This isn't a review to bash this restaurant, just my opinion of the food. First, I'll say it was packed and people seemed to really enjoy their meals. We went three years ago and it just seems different. We started with raw oysters that were, unfortunately, tasteless. No oyster flavor, no brine flavor. Only tasted horseradish and cocktail sauce. We created our own pot with lobster tails, dungeonese crab, and XL snow crab. The boiling house sauce was soooo over powering that you couldn't taste the actual seafood. Just garlic (LOTS) and seasonings. One of our lobster tails were mushy, sadly. Service was attentive, restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. We just really didn't enjoy the food style. The seafood here are HUGE in size. Not in portion. I mean huge as in the shrimp is honestly jumbo shrimps and the muscles are large. Me and my boyfriend came here and ordered two pounds of shrimp and one pound of mussels. When it first came out we thought they had made a mistake since it seemed like such little food compared to what we were used to in New York. But we were wrong. The shrimps were double the size from 'The Boil' and the mussels were the biggest I've seen. Although the medium sauce was lacking flavor I high recommend the house special sauce in hot. We also ordered Cajun fries which did not disappoint and the service was friendly as well. If you need a drink to dose the spiciness I highly recommend the lemonade. I love crab legs and couldn't wait to try this place off of a YouTube review. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience. We (me and 1 other person) arrived just in time to be seated at the last table. *I suggest making reservation* Our server (name began w/a J) was not pleasant at all. There was no welcome, suggestions, nothing!! Just a "Do you know what you want?" I dismissed his attitude, placed my order and still didn't receive all that was ordered, which were only potatoes n corn...but still. We ordered snow crab legs w/shrimp (head removed), Garlic Butter and Old Bay seasoning. The shrimp tasted over-cooked. The crab legs we felt needed more seasoning and the seasoning I did receive was just garlic butter, no old bay. Someone near us ordered the seafood rice which looked amazing. Also, this is a BYOB and a Beer and Wine store is nearby. I was expecting a different experience since it's Cherry Hill and wasn't all to impressed with my food. I had initially intended on taking my date to another seafood place in Franklinville which I'm familiar with but decided on this place just to try sometime new. I have to say this place was awesome. Tucked away in Tuscany Plaza, I've driven past here multiple times and never realized the amount of resturants that are in this square. For today let's focus on this one. The menu is set up so you can create your own pot with per pound offerings of various seafood, flavorings, and sides. The quality of the seafood is off the charts and I didnt find a flimsy crab leg in the bunch. The boil house broth was also amazing (a combo of garlic butter, lemon, and cajun seasoning). I'd recommend getting a side of bread to soak up all the broth. Everything is also thought out in terms of bibs, gloves, tools to assist with your crabs, and wipes. So mo one can use the excuse that they are worried about getting messy. The staff is also very attentative, friendly, and helpful with any questions. Aside from then pots, you can also get fried rice, stir fries, and a variety of appetizers. The garlic noodles by themselves were definately one of the star dishes today. I'd come back just for that. There is a thick coating on the noodles that helps the little pieces of garlic cling to the noodle and if you let the food cool and the coating thicken up, it makes it that much better. While seafood focused restaurants can seem expensive and portions can feel small, any doubts in at least giving this place a shot at least once can be washed away after tasting the amazing flavors and quality this establishment has to offer. We had some trepidation from the other Yelp reviews because of the reports of long waits for food and spotty service but we decided to give this newer, local restaurant a try last Saturday night. The Boiling House's location once housed French restaurant Dream Cuisine. The interior is brightly colored and there are several TV's on the wall. It took the staff a little bit of time to greet us. We told them we did not have a reservation and hoped we could get a table. The restaurant was only 1/2 full. After a brief discussion they were able to seat us. The Boiling House, like other restaurants (Hot & Juicy, Bistro SouthEast, Crabby Cafe, etc) of this style puts a big piece of paper over the table and provides a bucket for the shells. We ordered the shrimp and snow crab boil, garlic noodles, sweet potato fries and spring rolls. The Good - The food was excellent, we had the Cajun sauce for the boil and it was delicious and the seafood tasted fresh. We asked for medium heat and this was not spicy, if you like heat you should ask for a higher level. The garlic noodles were very good also and the sweet potato fries were outstanding. The one disappointing point about the boil was that potatoes, corn and sausage were all an extra charge. Usually there are a few pieces of these items included in the other boil type restaurants we have tried. Service was spotty the whole night. Our original waiter disappeared and we had a couple of other ones. I don't know where he went. The food took about 25-30 minutes to come out which isn't terrible. However the spacing was a bit off. The first