Honestly, it was way too much food for two people, but I wanted to sample everything and I'm glad I did. The seafood was fresh, meaty, and perfectly cooked. Their special sauce was the star of the show rich, garlicky, and at the mild spicy level it had just enough kick to keep every bite exciting without overwhelming the natural sweetness of the seafood. Dipping crab legs into that sauce was pure happiness. The garlic noodles deserve a shoutout too: savory, buttery, and the perfect companion to all the seafood richness. Longtime loyal customer, but my last visit was a disaster. The crab legs were dark, mushy, and smelled fishy/spoiled (see photo). After throwing out the almost $90 order and unfortunately ordering Domino's, I called the next day. (As I was too frustrated that same evening and wanted to remain professional) The restaurant offered 20% off my next visit, (why would I return to a place that tried to mask old/spoiled crab with seasoning?). I told them I would prefer a full or even a partial refund. They then contacted the owner who said I could only get a refund if I retrieved the uneaten portion of crabs from my apartment complex dumpster. They even suggested I might be making it up for a refund and told me "others had snow crabs yesterday with no complaints." This isn't about a free meal; I've gladly spent hundreds of dollars here over the years, it's about respect and food safety. Loyal customers shouldn't be treated like scammers. Completely unacceptable. If you still decide to eat takeout CHECK YOUR FOOD FIRST. Be warned. read more

We order from here regularly, have never ordered in but I've been in person to pick up an order and the ambiance is great! Classy but casual. Plenty of parking in the back, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Menu is great, there's something for everyone. We like to get a few combos as a family and then split them. It was the very small tip of the corn cob lol, and I'm used to getting at least three small potatoes and at least two pieces of medium sized corn in crab broil spots. Just the fact that they decided to send that out to the dining area for 30+ dollars is quiet wild for me. I am always both hesitant and excited to try a new seafood spot especially since the quality, quantity, and cost can sometimes be drastically different. This past Saturday we went to the Adventure aquarium and wanted to get seafood before we headed back to NYC. Originally we went to another seafood spot on NJ 38 but it was packed (definitely covid violation). So sadly but safely I yelped for another spot and this spot came up. The pictures that were already posted do not do this place justice! Based on the pictures already posted here, you might think that it's an okay seafood spot but it isn't: The seafood boil was amazing!!!!!! And the place was practically empty on a Saturday night! Their house sauce was everything. It seemed like the seafood was cooked Vietnamese style. I ordered 1lb of shrimp with 1lb of green mussels and 1/2 sausage and it was soooooo goood and sooo much. In order to properly review OC I would think you have to go in for a shrimp/crab boil spread out on the paper table clothes with a big group of friends and have a big old rum drink or case of beer! I had two issues though- I wasn't crazy about the sauce we had and I think bread to sop up the sauce would have ended the entree right. Oceancrat is located along side or a shared building with Kazumi Sushi but I don't think the restaurants are related or have the same ownership. Oceancrat is owned by the Megu Sushi people. On this Saturday night the place was almost completely full and doing very well. Oceancrat used to be an Asian restaurant called Jade, if my memory serves. It seems as they kept that basic decor but added some nets and other ocean and fishing kitsch to give a more beach type vibe. It works well enough with the concept. The tables use a simple paper covering that is popular with seafood or crab style restaurants. We ordered the bucket for two. This choice had shrimp, muscles and king crab legs with corn and potatoes. This thing was huge and could easily be shared between 3 people. We chose the mild garlic butter sauce. Everything tasted fresh and had the boil taste one will find at Hot & Juicy or Bistro South East. The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food and also the quality. We could not finish the whole bucket and took some home. If how busy they were is any indication, Oceancrat will do very well and will become even more popular. They have only been open three months. We were taking a friend (originally from Louisiana) out for a birthday dinner and knowing he loves cajun creole, this spot sounded great. He lives in the area and had no idea this was so close to him. We went with the hushpuppies for a starter. I don't think marinara should be served with them and to be super honest, did not need a sauce at all. They're awesome alone. If you don't know, look into how the hushpuppies got their name, it's history. Kelly went with half dozen raw oysters and said they were great. There were 3 of us eating, each got our own 'bucket' and would just pick from each other. I went with the mussels, lemon garlic, mild and side share garlic noodles. I loved the boiled potato that was soaking up in the sauce. I gave my corn on the cob piece away (I'm weird, I only eat it off the cob). Reggie went with shrimp head off, oceancrat seasoning, medium spice. Kelly got blue crab, 1/2 sausage (highly recommend this!), cajun, HOT, and they shared the fried rice. My mom and brother aren't big seafood fans, so they got calamari, fried scallops, shrimp, and cajun fries. The said the calamari was average (not pictures) but the fried scallops were DELICIOUS! I tried them myself and they had the best flavor! Fries were good as well. I ordered a bucket with a pound of black mussels and 1/2 a pound of shrimp with the head off. It comes with corn and potatoes and I added sausage. My flavor was garlic butter with mild hotness. DELICIOUS!!! I made it about 95% through but it was a pretty large portion! The seafood was amazing and I loved the potatoes! My dad got a pound of Alaskan king crab legs and 1/2 a pound of crawfish, with extra corn. He loved it so much!! This was truly a fun experience!! Just a side note, I added garlic noodles with my bucket and they were the BEST thing I had there. A whole bowl of creamy buttery garlicy noodles. My family was stealing them off my plate! Most was unedible. Wouldnt have been a big deal if the manager would have offered to fix anything when I kindly asked and said that mistakes happen. He barely spoke English and started yelling at me. Refused to remake it or give me any refund or credit or anything. Ruined mom's birthday and was horribly mean. Was uncalled for especially because I was extra kind in explaining over and over and showing him. Dont eat or order from here.
