What I wasn't expecting was the fabulous greeting by the 30 something male cashier. "Vivian Gornick - she's so wonderful." We proceeded to discuss much of her work. Enjoyed the cool music they had playing as we perused new and used books which filled every inch of this small-ish shop. They had every subject imaginable and many of the titles are facing outwards to give you a bit of a recommendation as you journey through the store in hopes finding the perfect book, or two, or ten. We got something new (popular bestseller) and something used (of the underground variety). Regardless of your preferred genre you will find something here to scratch your bibliophile itch. They also have a parking lot which makes getting in and out of the store easy and hassle free. Cant wait to come back the next time we're in town!

I had originally planned to check out two cafes by Nye Beach with a return visit to Newport…read more(8/31/24). I made a right turn and found a parking spot right in front of Nye Beach Book House. Never been, I decided to check it out, especially as supporter of indie bookstores. The past four days I've stopped by bookstores in Bandon, Waldsport, Manzanita, and Lincoln City. It's always feels like a combo of adventure, treasure hunt, and spontaneity checking out the shelves. Made it up the stairs, opened the door gate, and greeted the presumed owner. She was very welcoming and offered assistance to any genre of interest in the bookstore. Always a good sign when others were also actively browsing. I always make a beeline to cookbooks. I found a particular title of interest, became giddy, and definitely will make the sale. To be fair, I did wander other sections too. Well arranged, well curated, and that bookstore scent. Looks like cash transactions are preferred over cards, just an fyi. Thankfully, my purchase was an even twenty bucks. Completed my purchase and wished the owner a good day. I wish I knew the journey of how this title and particular find found its way to Nye Beach Book House. I also wonder how folks with mobility limitations can visit this book store with stairs and its tight spots for maneuverbility. Me being a notorious klutz, I made sure to take care going up and down the stairs. A spontaneous visit and finding this title, I later discover it's worth over five to nearly seven times what was paid. This bookstore is quirky, unique, and definitely worth a visit for any bibliophile!

I really like that Robert's has this great personality, however, the people who work at this store are actually friendlier than the ones at Robert's. In fact, the guy who was helping us had this really great conversation with my wife about all the Stephen King novels. She really enjoys his writings and I never quite got into a lot of his works so I'm sure she enjoyed that conversation, and I enjoyed it so much that I think I might start reading some of his novels. I just thoroughly enjoyed talking to that guy, and got some great books in the process. I would say that if you like history or fiction, this is definitely the store for you. I encourage everyone to try this place out
