Very solid BBQ. I had the triple with St. Louis ribs, brisket and pulled pork. There were only 2 ribs but they were really meaty and done very well. They were the best of the 3. The brisket was tasty as well, I got so much of the brisket and pork that I took some home and had a great sandwich the next day, too! The pulled pork was a touch rare, but not by much and it was very good as well. All in all, 3 winners, but the ribs were the best of the bunch. For sides I did the potato salad which was very good as well. The beans were a bit al dente, which is not my favorite preparation, but they were sweet and savory/smokey. I got a bottle of Port City Derecho beer, didn't see any taps for draft beer. Derecho was pretty good as well. I ate inside but the outside tables looked like a fun place to people watch. Manassas has a very cool downtown feel. Staff was friendly, fast and efficient. All in all, a very good meal. read more

We have been to The Bone multiple times and have never been disappointed. The food is OUTSTANDING!!! My husband and I stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening. We normally share a platter when we go there, because the size of their platters is HUGE. This time we decided on the 1/2 slab or ribs. We were served six meaty and good sized-ribs. They were very moist, juicy, and the smoke on them was incredible! We chose the macaroni & cheese and potato salad as side dishes. We did not go away hungry and very much enjoyed our dinner. I don't know where they get their music from, but it was the perfect accompaniment to a perfect dinner. And to top it all off, their rest rooms were immaculate! WAY TO GO "THE BONE".... Had a decent sized order in for Mother's Day lunch. There was an issue with the online ordering and there was a bit of a delay, but they were very apologetic (not their fault!) and offered me a beverage while I waited. Very helpful and friendly staff. We ordered the Boss Hog family pack, a dozen cornbread muffins and some pulled chicken. The family enjoyed every bit of the meal and I heard multiple times that the cornbread muffins were the best they'd had. So much food, leftovers after feeding six adults and five kids. We requested catering services with a short turn around (less than a week) for 100 people for firefighter funeral reception. With the stress we had that week - we needed this one big item off our plate and The Bone came thorough with flying colors! They were extremely responsive and delivered a few minutes early and setup the entire meal. The hot food stayed hot and the cold food stayed ice cold for the next 3 hours as needed (and it was a lot of food!). Many guests asked where the BBQ came from and we were happy to give The Bone some referrals. We had the pork and chicken BBQ, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, mac & cheese (a big hit!), and rolls and sauces. It also came with plates, napkins, utensils and the serving racks/and sterno. This is our favorite barbecue. My husband and I eat here 1-2 times a week. The food and service are great. We always get the barbecue sandwich and side but we've tried the combo platter too and they are both delicious. The portions are always a good size so you leave there nice and full. They have some new things on the menu that look really yummy that we want to try next time. If you eat there on Tuesday you can get the barbecue sandwich and side for $7.00, which is a great price. We can't say enough about how nice all the staff are, they are so friendly and always get our food to us quickly. Keep up the great work. read more

The Bone catered a very special family gathering we had at the Old Bust Head Brewery near their Gainesville location, and it was a major success, greatly thanks to The Bone's food quality, the catering associate (big shout out to Amy), and smooth delivery! The delivery staff was amazingly helpful, friendly and professional, and of course the food was a major, major, major hit! All of our guests were raving about the fantastic menu, variety and taste. Even our BBQ aficionados who are usually very critical were over the top impressed. From ribs to cornbread, and everything in between (we ordered the Triple Platter pack), all of it was absolutely stellar, moist and flavorful! I typically don't write an updated review so quickly after my first review unless I am completely blown away on a return visit. Well ... consider me blown by The Bone. During Old Town Manassas's Fall 2014 Restaurant Week, the wife and I decided to take advantage of The Bone's RW special for take-out. The special was a 4-meat sampler platter - no sides - for $14.99. We ordered two, plus sides of mac and cheese, cornbread, and potato salad. The bill came out to $50 - that sounds pricy, but I WAY over-ordered and we had enough food for dinner and lunch easily. The sampler platters were HUGE. I think the wife and I would have been OK just splitting one. They featured brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken. The brisket was as good as it always is, which is outstanding. My wife loved it. The pulled pork was better this time - much more juicy and flavorful than in the past. But it was the other two that blew me away. I'm not a huge fan of chicken, but a few BBQ places can really nail it. The Bone nails it. And the ribs - OMG don't get me started. The meat was beautifully pink and smoky, falling off the bone with so much flavor. These were perhaps the best ribs I have ever had. They also had new sauces to offer this time - collaborations made with Heritage Brewing Company. Their spicy South Carolina style golden BBQ sauce is a real winner. The $14.99 special reminds me of the special that Rocklands BBQ offers daily, and I'd get a bone if The Bone made this a daily offering. Even if not, I'm excited that we have a legit BBQ place in Old Town Manassas that is great for an eat in meal, and fairly convenient for take-out as well. Went in with my family last Saturday afternoon, and the service was crazy fast! Kudos to the staff. The prices were ridiculously high, but we ordered anyway. I would not recommend getting chicken here as it was dry and unappetizing. The Brisket was another let down. It was tougher than I'm used to, and we had to dunk it in the sauce to make it taste a tad better. The ribs and pulled pork were on point. Super tender and juicy! They really put virginia bbq to shame. I definitely recommend getting the pulled pork or ribs if you're a first timer. The potato salad was a delicious clean mixture. The mac and cheese looked amazing but was bland. Love the corn muffins I could eat them by the dozen! read more