item to arrive was the garlic noodles. Then after about 10 minutes the spring rolls and the two boil items came out together. It would have been better if the spring rolls came out first and then the noodles with the seafood. The staff at the Boiling House seemed a bit overwhelmed also and that is probably due to some growing pains. They didn't give us bibs, or plastic gloves that some other tables had. These usually come in the bucket; we had to ask for the bibs. We did have a nice meal at the Boiling House and for right now patience is a virtue. Even with spotty service and odd pacing, the food was excellent and I hope this restaurant's service will improve and the Boiling House will flourish. We got a create your own bucket, the seafood rice, and garlic noodles. Everything in the bucket was great but the potato which had a black piece of something in it when we cut it open. It was unappetizing honestly but we continued to eat because the crab legs and lobster were delicious. The seafood rice was good and the garlic noodles were good also but it was extremely heavy on the garlic. I love garlic and it was a lot. This place has ben on my radar for years! I mean look at the pictures..... all delicious seafood! And not gonna lie, all the youtube videos of people eating seafood has made me want to try this place even more. Hubs and I came here on a date night and it was a nice shake up to our normal dinner night out. DO NOT wear anything cute- you will get messy. At least I was a hot mess.... anyway, the seafood here is super fresh. We got two different pots with their famous sauce. I would get the crab legs, and shrimp again but I would actually try a different sauce. There was nothing special about their special sauce. We also got their garlic noodles- if you come here for only the garlic noodles, I would not judge you... they are that good. This spot is also a BYO which is a big plus! A real treat for seafood lovers. This low key, hidden from the main road joint was one of the best discoveries I've found recently. My birthday coincided with father's day so I didn't want to deal with the hassle of going out on fathers's day weekend and decided to celebrate my birthday a week early here. The dining room area was beautiful and modern. While most seafood boil places are set up like a bar, at Boiling House, you feel like you're in a fancy modern restaurant. The service was also amazing. You can choose from the menu or make your own seafood boil. First, you pick your seafood then pick the sauce that you want and finally, the spice level. I opted for their Sea Festival, which came with king crab, snow crab, Dungeness crabs, lobsters, potatoes and corns, sausages, two pounds of live crawfish, 2 fresh lemonade and garlic noodles. This order was about $150 and fed 4 people. I highly recommend the Boiling House sauce and spicy. The seafood was just amazing, everything tasted fresh and they had some huge crawfish. The sauce was very buttery and flavorful. The main surprise hit was actually the garlic noodles. Their noodles had a chewy textures that held against their super flavorful sauce. Overall, this place was solid. Although on the higher price of things, you cannot really complaint because of their location. I will be back here many times and bring lots of friends! I wonder why the place haven't had a higher ratings. Although it may not be Louisiana or Texas, Boiling House is representing the East Coast pretty well. First I'd like to say my boyfriend and I were pretty excited to try this place, we love seafood and kept seeing this restaurant on IG. However I would strongly warn that you call ahead on special occasions for pre-select menus since you won't find out on their website. We happened to go on Valentines Day and was a little surprised they only offered a pre-select menu with two options. We discovered this once we were seated. This would've been nice to know ahead of time because we definitely would've went somewhere else after seeing the menu. But where can you go on Valentine's Day without reservations last minute lol There was a $70 per person option and $85 per person option without the ability to add any additional items from their regular menu or substitute. The pre-select menu included choosing 2 appetizers, the boil included 2 crab clusters, a whole lobster, our choice of shrimp 3 potatoes, 2 corns and a shared desert. There was also a 18% automatic gratuity added. Honestly, the value here was about $70 if I made this at home and definitely wasn't worth $200+ dollars. The seasoning of the boil was not that great and didn't seem fresh. We've had our share of seafood boils and this one tasted bland and honestly unseasoned. The sauce also seemed watery which tells me the boil was probably frozen and reheated with extra seasoning dumped on top re-heated then served. There are some pros to this place (reason for the two stars!) Our server was great! They do play music, BYOB, outdoor dining in the warm months and regular menu items are priced reasonably. There are better seafood places out there however if you do try this place I'd recommend avoiding them on special occasions. read more

