Drinks were fine but we could tell our bartender didn't know how to make the cocktail we ordered. We could see him asking for direction from a fellow bartender who seemed quite drunk while working. My friend and I visited this evening. The white waitress walked passed us three times and didn't look are way. A table behind us full of white people were seated and came in after us, and she went straight to their table without acknowledging us. Chase swiftly came in and took our order with no problem. This is a persistent problem here as this is not my first time here. The ambiance and the food are always good here but the service needs an upgrade definitely. Trivia was great with an awesome host, but unfortunately the service was extraordinarily slow and the brussels sprouts were pretty much raw. There was also a guy who definitely should've been cut off, but unfortunately he continued to accost the trivia host and several customers every time he stumbled up to the trivia table. The staff were asked multiple times to please do something as he was becoming belligerent but refused to acknowledge anyone, which seems to be the norm for them. I was also unable to find a single trash can other than the one in the bathroom. It's very possible I missed them, but I made several rounds both inside and out with no luck. read more

I'm mildly embarrassed I've never been to this location. I visit the one on Gaines Street occasionally, but never found it all that appealing. However, I'm pleasantly surprised to report that Brass Tap at Midtown has their shit together. Pardon my French. I was drawn in due to a glass giveaway, which had me weak in the knees. The girlfriend and I were a little hungry (what else is new?), so we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. It came out quickly and we very much enjoyed it. The glass giveaway came packaged in a limited edition Record Store Day logo, in partnership with Dogfish Head brew. The 90 Minute IPA was glorious and my girlfriend was a fan of the 60 Minute IPA. Glass giveaway began at 8 pm, but the manager who was nearby happily and willingly gave us our glassware a few minutes early. Sitting at the bar turned out to be a treat as we watched playoff hockey (Go Bolts!) and chatted with the manager. All in all, with over 50 beers on tap (guesstimate), decent bar food, friendly staff and a spacious patio, I will certainly return for many nights this summer. Oh, and the playlist was killer, too. i had a very bad experience at brass tap. I came up to enjoy a night with friends and was met with harassment not only by patrons by the employees as well. I was assaulted by a patron, who tried to trip me with his cane, to which a server who is off the clock decided to intervene. She then proceeded to kick me as I was trying to leave the establishment and upon re-entering to report said incident I was assaulted by another patron. When reporting this entire incident to the general manager, he was very dismissive and biased, and said because he didn't see the interaction himself it didn't happen. He refused to review the cameras. I don't think this review extends to all the service workers who are employed there, but they definitely have a few bad eggs. read more

Brass Tap was a great time. My friends and I went on a Tuesday evening when they host their trivia night. It was very fun, and very organized. The place wasn't very crowded when we got there, but not many places would be on a Tuesday evening. We got a seat quick and glanced at the menu. As far as food selection goes, there isn't a whole lot to it. They have some decent appetizers, and a few other things, but it's a bar so the business mainly comes from that. Personally I'm not a drinker, but I did try the Buffalo chicken dip appetizer and the panini. Both were awesome. In fact, everyone at the table loved the dip so much we got another one. Not too spicy, but it had a kick. The panini was also good. Our waitress was great because she had to deal with us for a bit over 2 hours since the trivia lasts awhile. Definitely was great there. Okay, so I give the ambiance and the drinks 4 stars, and the food MAYBE 1 star, so here we are at 3. The outside patio area is very cute and the perfect setting for happy hour. People brings their dogs and it's a great time. There are a few high tops inside, but the majority of the sitting space is outside. The drinks are also pretty good and the bartenders are friendly. They also generally have sports on and it's a pretty exciting place to be when there are Florida State games on. But I'm telling you- eat before you get there. The food is not good, that's just the bottom line. For example, I got a quesadilla once and it was that chicken you can buy pre-made in a bag from Publix, you know the strips. It was that, with lightly melted shredded cheese. Something that I could have somehow made in my dorm room I'm sure. The next time I tried nachos and my boyfriend got tacos and it was the same story- disappointment. Ended up coming to this Brass Tap location to watch the football games on a Sunday because I went to the one on Gaines first and found out they no longer had NFL Sunday Ticket. When I pulled up, I noticed a beautiful patio/deck area where one can sit outside, drink plenty of brews and enjoy the weather providing it permits. Noted. It's a pretty clean establishment. I noticed some folks complained about the service but I didn't experience this issue at all. I sat at the bar first and the bartender tended to me immediately. When one of my co-workers walked in unexpectedly to watch the Dolphins play and I moved to a table closer to his, the bartender said it was cool and my new waitress came through shortly after to check on me. Now some of the high top tables are really small. Most of us probably aren't drinking alone but unless you're having a sensual, romantic, candlelight "beer date" -__- , you and your buddies aren't going to be too find fond of the "high top tables for two." Aside from that, my exerience was enjoyable. Multiple TVs to watch multiple games at once. A plethora of beer options. And the food I tasted (Chicken nachos) was pretty good.
