I was craving my third cup of coffee on a lovely Winthrop Saturday, and my local friend recommended the Little Dipper. This sweet little spot is adorable, with retro decor, friendly service, and a nice selection of baked goods. I ordered a vanilla oat milk latte and was soon sipping its creamy delishness as I wandered around the town's first annual outdoor quilt show. Bonus points that they're open early on weekends. There's very little seating, though, so plan to grab your cup o' java to go. read more

This is a small walkup counter space. It's cute and has several breakfast options, but I only got the cookies here. They were big chocolate chip and nutella cookies of the home made variety. The service was friendly and had our cookies bagged up and had us back on the street in no time. read more

On an early morning drive from Mazama to Chelan, I spotted The Little Dipper Cafe and quickly pulled a U-turn and I'm so glad I did! I was short on time but in desperate need of a caffeine boost and a bite to eat and this charming little spot certainly exceeded my expectations! I cannot remember if I ordered a latte or a matcha latte but I do recall I ordered a quiche and everything was delightful. And I remember the quiche was warm, fresh, and filling! What I got at this small cafe in a remote mountain town rivals big city eats! And, better yet, the service was friendly and welcoming! The wait time was minimal which I definitely appreciated since I was on the road and had a time constraint. Prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the quality and the peaceful ambiance. I loved how the employees were still making pastries for the day in the huge oven of sorts behind the freshly baked pastries. I also loved the community posting on the bulletin board, such small town greatness. This unexpected stop turned out to be exactly what I needed. Even though I didn't have time to explore much of Winthrop, this brief stop in combination with the quick drive through definitely made me want to come back to walk around the town, check out all the adorable shops, soak in the Old West charm, and maybe even stay overnight. All in all, I highly recommend The Little Dipper Cafe if you're passing through or even better - make it a planned stop. It's great! read more

this was a cute little (emphasis on little) spot open early enough for us to grab a bite to eat before hitting the road for our hike, and it seemed that everyone else in the cafe had the same idea. they had ample yummy breakfast offerings, different from the usual breakfast sandwiches. they had various delicious sounding pastries and even burritos, which we opted for. i got the trailblazer burrito, which was really good. the uncooked black beans provided a nice texture and there was also the addition of some kind of seed- i think sunflower?- and this also added a nice soft crunch. overall, this burrito was a great breakfast option to fuel me for my hike ahead. read more

NEW OWNERSHIP as of May 24, I couldn't believe this place wasn't 5 stars but I see the low reviews are old. This place was incredible, especially if you're gluten free. It started with the incredible and warm baristas / bakers. We visited this Cafe 3x in 3x days. The Gluten free brownie drew us in, and the iced caramel macchiatos brought us back and back. The Gluten free peach cherry bourbon crisp was incredible. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, coffee. read more

This cafe recently changed ownership and has great options for people who are gluten free and those who aren't. Their fudge brownie is to die for as well as their monkey muffins. It's pushing the envelope to call this a cafe or a bakery... We stopped in to get a picnic lunch for the trailhead. There was a choice of three sandwiches (pre-made) and slim pickings on pastries. Two of the airpots of coffee were out. We got a ham, apple and cheese sandwich and a butternut squash and apple sandwich. The squash was diced, not sliced, resulting in the pieces all falling out when unwrapped. Also, the sandwiches were not cut, just two big unwieldy pieces of bread. There were no condiments available to take with us which was a shame because the sandwiches were really bland. On the positive, the young lady working was very pleasant. We will try somewhere else next time we are in town. read more

We visited Winthrop for the Rhythm and Blues festival. My wife's birthday occurred during that time. Sharon has been running the place for a couple of months. She prepared a really nice birthday cake for my wife and delivered it to us at the festival. She was friendly and accommodated several changes to our schedule. The cake was excellent and made my wife's birthday extra special. We also stopped in for a couple of breakfast burritos, which were also excellent. Cute tiny shoppe with a nice spread of pastries that make you think "wow, is this Winthrop?" But after I tipped with my purchase and the young lady they told me they don't have anything but sugar and half and half plus they took 10 minutes to find a lid for my cold brew and poured it into 3 different glasses to accomplish that, I realized once again how true the old addage is to not judge a book by its cover or its introduction. Ten out of ten would eat here again! Best baked goods around. This is a quaint little bakery and cafe with lots of charm. Many different sweets and savories to choose from and also high quality knick knacks and souvenirs. Local handmade pottery, mugs, stickers, etc. Ready to go sandwiches and hot soup. The place has got a great ambience. Near the park, and only has seating outside for now. My fave things so far are the chocolate walnut cookies and this thing that tastes like a fig Newton. So happy to have this new little lunch spot in Winthrop! My husband and I popped in after getting our booster shot and got the yummiest lunch to take home. The staff was so friendly and I was excited to see the variety of sandwiches they had available. I got a vegetarian butternut squash sandwich with caramelized onions and pesto, and my husband got a pasrami and caramelized onion sandwich. Both were SO good!! The decor is adorable also, filled with books and knick-knacks along with specialty items for sale from local creators. The berry scone was yummy and the woman helping me very nice. I was so glad they were open as there were not a lot of choices! There is no espresso, just drip coffee which is fine, but absolutely no decaf (not even available to make to order) which was disappointing and seems odd. I thought the breakfast sandwich had a lot be desired, just white bread Thomas English muffins from the store not even toasted. The sandwiches might be better, will try that next time. read more
