This is a great little sandwich shop in many ways. I wish I could give it five stars, and I would, BUT they'll mess up your sandwich EVERY time if you order a sour dough roll. It's weird. Order a soft roll, you'll get a crunchy one; order a crunchy one and they make it with a soft roll. Last time it happened, I went back and complained. They showed me what they called a crunchy roll. It was obviously a soft roll. Next time I'll try to remember to ask for a soft roll to end up with the one I really want. It's Opposite Day every day here. read more

Their meats and veggies are all top notch, freshly sliced and the vegetables actually are fresh, just like how Subway falsely advertises themselves to be lol. A great place to come and pick up a sandwich in the Ukiah area. Two things that could help would be the portion sizes of their sandwiches and if their breads could actually be freshly made. Love these sandwiches! Lots of choices, fantastic variety of bread, always nice fresh veggies and of course super friendly service. Definitely the best sandwich bar in town! They also carry a pretty wide variety of different chips, snacks, a few sweets/dessert items and coolers full of "something for everyone" high quality beverages. My only lowkey complaint is that they do not carry pesto. I am unable to have mayonnaise for health reasons so my go to is pesto- as we all know dry sandwiches suck! Stopped here for some road-lunch on the way up the CA coast since it is right off the highway. I was looking for a hamburger, which they did not have, but this little Deli/ Beverage store/ Wine shop did have a good deli sandwich selection, which my co-pilot gives a 4.5 rating. He really liked the Cheddar-Onion roll his Sammich came on. I really liked the cute girls who worked behind the counter making the sammiches, and also the cute girl who came in and got a sammich who also knew the aforementioned cute girls. Also, they had my favorite potato chips: Kettle Chips Sea Salt & Vinegar. And a little place to sit and eat them that wasn't my car. Everyone who worked here was nice too. I have absolutely loved everything about the Bottle Shop ever since I moved here last year. I love a good sandwich, and I have not been able to find another sandwich that even comes close to what they make at the Bottle Shop. Ordering a sandwich exactly the way you want it could not be any easier. When you walk in you just grab a sheet of paper at the deli that lists all of the different types of bread, meats, and toppings that they offer. Simply check off the boxes for what you want on your sandwich, and it is ready within minutes. They have several types of delicious bread, my favorite being the soft sourdough. Then, I usually go with turkey and sometimes roast beef for my meat (both delicious). I then get almost all of the toppings, including the mendo mustard, which is a sweet mustard that tastes amazing. I have never had a bad sandwich at this place. While you wait for them to make it, you can walk around and take a look at their great selection of local beer and wine. Not only do they make great sandwiches, but they carry a lot of great beverages and local craft beer that you might not be able to find at other stores. I'm not sure if it was this one, or the other one on Bush St., but I'll go with this one unless I figure out otherwise... We wandered in here hungry, and were buoyed by the prominent signs saying it was voted Best Sandwich in Mendocino County by some local paper. I decided to go with the BLT, as I'm always on the hunt for a damn good BLT and it did not disappoint -- bacon was properly cooked and delightfully crispy, avocado ($0.75 extra) was perfectly ripe and tasty, veggies were fresh. We also got the red potato salad, and it was one of the best I've ever had, even with the larger bits of celery of which I'm not a fan. There are tables available if you wish to eat there, and there are also fountain drinks if you prefer that over cans and bottles like I do. You can also get deli meats by the pound, salads (like the aforementioned red potato), and all the stuff a liquor store would normally carry. -1 star for the simple reason that I got the impression the hard sourdough roll would be crusty on the outside but soft-ish on the inside -- since that wasn't the case, it was somewhat difficult to negotiate the sandwich and so I would have been better off with the soft sourdough roll. However, I'm sure the next time I'm here I'll get the soft roll and the sandwich will be fabulous. read more

Checked into my hotel and asked where I can get a good Italian Sub. Without hesitation, the desk clerk steered me towards "The Bottle Shop". I thanked her, went to my room and confirmed through Yelp that this was the place to go. Four short blocks and there it was. The subs come in three different sizes and are amazing and authentic (although adding capicola to the Italian sub would make it even more delicious.) Lots of Mortadella and other goodies piled high. So when you first walk in, go to the counter and grab an order form and begin creating your masterpiece. Like most sandwich places, they have a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, vegetables, and spreads to choose from. Unlike most places I have been, they have Mendocino mustard and sweet rolls. The quality of the ingredients really does make the sandwich and I feel I've always gotten great quality ingredients here because that's why the sandwiches taste so fresh and delicious! My favorite sandwich to make here is a smoked turkey and salami sandwich on a sweet roll with mayonnaise, Mendocino mustard, lettuce, red onions, pickles, tomatoes, smoked cheddar, provolone, and avocado.
