In Seattle, The Breadline would not be a "4-star", but for Omak, I almost gave it a 5. This place has a very funky decor... amusing, and clearly done "on the cheap". It's always pretty busy, so the locals like it. The menu is very eclectic... something for everyone... American-Asian-Greek-Italian-Steak-Etc. Have eaten here a half a dozen times and never been disappointed by a dish. Service is also quite good... especially "Dee" who is very gracious, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. read more

I have travelled to New york, Paris, and London and Breadline is STILL by far my favorite place to eat in the world. I literally dream about this place.... I come to Omak for vacation every year from 300 miles away. Breadline has catered my birthday two years in a row now and it could not be more amazing. Paula, the owner, truly has a passion for food that I have never come across at any other restaurant. She never seems frazzled and is always so wonderful and accomodating. She probably puts more effort and love into my birthday than any of my family. Literally making me whatever I can dream up... When I go there I ask for something that isn't on the menu and she always makes it for me no matter how busy they are e.g. Last year I had my wisdom teeth removed and decided since I couldn't work for a couple of days we would head the 300 miles for a mini vacation. We arrived at 9:00pm on a friday night with a band playing and the place jam packed, I asked if I could have my usual not on the menu item since I couldn't have anything that was hard to chew and they made it for me! I will never forget that blissful happiness taking that first bite after an incredibly stressful day. I do order things on the menu every once in awhile and love everything they bring out. All of the menu items have something special that many other restaurants would not put the time and effort into making. Especially not for the price they charge. Usually, Breadline is a great place and they serve awesome food. However, When my husband and I decided to order food tonight, we got sub-par service. We made sure to place the order 30 minutes before they closed, which is plenty of time to prepare and finish food before closing (because I know how much it sucks to get a last minute order in.) I think our food was the staff's passive aggressive way of showing us we pissed them off. My burger was stale, my fries were soggy, cold, and dry inside. My husband's mac and cheese, which is usually creamy and delicious, was curd-y and tasteless. The soup (chipotle alfredo chicken) was covered in oil and tasted old. The cake we ordered for desert was the smallest slice of cake I have ever received from them, maybe half the size of their normal slices. Literally, not a single food item we ordered from them was up to standards. I was extremely disappointed, seeing as how I spent 30 bucks. Moral of the story, order WELL before closing time. A friend and I decided to go on an adventure and ended up at the border. When the agent asked where we were going and what we were doing we said lunch and shopping in Omak. He then proceeded to give us directions right to the Breadline Cafe. He raved about the Saturday brunch buffet, and he was right on the money. We arrived to find a country like cafe with a big bar and stage. The mix and match decor got me thinking that we were onto something good. Hit the buffet and wow. Ham, bacon, sausage links and a house made chicken sausage patty. Pancakes, French toast, yogurt, breads and an omelette bar! Everything was amazing. All the meats tasted like meat, not salt. The ham was a real ham, not pressed with a great glaze. Pancakes were light and fluffy. And they had whipped maple butter! The omelettes were massive. You had plenty of options for fillings and then you get to choose from 8 different cheeses as well. They don't skimp on the cheese either. There had to be a good cup and a half of cheese in there. Great service and atmosphere. This place was worth the 2 hour drive. I can't wait to go back. read more

What a nice and quirky spot in the middle of a whole lot of nothing! Omak and Okanogan are home to some of my relatives, and I'm so happy that this place is around for us to eat at. Its decent for the area, but i remember this place being great growing up. I ate there perhaps a month ago when i was in town again.. the food was bland and seemed like frozen/canned/not fresh at all. They have an amazing interior and the service is good, its just the kitchen that leaves something to be desired. Maybe i just got too used to the west sides cuisine as my local friends have pointed out. Overall the quality just seems to have dropped very noticeably in just a few years. read more

