Nancy the Nightmare! I understand there is policy for 2 week cancellations. I called Nancy to see if she could work with us being that our pass was blocked at Vail for the weekend we booked. We booked with less than two weeks out so there is no option to cancel giving that timing. I admit that my BF and I made the mistake of booking something before realizing that our passes were blacked out at Vail. I'm just shocked at Nancy's inability to relate to another human, just want the money and blame us for wanting to work something out. I asked if Nancy she would consider canceling with refund OR moving our weekend to one that our pass would be clear to go to Vail and if neither of these would work we would just come up on the booked days but not have much of a purpose. Immediately, Nancy was pissed. She was so unwilling to work with us noting policy. You are a individually owned property not a corporation. Your policy but that is not law. You could have just worked with us and been kind about it. Lets be honest here, its a bed in a hole in the wall, Nancy, not a five star hotel. You business ethic is to take our $300 cancel the booking then book the bed to someone else and essentially make double on those beds. She finally agreed to cancel it without charge but not without making sure I knew to never book there again. Nancy's level of professionalism is to scream at guests on the phone and accuse them of making up reason why we can no longer go when in reality we were trying to find a solution that didn't involve us losing any money and still giving her business at a later date. I told her she was being incredibly rude which she of course pointed the rude blame at me for even suggesting something like moving our reservation. (How DARE I do a thing like that!) Nancy, you should really be ashamed at how you treat people once you know they wont be giving you their money without the exchange. Shame on you. (side note: I'm sitting in my cube at work for this call and my co-workers could hear everything. I did not expect the call to go this way or I would have stepped into a private room) After corresponding with Nancy, I would never go there. It was a last minute option for a quick weekend out of the city and the intention of going to ski Vail. I'll be sure to spread the word to others so you all can avoid this miserable human too. read more

Book this place now! You can thank me later. Upon getting to the bunkhouse I didn't have a reservation. (During the mud season they are not as busy). I got greated with smiles and Kodiak who is the bunkhouse mascot pup. I was given the option to pick my bunk and surprisingly it was very spacious. There was a small shelf inside where there were outlets for you to plug your phone and a small little light. The bed was as comfortable as a twin size mattress can be. If you are a picky person when it comes to pillows bring your own pillow, the ones they have as soft. The bathrooms were set up pretty cool. Obviously separated shower rooms but the only thing that everyone can see is you brushing your teeth or washing your hands. Wifi is EVERYWHERE!!!! It's super fast! Kitchen is pretty big in a sense that you won't really bump into other people while cooking. Over all I can't wait to go back and I will be bring my friends read more

I know it'll be just a matter of time before I'm having to book a bed here, months in advance (this review won't help my case ) but I have to give a proper positive review for people who can provide a great service and a comfy place to rest after a solid day on the slopes. The Bunkhouse is a true gem in the Valley! The staff is very friendly and they make you feel right at home the minute you walk in the door. The owner is absolutely amazing, and she works hard to make sure every customer is taken care of and happy with their stay. The bunks are clean and comfortable, offering you some privacy as well! There is a nice living room/kitchen space that guests can use to cook meals and hang out. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. There are places to store skis/snowboards and equipment. Overall, this place is very well kept, organized, and well decorated. This is my favorite place to stay when I visit Vail! read more

