Such a cool place! It's got the feel of a speakeasy, it's very comfortable and a great place to meet people from all over. It's a great spot while you are in Savannah. We hopped on and off the trolley and found this gem! The bartender was super friendly and made amazing drinks!

Wonderful speakeasy along the River St. We got the smoked old fashioned which was so strong - worth every penny!! The bartenders and staff were chatty and friendly. I would have sat at the bar to see how the drinks are made but it was pretty full so we instead got a table - which in hindsight was better because I think the vintage lampshades make a pretty good backdrop for drinks.

What a really cool place to grab a drink and have a little snack or a meal! Right along the Riverfront in Savannah! Exceptional bartending skills behind the bar, and obviously very quality drinks and food. Would highly recommend! My experience was 11/10

The Bootlegger is a fun, prohibition themed bar located right on the River Walk in Savannah. It's pretty simple to find as there is a giant black boot posted over the front door. Upon walking inside, the bar is dimly lit with multiple TVs playing nostalgic movies and TV shows in black and white. All of the drinks on the menu are standard cocktails, but some of them have a fun twist such as the Old Fashioned being smoked using a fancy skull smoking cover. The taste of the old fashioned was fine, but I think we enjoyed the pain killer a little bit more as it was nice and refreshing. Great spot if you're looking for a delicious cocktail and fun atmosphere near the river!

We had a great time at The Bootlegger this weekend! It's located on the riverfront and claims to have the best smoked old fashioned in town so of course we had to check it out! It's a tiny spot with dim lighting and silly prohibition themed pics hanging on the walls. The atmosphere was relaxed but still kind of upscale, i loved the vibe. Staff were all very friendly as well. Their cocktail menu was definitely enticing, with a great variety of concoctions. We grabbed a couple smoked old fashioned and a their version of an espresso martini and hung out for a bit. The smoked old fashioned was quite lovely, as was the espresso martini. I don't know that the old fashioned was the best i've ever had but it was pretty darn good. We had just eaten but their food menu looked really good! I was tempted to order just because I wanted to try their food! Some of the menu items that piqued my interest were the crab rangoon deviled eggs and the fried green tomato sliders! Next time i'm in Savannah this will definitely be somewhere I put on my list to return to!

Such a cool vibe for a bar & lounge. With GREAT food! Definitely a place to go while in Savannah

The Bootlegger quickly became my favorite bar in Savannah--so much so that we went back multiple times during our visit. The atmosphere was great, but what really made it special were the bartenders. Bugsby and Big Mike were both incredibly friendly, fun, and made every visit feel like a great time. We didn't eat here, but the drinks were absolutely top tier. I had one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had, and my fiancé said their old fashioned was the best he's ever had. That says a lot. They even had a replacement for his nut allergy since their old fashioned is normally made with almond wood chips. If you're looking for amazing cocktails, great vibes, and bartenders who truly know their craft, The Bootlegger is a must-stop in Savannah.

This place is fun! A little dark but you can find your way to the bar. The bartenders were Very personable and fun. I got probably the coolest drink I've ever seen in a bar. (See photo). They also have food, maybe next time.

This place instantly becomes a Favorite just from the intimate and moody vibe that sets the tone for a romantic or chill night with friends. It's tucked away like a true speakeasy. They are known for their creative Old Fashioneds, and they definitely live up to the hype. They are well balanced and crafted with real skill and artistry. If you sit at the bar you get to experience the whole drink making process but to me it felt more like a little show. It makes the cocktail feel more like an event than just an order. I also ordered another cocktail on their Autumn menu It was a pumpkin spice espresso martini. It had all the components i love from a pumpkin spice latte but with a spike. If you love crafty cocktails with a fun atmosphere than go order a drink at the bootlegger.

Update 10/12/2025: Still not contacted by the establishment. I guess they get to keep my 34 dollars plus tax for the crab cakes and fried green tomatoes I didn't order, receive, or consume. Will never return. This isn't going to be my typical review. And once this is resolved, I will update the review and the rating. The vibes were great. Low lit like a real speakeasy. Bubs gave good service as a bartender. The drinks were fine, and once this is fixed, I'll elaborate. The charcuterie board might not be 22 dollars worth, but it was okay too. I have a problem with the fact I was charged for crab cakes and fried green tomatoes that I did not order, coming to a total of 34 dollars not including tax. I was tipsy, feeling good, so I didn't check the bill. In the back of my mind I thought it seemed pretty steep. I've called and left my information with the establishment, and am waiting for a call back. Again, once this is resolved, will update.

Very cool vibe, very cool bartender, very good drinks. Larger group, took drinks to go- beer, a couple of kids strawberry mocktails, a martini, and a smoked old fashioned. Great flavor, craft cocktails and time and effort put into making them all. Next time we'll enjoy our drinks there, along with the atmosphere.

Happy to see this establishment take over the old Bernie's. Nice remodel and definitely a cool vibe and Prohibition theme. Bar service was excellent, with lots of care given to preparing our cocktails. Smoked Old Fashioned was very tasty.

