My favorite shoppe in bayridge!! Not only the cutest book store but also a place you can get a local gift for someone of any age. They also do book signings with authors frequently.

Daniel Paterna reading/sharing family stories from his book.

This was our first visit to the Bookmark Shoppe and we were very impressed:) We went specifically for Daniel Paterna's book signing of his Feast of the Seven Fishes: A Brooklyn Italian's Recipes Celebrating Food and Family. Thank you Daniel for sharing your family's loving stories and recipes -- we will share and treasure this book forever:) And a special "thank you" to the Bookmark Shoppe for a wonderful gem of a place -- on my list of favorite shops in Bay Ridge!!

What are your hours on Sundays? Yelp says you close at 3. But I've sworn I've come by on a Sunday and your open till 5pm is that true?

I was visiting Brooklyn and knew I wanted to come in for the Incardi mini print vending machine,…read morebut once I was there, I was just loving the vibes of the store. Everyone was so kind and there was a lot of things to browse! I am not even a physical book girlie but I really enjoyed the selection they had and if I lived in the area, I would be coming back often to continue to support. It was a short walk from the Brooklyn Bridge and allowed me to explore more of the area, which was a huge plus for me!

I visited this Brooklyn Heights location of Books Are Magic this past weekend with some friends…read more I'd been to the shop's first location (Carroll Gardens) before - it opened in 2017, but I hadn't realized that this location opened in 2022! But we were wandering around and just came upon it. The store is a good size; you can definitely lose time exploring and browsing. It doesn't feel as tight as many independent bookstores can either. Founded by author Emma Straub, both Books Are Magic locations have some really wonderful touches: lots of recommendations by booksellers on the shelves, a large section of translated fiction, and merch for bibliophiles. I had to be dragged out - but not before I picked up a book that I hadn't seen on/in any tables, endcaps, pyramids in any other bookstore in the last few months. If you love to read, Books Are Magic is well worth a stop to browse and get inspired by a new read!
