Service was great, which would be expected considering we walked in to a nearly empty restaurant. Menu is very appetizing, particularly reasonable prices! However food was subpar. The cauliflower wings were pretty good, probably our favorite dish out of the three. The truffle mac and cheese was okay, definitely a very strong essence of truffle and kind of liquidy rather than thick and creamy. As nacho connoisseurs, we were not fans of these ones at all. Beer cheese does not belong on nachos particularly with limited other toppings! Everything besides the bread part of the bread pudding was better - ice cream, whipped cream and strawberries. It was quite a bit dense and low on cinnamon flavor! Even a bit heavier caramel drizzle might've helped the case. I liked the Garden Party cocktail and we liked the mule, mojito was not our favorite. Seems like the tacos are popular and drinks were decent so would probably come back during happy hour for the cheap eats! But other than that would probably skip out during meals. read more

I stopped in for dinner with a group of 3 others. We came here for a date night and for the food quality... the bill shocked us. For 2 drinks (which came out after the cheese curds) and 2 Friday fish fries, we were put back about $120. Nothing was really great or amazing, the service was subpar as I think they were training our server still and the food was forgettable. We had a group of seven that ate at the Borough Beer Company last night. We made reservations since there were so many of us and it was a Saturday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior and ambiance reminded me greatly of the prior Rockhound Brewery that was in that location. If they did any renovations I didn't really notice them, but it is a clean space and decently appointed. The restrooms were clean[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. There was some delay before they greeted and sat us, but there were a number of patrons already there. It cleared out as we ate. Some of us ordered cocktails from the bar and there was again a bit of a delay before those were delivered. They were good cocktails, tasty, nothing surprising. We ordered some appetizers, but as we ordered them our waiter told us they were out of what we asked for, so we just ordered entrees. I had the borough burger. It was a double patty on a bun w/some thick cut bacon and thick cut pickles as well as cheese. The fries that came with it were crispy and golden brown. I was pleased with the burger and fries and would order it again. Others at our table ate the wings, the beet salad, the salmon BLT and a chicken sandwich. Negative comments were that the beet salad was a smaller portion than expected and that the wings were kind of dry. Positive comments were that the fries were crispy, the wings were crispy, and that the salmon was well cooked and a good size. The Borough Beer Company isn't going to become one of my default restaurants, but I would not hesitate to go back if any of our friends suggested we go there. read more

This restaurant just opened this month, so my friends and I came by to check it out! The interior has industrial chic vibes, the seating is comfortable, and there is a bar with some seating and three TVs. There is also a little outdoor patio. For drinks, we ordered each of the borough beers - these house beers were ok but nothing memorable. For food, we ordered the brussels + candied bacon, crispy fish taco, fish fry, and borough burger. The brussel sprouts were a bit too fried for my liking and left a lingering burnt taste. The tacos were delicious, and the chipotle crema really tied it all together. The tacos are served on flour tortillas by the way, not corn. The fish fry was tasty, especially the lemon caper aioli. Lastly, the borough burger was cooked to perfection, and it hit the spot. This seems like a great addition to the neighborhood! We look forward to trying out their brunch menu on the weekends. read more

Second time here and still not impressed. I stopped in right after the opened and thought to give them a second chance. I still believe the menu prices are elevated (why would they even put on a $29 braised short rib on the menu?) and my order of cheese curds reinforces the point. For $11, I received small bits and pieces. While the menu states hand breaded, if they are, they are just one step above a Sysco product. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I've been meaning to try Borough out since it opened but never got downtown. After reading some negative reviews, I had pretty low hopes but boy was I surprised! Immediately upon entering, we were greeting by the bartender. We grabbed a seat at the bar and were quickly given menus. I ordered a Spaten Oktoberfest, my husband ordered the pumpkin old fashioned and we shared some cheese curds to share. I knew the Oktoberfest would be good because I've had it Spaten many time but was SUPER impressed with the pumpkin old fashioned. They use Doundrins Distilling pumpkin bourbon and it's absolutely perfect. A pumpkin flavor without being overly sweet or overwhelming. The cheese curds were great as well, we got them for $5 for National Cheese Curd day! They plate or curds and the individual curds were pretty large. They were served with a chili ranch sauce which added a nice flavor. Creamy with a bit of spice but not over powering. The atmosphere is great as well! I loved Rockhound Brewing, which was here before The Borough. It has all the components I loved about Rockhound but elevated. There are Wisconsin flags hanging from the bar, large TVs to watch games, a great layout, and vibey music. We will definitely be back and I will be trying that pumpkin old fashioned!! read more

It had been a while since I had a fish fry. I decided to visit this restaurant since it was a beautiful night and within walking distance. They have their own beers on draft and a fish fry on them regular menu or if you are there on a Friday a special fish fry option. The special is a little more and gives you the option of cod or perch and one or two additional items. Personally, I chose to order the regular menu option. When the order came out it had a nice presentation and they had accidentally made me the special. I would still order the regular menu item because I don't think the additional items are with the extra money. I loved the batter on the cod! It was thick and not too greasy. The fries were much too salty for my taste. Hopefully a fluke! They only carry a couple of their own beers and they are ok. Not quite what I expected when I ordered the hazy. After looking for a restaurant in the area, we decided to give this place a try. Dinner was fine, but nothing overly special. My husband and I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, and my daughter got chicken strips. The sandwiches were ok - a nice contrast of sweet with the peach butter and salty with the bacon and cheese. The fries were fine but better once we added salt. My daughter loved her chicken strips. They were huge and somewhat bland, but that was right up her alley. I also tried the prickly pear margarita, which was way too sweet. The crowing gem was the brown butter cake with blueberries. I should have skipped everything else and just had dessert! It somehow tasted like yellow cake with brown butter blondie flavoring, so what's not to like? My wife and I have been here twice. The first time was just for a drink. I tried a flight of their beers and each one was enjoyable. The Roly Soli and the Crucial Z's were my favorite of the three. In addition to the beers they have a nice cocktail menu. The second time we went, we tried several of the food items. Our group ordered the wings, the poutine fries, the curds, and nachos. All of which were full of great flavor. For dinner I had the Nashville Hot chicken club. It was delicious, but not as spicy as I thought. We had a chance to speak with the owner Gaston, who was attentive and professional. After speaking to him we learned he's been in the food business for close to 15 years and to be a part of a business like this has been a dream of his. We wanted to try this new place just to give it a go. They replaced the old Rock Hound Brewing, which closed due to being fairly average. The Borough is about the same. The only have 3 house made brews so far- which is fine, they just opened! We all tried the Hazy, and it's pretty average. We tired the onion rings & pretzel... not bad but not excellent. I love the ambiance so we'll be back- hopefully they will have a few more beers by then! read more

We went here a lot when they first opened. Then it started to become very apparent that things are run very poorly. I'll be brief: They still don't have a phone number listed on Google, so you can't call food in. They're listed as closing at 10:00 but it's really whenever they feel like closing. Multiple times we've come in and been told the kitchen is closed, even at like 8:50. The kitchen closing time has changed multiple times since we've been going. Food takes forever, waitors aren't trained to do basic stuff like refill drinks. Again, I understand working out the kinks, but it's happened on so many occasions it's become apart of their identity. Good beer and cocktails, but I don't think we will be coming back again. It's consistently disappointing. With better management, this place would be perfect. But if it doesn't make some radical changes, it will unfortunately not make it past a year. read more