Watch out! Very limited menu, HIGH prices (~$100 per person) around/on holidays. Not worth it for casual place. We were forced to order out of only 2 combos for Valentine's Day. I wish they would have given us a heads up about the regular menu not available when we made the reservation. Also, if you go alone on Valentine's Day, you're pretty much screwed and HAVE to order the bucket for 2 ($170) because it only caters to couples. If you go with a friend or mom/dad, you both HAVE to eat the same thing because the combo is shared. LAME. So for close to $300 for 2 people, you're better off going to a nice fancy place like Capital Grille with higher quality food, much classier ambiance, and more pampering service. Before we got are ordered taking the server kept coming up too use to take our order after he gave us the food we didn't see him again. Couldn't tell you how the food is because we didn't make it that far. Made reservations for Mothers Day with wife and kids. Reservations were made 2 days prior. At no point were we informed that it was a limited menu for that day. To make matters worse, there were only 3 family feast options on the menu, all over $200. We didn't want to drop $200 only for our kids to walk out still hungry because they won't fill up on seafood. I've worked in service industry before so I understand that this is common practice for busy holidays (Mothers Day, Vday, etc). The frustrating part is that this information was not shared at any point. Nothing was mentioned in the email, no phone call, nothing listed on their website, nothing. We got the seafood lovers dish for two. I have to say I was a little nervous about the quality of the food after our calamari app was brought out. These were definitely straight from a bag and not fresh whatsoever. They were larger than typical and just not good. Our server did bring us fries to enjoy instead with our meal. My husband really enjoyed the garlic noodles. The seafood (crabs, shrimp, mussels) were really good and hit the spot! Large portion even for two people. The hubs just got butter and a side of old bay seasoning. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfect. The butter noodle and my side were also delicious. The restaurant is a little small but the ambience of the atmosphere was great. The music they was playing was a mix of oldies. I waitress was awesome and for a seafood restaurant their prices were not expensive. They have a variety of food on there menu such as fried rices, wing dings, bang bang shrimp tacos, fries, salad, etc. It's pretty much a seafood heaven. This was doing the covid era, the only complaint I have is because the restaurant is small it's hard to social distance, we were seating in the middle of two tables and at first it was okay but eventually more people started to come in and they were seating them. Basically, it started to get a little crowded and tight. Even though I was done my food I asked for a to go box, which I was surprised of the tin foil pan they give you. Most places put your food in a bag. Oh and the bathrooms are clean too. They do have outside seating, but with the snow on the ground they was only serving indoors. I paid 52.09 for disease infected crabs. While shopping in Nj today I was in the mood for seafood boil... I did a search and this location came up. I ordered the dungeon and shrimp platter mild. I couldn't wait to get home to tear into my platter for 52.09 I knew I was going to experience the seafood porn of my lifetime. Boy was i in for a surprise. When I arrived home I couldn't wait and begin eating with no lights on in my kitchen, I put the platter in the oven to warm up while I settled in. Once I seat down and started eating again I noticed white hard balls on my crab legs and the seasoning was nowhere near mild. (I can't tolerate spicy) I googled what these hard small eggshell looking things were on the crabs and it showed they're diseased infested crabs. Goggle said they're not harmful when cooked but why would I want any kind of food that was diseased infested especially during the coronavirus season. I'm totally disappointed and even more so because I live in Philadelphia. Follow I contacted the restaurant over 10xs regarding these disgusting crabs I received. The crabs were covered with white hard shell like spots that were identified on google as disease infested crabs. Needless to say the manager refused to return my call and each employee I conversed with promised me the owner would reach out to me. I'm not happy considering I live in Philadelphia and I purchased these from their cherry hill location. I was willing to work with the manager but I have had no other choice but to file a dispute with my bank considering the manager is a coward and is only willing to take my money and not willing to contact me for his disgusting crabs!!! This is our first time here and we were blown away by the experience. Our waiter, Andrew, was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. He sat us down and prompted asked us for drink orders, as well as, explaining the menu and listing the popular dishes. An extra star that I gave this place is purely because of how clean the establishment and service is. Andrew took our complicated order without writing it down. When I checked into YELP I received a coupon for a free fresh lemonade worth ($3). I ordered 1lb of fresh crawfish ($9/lb) and 1lb of frozen crawfish ($14/lb) with mild boiling house sauce. I added two extra corn and potatoes. The sauce was delicious and there was a generous helping. I wanted to try out the difference between the frozen and fresh crawfish, and discovered there was a big difference in size. Next time, I'll get 2lbs of the fresh. My partner ordered the snow crab cluster with the same sauce. I do want to comment that we ordered it with sausages and that the kitchen forgot ir. The hostess explained that there was a SET MENU for tonight. THIS WAS NOT ON YOUR WEBSITE WHEN I MADE MY RESERVATION OR I WOULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN THIS RESTAURANT. Because it was