I wish I could say I received lovely customer service from Nancy, but my experience with her was quite ATROCIOUS. I contracted covid and ended up in the ER two days prior to going to the Bunkhouse. As a result, I was advised by my doctor not to go on my trip to Colorado as the altitude and cold would only worsen my recovery and that according to CDC guidelines I needed to self-isolate. My cousin called the Bunkhouse on my behalf to cancel our booking and Nancy explained that their covid policy would give us credits for the unused room. When my cousin explained that we had only put down the deposit and had NOT yet paid the $580 owed to the room Nancy said that she would charge our card on file regardless of the fact that we had NOT yet paid and would NOT be able to retain our reservation. My cousin became upset and argued that this was a bad business practice and would be treated as fraud if the card was charged before hanging up. Unaware of what had transpired I received a call from Nancy on my cellphone - which was the number on record - and was blindsided as she began to chastise me that 'adults don't handle things by hanging up on each other.' I asked her who this was and what had happened. After Nancy explained the call she had with my cousin, she proceeded to tell me we had two options 1) have my card charged and receive credit or 2) be blacklisted from her establishment and others in the area. I told her I will be completing my PhD abroad in Africa for the next three years and that realistically I wouldn't be able to redeem the credit until I returned in 2025 at the earliest due to my field research season which runs from October to March annually and asked if there were any other options. She said being blacklisted. I told her that wasn't really an option as no one chooses to be blacklisted and that this felt like a punishment in reaction to what my cousin did. She said it wasn't and that this was normal policy for travel companies including airlines, hotels, and car rental companies. I told her I had been on the phone with airlines and car rentals companies earlier that day and none had presented the option of either charging my card for an unused service to redeem credit or else blacklist me from their company and others. I further argued that I still perceived the blacklisting option as a punishment for my cousin's actions which I wasn't present for. She responded that as he was representing me on the phone, his behavior reflected my own. To make my point I asked if those were the options presented to my cousin before he hung up and she admitted that she had only offered him credit. Therefore, I reiterated that blacklisting only became an option after he threatened fraud and hang up which is why I am perceiving it as a reaction to and punishment for his behavior. She said it was a moot point that I wasn't welcome to her facility regardless and that I couldn't be trusted to fulfill a contract for having cancelled last minute. Therefore, I would be blacklisted. I told her I didn't cancel last minute by choice as I was in the ER unable to breath. Had that not happened I had every intention of completing the agreement and furthermore that I had not made the choice to be blacklisted. Nancy argued that as I had failed to make a choice, she would be blacklisting me. I tried to defend myself by saying, that exploring my options was not failing to make a choice. I tried to then explain why I was struggling to understand each of those options to which she spoke over me including when I asked her to please let me finish my sentence which she ignored. She ended her rant again saying that as I hadn't made a choice, she would be blacklisting me from the Bunkhouse and any affiliated locations. When I again argued that it was unfair of her to make that choice for me, she cut me off again stating my response was a moot point as I was no longer welcome to her facility or others, that she hoped I felt better and that that was the decision made. At this point I had begun recording the conversation because I could not believe that after being in the ER less than 24 hours ago, I was being told that I would still be the charged $580 I had yet pay on top of the deposit the Bunkhouse had already received for me or else if I disagreed to that charge my only other option was being blacklisted. This to me seemed unbelievably unfair and unheard of. Instead of trying to argue any further I clarified whether my card would be charged while being blacklisted. She said no. Not knowing what else to say, I simply apologized for such an extreme misunderstanding of a situation. Her response was that hopefully this situation taught me not to let my cousin speak on my behalf anymore. She then said her good-bye and hung up. read more

Had an amazing stay at Bunkhouse. Super clean, friendly staff, homely vibe and the pod concept is awesome for chill time and privacy. I'm 207cm tall so was worried about the size of the pods but the king size single was perfect and had plenty of room in my own space. Highly recommend get involved!!! read more

Our son traveled from Oregon to Denver and was to take a bus to Granby for a seasonal job. The Greyhound agent sold him the ticket, told him the dock and time to board. What he wasn't told was that several buses leave from the same dock for several locations, no mention to make sure he ASKED the destination of the bus he was boarding. Fast forward, the bus went to Vail and he was stranded overnight, found lodging at The Bunkhouse in Minturn. He was to return to Vail and catch a 6:15 am bus back to Denver, then take the bus that actually goes to Granby. However, no cab or Uber was available at 6:15 am in Minturn or Vail. Plus, he found out the 'daily' bus from Denver to Granby had been cancelled that day . . . again, stuck/stranded. THE GOOD NEWS: after brainstorming with the terrific people at The Bunkhouse, one of the employees; Jennika Olson, volunteered to drive him 2+ hours to Granby for a reasonable amount. My wife and I cannot thank her and them enough for stepping up to solve a verified conundrum. KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS !!!!!!! read more

I was recently traveling through Colorado when my truck broke down. The only place with availability was the bunkhouse, it was late at night yet the staff said they would wait for me to arrive after the front desk closed. From the moment I arrived I was greeted with open arms by the staff. The following day I met the owner Nancy and from then on my stressful experience turned into a relaxing get away. Everyone was very helpful, it was like I fell into a close community. Everything was spotless from the bunks to the bathrooms. The staff was more than helpful with any need that I had. I would not of wanted to break down anywhere else. Also upon talking to the staff they realized I was a veteran, and throughout my life I have never been treated with the respect that I received from the bunkhouse. I plan on returning in the future, and anyone reading this I would highly recommend you stay at the bunkhouse it was an amazing experience I will never forget. read more
