First time customers :) The wait staff was super welcoming and helpful with any menu questions. Sweet tea was on point and my girlfriend said it was the best Snow Crab she's ever had. I really REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I had to remove one. First, the 4 stars: eating at The Boiling Pot is an experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and the different dining approach. Each table is dressed with a roll of paper towels, salt/pepper, a cup with crayons and white paper covering the table to draw on while you wait (doubles as a placemat when you eat). You are also invited to write on the walls, even the bathroom walls. The waitstaff ties a bib around your neck upon introducing themselves. Lauren was our waitress. She was very attentive even for the busy crowd she had in her section. This started our dining experience off well. No fried foods, only boiled. We ordered the Super Combo priced at $96.95. You can specify the level of spicy you want. When your order arrives, the server pours the items onto the table and you eat from there; no plates. You are given a mallet, scissors and warm butter. And now, for the meal! One pound of Blue crab, one pound of Dungeness crab, one pound of Snow crab, one pound of shrimp, one pound of sausage, potatoes and corn. It's is definitely enough food for 2 people. It's a lot! All of the crab was delicious and the sausage was great. I removed one star because the shrimp was overcooked, the corn was overcooked and the potatoes were undercooked. What a shame. To finish your experience, the waitstaff brings a baby Solo cup of water with a lemon wedge for cleaning your fingers. But, if you don't need to fully wash your hands after your meal, you did it wrong. Lol All in all, I would return for another visit. The place was busy even at 3:45 pm on a Sunday. We had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for a table. To me, that's a positive sign. I don't mind waiting for good food and a fun experience. One thing to note, there are 3 sections of seating. Outside covered patio, main indoor and what looks like an addition that is also indoors. Luckily, we were able to get a table in the add-on structure. The lighting is much better and the tables are spaced better. I wasn't impressed with the regular seating area because it was so dark in that section. Ask for whichever seating suits you best. A family favorite every time we come to Rockport. The shrimp and crab (King, Blue and Dungeness) are always fresh and well prepared. And then there's the crawfish...I think I would get divorced if we ever came to town during crawfish season and didn't stop here. My wife loves it. Seasoning is medium, not hot but you can always ask them to kick it up for you. Other good items are the gumbo and Red beans and rice. There is certainly a Cajun vein running through this place. Service is good. Beers are cold. During Covid times, they make sure everyone has sanitized hands and that any kids just stay seated at all times. They make sure all parties are away from one another with enough space. The red beans and rice and gumbo were both good with a lot of flavor. The overall experience was soured substantially by a subpar boil. The kid's hot dog is a joke. A hot dog on white bread with a bag of Lay's regular potato chips. The options for non seafood eaters are nonexistent. The place itself is a dive with dirty bathrooms. Service was just ok. We had to wait to find the server to get refills. Bad food + $100 check for 3 people = never going back here again. read more

Hostess tried to seat us in the out building. This was 5:00 pm on a Friday. Only a hand full of customers in the main restaurant. 90% of the tables in the main restaurant building was empty. Yet this hostess wanted to seat us in the overflow building which is essentially a warehouse with tables. There was no heat (it was cold outside!) There was no music playing. And we were the only ones that was in this building! So we asked to be moved to the main restaurant. They didn't seem to have a problem seating us here. When it came to our waitress explaining their menu, she had a hard time explaining their beers on the menu. It was difficult to understand her explanation of wild caught vs. farm-raised oysters. When are food came, our waitress just dumped our food on our table without giving us an option to keep our food in the bowl which another waitress gave to another table. When our waitress dumped our food on the table, the liquid in the bowl almost poured all over my husband's lap. We had to rush with mounds of paper towels to stop the liquid flow from pouring all over my husband's pants! Then it took forever for our waitress to recognize we needed another drink. She was practically awol most of the time. And after we paid our bill, we realized why. As we are walking out to our car, there were all 4 waitresses/ hostesses outside of the restaurant socializing among themselves. No wonder we got the service we did. We found this place on Yelp while visiting Rockport this past weekend and had a pretty good time! The food was decent since we were looking for a seafood joint by the beach. The waitress was very friendly, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed and friendly as well. The food was good, I just couldn't seem to understand why a seafood place that sells seafood, would run out of seafood LOL! They were out of blue crab and snow crab and the 1st two menu items consisted of those two crab options. Usually if a place is out of something they'll allow you to substitute and just take the hit price wise to ensure the customer is happy. Well they allowed substitution but it was for more shrimp or sausage and potatoes. They didn't offer head off shrimp for an extra fee which was disappointing, I eat seafood every month at least once and every restaurant I've gone to offered to remove the head for an extra fee. My friend had to cut the head off for me while I wasn't watching . Other than that, the place was great! read more

Tables covered in paper with crayons so you can draw. It's always packed and usually a 20 min wait. The food is Cajun boil style. You order depending on the size of your party and then they dump it on your table. Fresh warm bread too! The food is very good. Fresh every day! Can be a bit spicy so be aware if you have little with you. It's a quick and easy stop for lunch or dinner. The pot comes with little red potatoes, halves of corn on the cob, shrimp (with the heads and tails on), crab legs, and sausage. There are other combos to choose from. Wifey and I ran cross this place while working our way up the Gulf Coast from Corpus to Lake Jackson. We pulled in as the parking lot, which was packed right are lunch time (can't go wrong if the parking lot's packed). We cruised on in, were sat immediately (not the case all the time, as there was a line when we left). We were greeted and served up drinks quickly. This is a sit a a table with wait service and have your boil dumped out on a paper table cloth where you get elbows deep in seafood goodness. We ordered the smallest boil, which was too much food for 2 people. Great taste to everything in our boil, the shrimp though, excellent! We got the Cajun boil and the Dungy boil with a half dozen oysters that are freshly shucked in the common area. We were enjoying an evening in Port A, but staying in Aransas Pass. We were ready for some seafood, but outside of making it yourself or eating it fried, the options narrow down to The Boiling Pot pretty quick. We called in our order before we got off the beach. They said it'd take 45-60 minutes which sounded fine since we had to get across from Port A and up to Rockport to pick up. We lucked out pulling right onto the ferry and were there in about 40 minutes. Our food was waiting for us. To feed three of us, we got the dungeness crab boil which was one pound of crab, half a pound of shrimp, half a pound of sausage, corn, and potatoes. I added an extra pound of crab and extra half pound of shrimp. We also got three cups of gumbo. I think the extra was a bit overkill on my part, but no crab was wasted during the feeding frenzy. It was all still hot when we got it back to the house. The crab and the shrimp hit the spot. I didn't even think about not having something to crack the crab with, but we were able to bust them open with our hands. The spice/flavoring was decent. Nothing overshadowed the crab or shrimp. The sausage was the disappointment. It was one degree away from being sliced hot dog. For what I paid, they could get a little better sausage. It'd be nice if they had some more veggies in the boil too, or some other veggies available at all. If that's all I have to complain about, they're doing just fine. read more

The kind of place where they encourage you to write on the walls and the interior looks like a dive bar. Perhaps that is all part of the allure. Service was good and our food came out quickly. My partner and I started with the gumbo - pretty tasty! We shared the snow crab and shrimp boil which came with corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage. We ordered it mild so the Cajun spice wasn't too overpowering. The shrimp and crab were very fresh and tasty. It was fun to crack everything open ourselves. There are no plates - they just pour everything out on the paper table cloth and they give you cute bibs - almost encouraging you to make a mess while you eat.