We stopped by this little gem a couple of times around brunch while traveling through and really enjoyed the quirky atmosphere and ambiance. Tonight we stopped by for dinner and the service was terrible. I totally understand that we make mistakes, but it was a constant throughout our dining experience. My husband has celiacs and so he is cautious of what he eats and we always inquire deeply about the food. We were told the appetizer was gluten free. When it was placed on the table, we were then told one of the sauces was not. We were waiting for small plates to divide the food to protect my husband but alas we never got any. We were famished and did our best with copious amounts of napkins to divide the food. We ate and he finally came to check on us but he only said he was sorry. We ordered the entrees which came with salads. We never got the salads and my husband's steak had a huge breaded onion ring on top. When he finally checked on us we explained the dilemma. He knocked a couple dollars off each meal but I would have appreciated a free meal offered to us. When my husband expressed his concerns to the management it was met with apathy. I don't think we will visit this establishment again. read more

We discovered the Breadline while on a road trip and was not only impressed by the food, love the lamb Ellensbur-er, but also enjoyed the many interesting photos and artifacts of Omak that adored the restaurant. We have since gone back to Omak with the sole purpose of sharing the restaurant with our friends. Great food, great venue and great people. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars. After traveling across much of Canada from the east, this restaurant in this little town felt like being awarded first prize. Most everything is made from scratch and they use as many local ingredients as possible including the flour in their bakery. The bread is not to be missed! I stopped here for dinner on my way from Seattle out highway 20, and I loved everything about this place! Atmosphere, food, and service was all on point. The prices were a little high, but I didn't mind and it seems many others don't either. The bread bar is a fantastic idea, I enjoyed several slices while waiting for my entree. I am very fortunate to have gotten daily meals here during high school, and now I only get to come back a few times a year at most. I have never been disappointed with the food or service, not once. The food is OK - the buffet of bread is really good - the service is ok. The reason I give this only 1 star is because they are illegally charging $1 to use a credit card (Visa or any other.) I had a 18.99 dinner and wanted to charge me $1 to use my Visa. Their "excuse" was to keep prices down. I would have gladly paid 19.99 for the dinner and would not have thought twice about it. They don't put any notice on their door or their menu - they just "surprise" you when you go to pay. I can understand it if someone only purchases something for $5 or less because of the service fee but to tack it on to a $20 dinner is unconscionable. I ended up paying cash but the person who suffered was the server because I took that $1 out of his tip. I contacted my Visa card provider about it and they said that it is illegal to charge a fee to the customer for using a credit card. I will not go back here again. read more

Horrible! I ordered the Okanogan Poor Boy, which is a chicken fried steak sandwich on a Jalapeño bun, it came out super dry, over cooked and obviously freezer burned. Are you kidding me I cant believe the cooks had the nerve to serve this . I wish I was the type of person who would make them take it back, unfortunately I didn't. Also I ordered iced tea and was never offered to have my glass refilled, final when I was able to catch the servers attention she brought out a luke warm pitcher of tea and filled my glass with no ice! I was in shock that a server would be that ignorant of a customers needs. This was our 3rd time there and we will never go back. read more

This IS the best restaurant in Okanogan County by far. Paula, the owner, picks only the best, fresh ingredients to use and makes several variety of fresh bread every day. I live on the other side of the state where there are an abundance of cafes and coffee houses but none of them can compare to this place. I am not a huge red meat eater but the steaks here are cooked and seasoned to perfection, the Paris pasta is deliciously unusual and my absolute favorite is the chocolate mousse cake, chocolate cannot be done any better! We just completed a 3 week road trip from BC to Colorado, played in Moab Ut for 10 days, biking and hiking, AMAZING ! We were on our way home and stopped in Omak for breakfast and we are SO GRATEFUL that we went around the block and ventured into the Breadline Cafe, hands down BEST FOOD, BEST SERVICE, BEST AMBIANCE, we were giggling with the culinary delight enjoying the breakfast brunch, everything was so special and bursting with taste. We had several meals out the past 21 days and not one came even half way close to the Breadline. Our only regret is that we missed out on the Friday night dinner special as we spent more for oh so much less in a big chain restaurant that teases us Canucks with its succulent lobster commercials, had to try it, very BAD idea, only ones suffered more than us in that experience was the poor lobsters. Will be telling all my shopping frenzied friends, and all that will listen to take the turn off main street for the absolutely best hands down scrumptious delicious fun personality plus place to have a meal the BREADLINE CAFE !