last minute, we didn't leave thinking it would have been difficult to find another restaurant within 15 minutes. Our waitress was nice but the PRICE AND FOOD QUALITY was not up to par as my previous visit in 2021. THERE IS NO WAY we should have been charged $140 per couple for a meal (according to your menu) cost $78.00 for all 5 of the items received (Shrimp cocktail, bang bang shrimp tacos (which was not listed on the menu properly, it said bang bang shrimp which was what we were expecting NOT TACOS), Seafood fried rice, Lobster Mac & Cheese and a slice of cake. THERE IS NO WAY YOU SHOULD BE CHARGING $62 OVER for that. After discussing the menu with the waitress she was able to add dungeness crabs and a seafood fried rice at a reasonable price. In total this evening our bill came to $248.00 for 4 people with the taxes and $38 gratuity charge. THIS WAS HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND UNACCEPTABLE. Pros: First- BYOB! yeah! We ordered the seafood pot for 2 in garlic butter broth. I'd say it was the right amount of food. It was cooked perfectly as far as seafood texture is concerned. Overall tasty. Ambiance is spot on here. It reminds me of restaurants on the lower east side in Manhattan. Mostly cool tones and woods with one pop of color with an orange wall. Restaurant seemed neat and clean. Decent space between tables etc. Cons: 1) We chose shrimp as one of our meats and didn't realize it wouldn't be peeled, it's not even easy peel shrimp. It's full shrimp. You have to de-shell and de-vain it yourself (ie Remove the "waste" from the shrimp). 2) The garlic butter broth was actually too buttery for my preference. Next time I'd get simple old bay seasoning. 3) I ordered a diet soda and would have preferred to have that in place of the lemonde (which comes with the meal - lemonade is just too sugary for me). But there is no swapping of drinks. Probably because of #4 ...which is 4) they don't have fountain soda..what comes out is a can of soda with a glass of ice. (And obviously no free refills- on an $85 dinner for two. Hmm). 5) Finally, they really need to bring every table hot washcloths with lemon the way Redstone does. Your hands get messy fast. Overall this is a pretty cool place and I'd come back. However I think I would stick to noodles or fried rice type stuff. Lug a bottle of wine and call it a night. If they made a few changes it would be even better. But considering this is a small hole in the wall place I think it's cool and there isn't much like it in this area. read more

My food was good but the sauce could have been more seasoned, I've had better seafood sauce. I ordered the combo with a whole lobster, shrimp, Dungeness crab clusters with corn and potatoes. We had a gift certificate here so we decided to take advantage of it and order tons of food to bring back to the hotel. First of all, in the dark of winter, it was really hard to find. Look for the entrance just after the Jaguar dealership and park in the back, walking through a small courtyard. The restaurant is on the left among all the businesses. We had a somewhat complicated order but they did everything right. All told, the meal came out to about $140 or so, but we ordered the garlic noodles (we should have ordered more, they were Da BOMB), two orders of Vietnamese fried egg rolls (surprisingly good), seafood rice (pricy and decent amount of seafood, just disappointingly dry), and several pounds of assorted mussels, jumbo shrimp, oysters. Now let me note that we three who were dining on this meal are no lightweights when it comes to an appetite and we certainly had our fill. We opted for the special house sauce and it was deeeeeeelish - nice kick. Lemme have some more of that! Big messy eating and thoroughly enjoyable. I also noted to the restaurant that we were eating this at a hotel, and they generously provided lots of napkins and extra empty containers for us to dump all our "empties" (ie shells) to keep a mess in the hotel room to a minimum. read more

Loved that outdoor dining, the location is perfect. The wait staff are super nice! Our food took a Little long to come to the table. The food was ok. I ordered the seafood fried rice. I must say the portion was enough for two people. read more

This restaurant has been on my list for months. Since we were in the area, I suggested we stop by as a birthday treat for my friend. We ordered two clusters of snow crab leg clusters 1.25 lbs. for $30 each set, fries, she ordered potatoes and a corn on the cob. I ordered them with old bay seasoning and a side of their most popular house sauce blend of garlic butter, lemon pepper and cajun to try. The crabs were a tad overcooked and dry and the sauce may have helped but I wasn't a fan of it. It just wasn't to my liking but it's a matter of preference. I hear that many customers love it. We ran into an issue when my friend ordered Old Bay and the sauce on the side, but they sprinkled the Old Bay on the clusters. She wanted to control the amount of seasoning due to health issues, which is why she ordered it on the side. Like me, she wanted to at least try it. Something in the Old Bay made her choke a bit but she didn't want to complain. She decided that she would try wiping it off with a napkin, so when the waiter asked how it was, she reminded him that she ordered on the side but that she would try to make the best of it to not cause a problem after he offered to redo the order. He apologized and said that he would tell the cook / manager that the order wasn't as requested so he's aware. When he stopped by a second time, she had no choice but to agree to his