place to stop in for a happy hour. Their blood orange margaritas are fantastic and you can't beat their nachos! Bartenders and wait staff are always friendly and personable. I wish happy hour was included in the entire restaurant and patio but you have to sit at bar, which can be less appealing especially if you have several people in your party. They do have some high-tops nearby the bar, but due to the structure of the building the tables have a huge column in the middle and can make it difficult to have a conversation with other members of your party. We waited at the entrance for several minutes while a number of people walked by and told us, "Someone will be with you soon." We were eventually seated in a mostly empty restaurant, and it took a while for our server to come to our table. I opted for the avocado Caesar salad with chicken, and my friend got the casa rice and bean bowl with mushrooms. She said she really enjoyed her meal, but I found my salad to be lacking in flavor (even with a chipotle Caesar dressing), room temperature, and with pretty fatty pieces of chicken. After ordering food and water and drinks, we waited for 20 minutes and the bartender did everything but Work we never got waters drinks or food delivered to us so after 20 minutes we walked out. They charge my card for everything and included their tip for themselves. I called back to explain the situation. The manager told me she would refund the money and never did then the next day I talked to her again and she said I ate the food. We never got food.