I've had the chance to visit The Lost Square both during the winter and this past week during the summer. They have a great view of the river and cozy lounge seating, as well as a full bar. The first time I visited was near Christmas and it was freezing outside, but they had a burning fireplace and the cutest little enclosed glass houses you could sit in to enjoy your drinks. During my recent visit, we had our 1 yr old son with us and decided to have dinner there and enjoy the weather. I had the Valencian Spritz (reposado, orange aperitif wine, fresh orange, white pepper, and cava) which was the perfect summer drink. My husband had the Soft Light mocktail (zero proof gin, papaya, kefir, and saline). For food, we started with the Labneh dip topped with olive oil, za'atar, and honey with fresh pitas on the side. Wow, this has got to be the best pita I've ever had. They were so fluffy, warm, and well seasoned. We even got a second order. The labneh dip was phenomenal -- highly recommend for an appetizer or just a snack. We also shared to the falafel bites and the Alida Burger which was very tasty! We'll definitely be back for another visit the next time we're in Savannah!

It's a fun hangout, playing rock music from the 00s, which gives it a nostalgic vibe. Buck from the bar was very hospitable and made me feel at home. I enjoyed an Almond Joy cocktail that was quite good, as well as a shot of Jameson, which I needed after the long, intensive day I had. They have a solid whiskey selection behind the bar if you were looking to do some pours or shots -- pours based on the bottle I saw. They also make some cool cocktails off the cuff. A touch methodical, but they were good, at least the ones my wife enjoyed. Like at every other bar in Savannah, per the ordinances, there is a door person who checks IDs, so make sure you have it. When I walked in, I was gazing around and then all of a sudden, a man appeared asking for ID. They usually have someone watching from the top of the stairs or from the level you enter, but they will check you so keep note if you're not used to bringing your ID with you (not sure why you wouldn't, but I digress).

What a beautiful picturesque place to have some bites and cocktails!…read more I was welcomed into this moody, velvety spot with a sweeping view of the river. Beautiful glass, marble, deep colors of navy, mauve, and gold. Service was wonderful, felt welcomed immediately. For my appetizer, I had the crab cake with homemade tartar sauce, which was a light, bright way to start the evening. For my entree, I had the filet mignon. The server will tell you, the menu says tapas, but the servings are larger than that. Meat portions are generous at 6 oz. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium and got closer to well done. At least the steak was still moist and not dried out, but I would be hesitant to do the steak again. The spinach risotto I had with it was creamy and cheesy, however, so that was nice. Other options for food include burrata, a charcuterie board, grilled shrimp, sea bass, salmon, scallops. The cocktails are the real star here. They fall under the categories "strong and adventurous," light fare," and "signature." Non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. I started with the medusa 1597, under "strong and adventurous." Made with Old Tom Gin, extra dry vermouth, truffle, grapefruit, and amaro, it was extremely strong. A bold, slow sipper I would have done better to have later in the evening, but I still appreciate the complexity of it. I also had the Bella primavera, a lighter cocktail under the signature section. Made with pisco, blanc vermouth, French herbal liqueur, watermelon, and basil leaf. A smoother, brighter, faster sip than the Medusa. And I also had the blood orange martini, made with French vodka, blood orange, lime, and cranberry. A little sweet, but not cloying, and again, would have been a better starter as opposed to a closer. I think when I return, I will ask the bartender to make me off the menu drinks. This place seems creative enough that the outcome would be fantastic. I loved this place. The vibe, the view, the service, the offerings. Can't wait to see what more they have in store.

Naturally, I pulled up Yelp and found this place, which had great reviews. We decided to venture away from the area we had been exploring and walked across the street, only to find ourselves staring at a Chinese restaurant with absolutely no indication of where the sushi restaurant was located. We walked all the way to the right thinking we must have missed it, but still nothing. Then, almost by accident, we looked down an alleyway and there it was--hidden in plain sight. By this point, I was extremely hungry and definitely not in the mood for a game of hide-and-seek. After climbing a flight of stairs, we entered a very dark and intimate space with a small bar area. We usually prefer sitting at the bar, but there weren't any available seats, so the hostess seated us at a tiny round table that felt more like something you'd find in a café. The atmosphere was definitely giving romantic date-night vibes. We ordered two specialty sushi rolls. One was a mango roll, and the other had me sold the moment I saw the word truffle as a special. The truffle roll was easily my favorite, although both were delicious. I also ordered a passion fruit cocktail, which I'd rate a solid 9 out of 10. I don't normally go for sweet drinks, but when on Rome, why not? This was not overly sweet but still one and done for me. Since we were only in town for one night and wanted to experience as many places as possible, we stuck with the two rolls and drinks before heading back out to continue exploring. Overall, this place is incredibly cute, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. My only complaint is how difficult it was to find. If you're starving like I was, wandering around searching for the entrance might test your patience. Once you finally find it, though, it's worth the effort.
