I didn't opt for that, but my companion told me their special orders usually come in pretty quickly. The prices are pretty standard for an independent bookstore, maybe a little higher than larger retailers, but that is to be expected. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!

I pored over the classic section nooks and left with Jane Eyre, Keats poetry, and vintage Shakespeare. I was blown away by the organization, by genre, sorted by author name. But when I visited the small town of Brownsville I was greatly surprised to find a wonderful bookstore called BOOKS AND MORE. And I'll tell you it is MORE. The generous proprietress and her daughter and crew have developed a well thought out, well stocked store. Not just books either- consigned clothing, handbags shoes, gifts, cards, maps,and local information. On the weekends she hosts art workshops, book club and writing groups. She is the hub around which Brownsville rotates and they are so lucky to have her. If you are in the area be sure to stop and buy a book or two and say hello. Ask about local history, you won't be disappointed.

I always like to walk in and browse and see if I'm drawn to anything new read~ Today, a delightful new book was right infront me and after skimming a few pages. I knew this is it. Service is absolutely amazing. I have this weird habit of having to make a book cover for my new books. Staff kindly offered me a few options for my book cover and I eventually decided to use brown paper. I got my new book and covered it with protective paper on the spot. They are very accommodating. Even the classics and poetry sections were practically entirely white, the only non white poetry book I found was by Rupi Kaur (bleh) and it was stuffed into the back of the last shelf. It's 2025 people, beyond time to diversify our bookshelves The reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the prices are good. Within the "world history" shelf, I saw a row of books specifically about Israel and Zionism, albeit not labeled as such. The only book with Palestine in the title was on display, but on the back cover it specified that it recounts the "experiences of Zionist women settling in Palestine", and not indigenous Palestinians. I scanned the shelf and didn't see a single book about Palestine, despite a fair number on Israel. Given how charged this topic is with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, I felt uncomfortable as it seemed that the bookstore had taken an intentional stance by not providing, at the very least, accounts of both sides of the matter.

Although this place has the books in alphabetical order of authors lastname, the dont have a system in place to search currently inhouse books, which kindof makes it fun. Books are usually priced fairly, but even if they arent, shop local.