Brisket and the collards were super delicious, but not a huge fan of the Mac n Cheese and cornbread. The cornbread was more like spice cake so it kind of caught me off guard. It would be great if made a carrot cake out of it because I thought "hey cream cheese icing would be amazing on this!". Any who I'd definitely go back to try everything else on the menu. Want to take my parents there to see if my stepdad would like the brisket because he's very particular about it so hopefully he too would enjoy it too. Hands down some of the best BBQ in NOVA. I got the two meat combo with pulled pork, brisket, beans and collards. My girlfriend got the pulled pork platter with mac and cheese. The pulled pork had a very flavorful smoke bark and was cooked perfectly with just a touch of vinegar based sauce to compliment the natural taste of the pork. The pork was good enough IMO that it didn't need any table sauce, but two varieties are offered if you want to add sauce. The brisket had a really nice bark complete with a beautiful 1/4" smoke ring and VERY tender, almost too soft but this isn't a BBQ competition, it's a restaurant. And now for the reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars: The sides. The beans were pretty good, but were missing something. Cornbread muffin was great. Mac and cheese was good but as another reviewer stated, tasted just like Velveeta. I was most disappointed with the collard greens. Collard greens are one of my favorite foods when cooked and seasoned properly, but these had WAY too much vinegar and red pepper flakes. So much in fact that it almost choked me to swallow it. My recommendation is to lighten up on the vinegar and red pepper and serve them as a condiment. If people like their greens drenched in vinegar and spiced with red pepper flakes then let them add their own. To the reviewer(s) that said this place has bad BBQ, what makes it bad? If you're going to criticize something at least explain why. Was is overcooked? Was is not smothered in sauce like most other restaurants in the area? If you're going to smother meat in sauce then you might as well just forget the smoker and cook the meat in a regular oven. The Bone does an awesome job at allowing the natural flavors of smoked meat shine through without covering it up. As for the prices, it is a little on the expensive side for the amount of food that you get. But as an amateur BBQ chef, I can attest to the fact that meat prices are at an all time high, especially pork. If the quality of the sides are improved then these prices wouldn't be so far out of line. Overall, I was satisfied with my dining experience. Very fast service! I plan to return to this restaurant in the near future and I will recommend it to others. read more

We talked about ribs, until the counter girl informed us that they were out of ribs. Okay. Then I pointed at a photo of delicious looking banana pudding pie, that the counter girl informed us they didn't have today. Okay. So, our family of 2 adults and 2 kids ordered the 3 meat platter that comes with 2 sides and a piece of cornbread, an extra cornbread basket and a stuffed sweet potato with pulled pork. The 3 Meats we chose were 1/4 chicken, pulled pork and brisket. We also had ranch beans and potato salad. The stuffed potato was delicious. I would probably go with chicken next time, and share it like we did tonight, but it was very good. The 1/4 chicken was so tender and downright delicious. The brisket was good, sliced evenly and tender, but cold. And the pulled pork was good, just okay and had a decent spice to it. The beans were very good, I enjoyed them. They had nice sized chunks of pork in them. And the potato salad was okay, I wouldn't order it again. My husband had a sweet tea, which was lacking in the sweetness. He swapped it out for a soda. The cornbread was good, the entire family enjoyed that stuff. Overall, it was good. We'd return and hopefully they have the entire menu available when we do. read more

Tonight, they sucked in service. Made me wait for 15 minutes for my To Go order that I called in plenty ahead of time. Turns out my To Go order was ready most of this time and just sat until lukewarm; while I sat waiting for it on a barstool. I finally asked again! They offered nothing no apology. I even had tipped them. Most of their To Go orders have a mistake so I always check the bags. Former waitress so I always leave a tip for To Go, no more at The Bone - I am not tipping for bad service. Suggestion to owners: you have kids running this restaurant. We went on a mid-Sunday afternoon and they were out of brisket, ribs, and chicken...only pulled pork left. My son got the pulled pork sandwich w/mac-n-cheese and I had the stuffed baked potato w/pork and Baked beans. Beans were undercooked and had a sweet but bland taste. Not what I'd expect from a BBQ spot. The pork was tender but not very flavorful. Mac-n-cheese was really good and the only thing keeping them from one star. The wife and I stopped in this weekend for lunch around noon. Service was fantastic, wait staff was very friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean (it was empty) and the restrooms were clean. The FOOD however was disappointing this visit. We have been there a couple of other times (I don't go too often b/c the prices are on the high side for me) and the food has been great. I ordered the brisket platter with their Ranch Beans and Cornbread. My wife got the potato stuffed with pulled pork and the chili. The brisket was dried out; I ended up having to floss later to get some bits of brisket from between my teeth (maybe leftover from yesterday?) and the Ranch Beans were dry and a little on the thick side (again, maybe leftover from the day before?) Their corn muffins should be bigger (or they should server 2 with a platter). This was disappointing to me considering the past times we have been in and the food has been really good. AND for what we paid (I don't mind a higher than average check when the food warrants it) but the quality was just sub-par for what we have grown to expect. My wife enjoyed her stuffed potato but her chili was REALLY watered down. It definitely did not have the consistency of typical chili; it was more like soup. So I hate to write a less-than-raving review but the quality this time was less-than-raving. The service was great and the restaurant was clean and presentable, but the food (which is what we came in for) left me disappointed. Got done early at work yesterday so decided to start the holiday season a little early with some BBQ for lunch and day drinkin. Went with a friend who was in similar circumstance. Awesome chopped brisket sandwich. Huge portions. Fatty. Tasty. Pickles with pickled onions and jalapeños on the side. Crazy good. Sandwich didn't even need extra sauce. Nice heaping portion of potato salad on the side to cool off the jalapeño. Almost forgot to mention that the staff just tapped a keg of Hardywood Christmas morning stout. Perfect beginning for the holidays. Service and food were outstanding. Have eaten here many times but yesterday was even above expectations. read more