offer. Where they went wrong is that all they did was pour water over them to try to wash off the seasoning. It was the same batch because she choked again since some of the pepper on the seasoning must have gotten in the shell. We also know it was the same batch because a piece of the leg she broke off when she first tried it was there as well. Needless to say, it made her choke again. We mentioned this to the waiter and he said he would mention it, but never did a manager stop by to check in. I think we would've understood had he said that, unfortunately, they can't afford to serve another batch but because they tried to be sneaky by washing off the clusters and potatoes, etc. it ruined the experience. I'm rating them two stars only because I see potential. However, because they were careless and didn't stop to think of the consequences of reserving a dish to a customer who initially ordered with a specific preference but --they made a mistake-- and who shared she couldn't handle the seasoning and thinking it was okay to solve the issue by washing it off, I just couldn't justify a higher score. read more

If more than two people complain about the same thing maybe, just maybe there could be problem. Came here on Friday night after watching our granddaughter cheer. We weren't dress in our 10th anniversary best but we weren't slumming either. We get greeted and seated. The server/manager asked if we had been here before to which we said No. He explained the menu.. we ordered.. our food came and we didn't see him or the other waitress until our check came. While eating another couple came. Dress nicely.. the menu explained.. they ordered ... their food came. 5 minutes later the manager asked "How did you hear about us?"... 5 minutes later the waitress"How is everything?"... 10 minutes later waitress"Everything OK?"... end of meal: Manager" How was the food?" Customer(slamming money on table) Overcooked and tasted like rubber!!!" The place looks like a elegant sports bar. The Wife ordered the crab boil with potatoes, corn and spicy season which she enjoyed. I had the garlic shrimp noodles which was just OK. Because she loved the crabs she wants to go back. What a great dining night out. From the front desk to all the staff, everyone was pleasant and attentive. I went with the "build a pot" option and I left full and satisfied. The House seasoning was spot on and the Andouille sausage was the best I've ever had anywhere. Prices were reasonable and definitely didn't feel ripped off after this great meal. Three stars, but that had a lot to do with service being good. As far as the food was concerned, I was pretty underwhelmed, if I'm being honest. Having rather recently dined at a different seafood boil establishment (The Shaking Crab in Norfolk VA), I had a pretty good comparison pretty fresh in my mind, and with that, The Boiling House under-delivered. Celebrating my mothers graduation, we decided to stop in and get a little messy on some seafood!.....or Vietnamese noodles. Apparently this place is both a seafood boil AND Asian noodle house. Ooook. After my mom threw the whole night into turmoil by ordering off the menu (which the staff WERE gracious enough to accommodate), we got on track and ordered. One vegan in our party went with just cajun fries. (Not many vegan options here, if thats a concern for you.) Another has an issue with seeing her food look like it looks before its food (why did we come here again?) so she went with some noodles, and my mother was playing fast and loose with the menu, so as far as the SEAFOOD BOIL goes, it was down to my sister and I to split a bucket. Snow crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, corn and a ciabatta roll; boiling house sauce, medium. First thing that was weird was that although everything has to be ordered by the pound, our crab legs had to be ordered in 1 1/4 pound increments. uh.....ok. Whatever. Second thing is that, the corn was mushy. Boiling corn must be a hard thing to do, as it was the same problem at the Shaking Crab. Third thing, and this is a big deal, were the shrimp. The shrimp were a good size, but they may as well have been made of pencil erasers. They were SOOOOOO chewy, and way more egregious than that, the shrimp weren't cleaned. Yuck. It took me 10 minutes before I could even start eating, because I had to clean every shrimp myself. The rest of the food was OKAY. The crab legs were fine, the potatoes were fine, but nothing blew me away. The sauce was.....ok. Decent flavor, decent heat....a little watery....I was just like, "meh," the whole meal. Our server was cool, and put up with a lot, (my mother is a handful) but he was polite throughout; asking the kitchen to make her special dish, and even pointing out to us that there is a military discount, so we got 10% off of the meal. The place was nice inside and its BYOB with no corkage, so they definitely have that going for them. I can't say for sure either way if I'd be back or not. Again, I wasn't thrilled with the meal, but aside from the shrimp, I wasn't put off by anything either. I guess we'll see. Oh, the floor is like the Icecapades. We all almost broke our necks walking in, and our waiters assistant slipped and knocked over a bucket of ice. Wear something with some grip. read more

Owner Tim, despite serving asian food at the restaurant, did not hire my friend as a sever due to her race (he texted another waiter asking what her race was). Instead of rejecting outright, wasted her time driving between locations in order to talk to him. Glad that the other location, the boiling pot, closed down. read more
