Arriving 10 minutes early for our reservation, I couldn't help wonder why we waited so long to be seated when the bar was clear and there were several empty tables. My friend noted that her oxtails were chopped into small pieces and the sauce wasn't seasoned enough. I had the seafood fried rice and it too needed something to give it more flavor. This dish is filled with assorted pieces of seafood and it's an ample portion. To further add, our waiter appeared tired and we had to ask other waiters for our needs. The trip to the restroom found that it was out of toilet paper. My previous weekend visit was a challenge to be seated, but the food was better along with the service. Popular brunch spot (make sure to reserve 2 weeks ahead), had been trying forever to get a reservation. Took my fiance here- had accidentally selected the wrong date so rather than wait over an hour we got lucky and snagged two seats at the bar. Cute interior design. While the DMV has wonderful and unique restaurants, it's been a minute where I've had THAT sort after eye rolling experience. Recently this was pleasantly the case at The Breakfast Club. While it's an upscale breakfast and brunch restaurant, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner there. We started out at the bar for happy hour enjoying the cocktails. Then the six of us were seated for dinner. The Breakfast Club is cute and comfortable (not very big) with a beautiful displayed picture of Billie Holiday. The night I dined there they were short staff and things took a bit longer. I could deduct a star for this, but the staff did there best to keep us happy and attended to. There's street metered parking and a parking in the back to include a county parking lot for cheaper parking. They have live music, which I hope to enjoy in the future. First off get Janice for your waitress, she's AMAZING!!! Good customer service, personality great, attention to detail on point. Now let's get to the rest, ambiance was nice, music selection great. It's not a super huge place however you don't feel like you're sitting on top of people. They do have a "90 min" seating limit so I would make sure your entire party is present and ready to be seated. Food was great, seasoned well, good portions and prices matched. I heard great reviews about this spot from TikTok and my friend went here and said the same thing so I had to try it for myself! We made a reservation on OpenTable and unfortunately we were extremely late (due to unforeseen circumstances) but they were so sweet and able to accommodate us at the bar. Overall it was an experience. The food was great I literally had no complains. I ordered the lamb chops ( medium well) with the Mac and cheese. The meat was so tender and juicy and the Mac was cheesy. Even the broccoli was good. Our server was did well. He was accommodating to any alterations or requests I needed. The third cocktail I sampled was the Cab Calloway. It was sweet and tasty. For the entrees, I ordered The Breakfast Club Sandwich and The Jumbo Stack. The cronut and bacon in the sandwich gave a sweet and salty balance that was surprisingly good. I didn't like the potatoes. They were dry and lacked flavor. This is the only reason I took off one star. The pancakes were thin, but still delicious. If you're looking for fluffy pancakes, these are not it. I got desserts to go. The Vanilla Rum Bread Pudding was smaller than expected. It tasted so good. Unfortunately, my gelato melted by the time I arrived home. The Stuffed Beignets were a 5/5, even though they were a bit soggy from the cream topping. I advise that you eat these two desserts at the restaurant for the best results. I made Valentine's Day reservations a few weeks in advance for The Breakfast Club for my wife and I as this new popular place books up fast. The restaurant is nice and has high ceilings but not a ton of space and for Valentine's Day they were not quite at full capacity as many of the four person tables including ours were taken by parties of two. Our server was very friendly and helped give us recommendations. The food was amazing. We started with the Classic Caesar Salad with Avocado and our main courses were the Chicken & Waffle, and Lamb Chops & Eggs. Our desserts were the Vanilla Bean Bread Pudding and Beignets. Our cocktails were just as equally great. We had the Fenton Street Evenings, Dreaming of Paradise, Rhythm and Blues, and Tales of the Caribbean. It is a bit pricy, but worth it. I did notice the Rhythm and Blues Drink came out a dollar higher than the menu which I mentioned to the waitress but didn't make her credit but more for future reference to have customers keep returning, which she apologized for and hopefully brought to the attention of management. I have heard great things about The Breakfast Club so I'm glad I finally got a chance to visit. The decor is nice but the restaurant is kinda small and the seating is very close together. Upon arrival, we were told there was a 45 minute wait for our party of five. It was a Saturday afternoon so that was expected. We waited outside for a bit and to our surprise, our table was ready much sooner. There were a few items on the menu that sounded amazing but I decided on the chicken and waffles. They were easily top three chicken and waffles I've ever had. The chicken was well seasoned and the waffle was good. Together they were amazing. I didn't get a cocktail this time but they have a lot of signature offerings. My friend ordered a drink with Remy and said it was nice and strong. Plus the presentation was great. Another part of my birthday celebrations was checking out this new Black-owned spot in Silver Spring. My parents and I all arrived about 5 minutes after the reservation time, and got seated right away. I loved the mural that you see. It really adds a nice feel to the place. As we walked towards our table, I noticed the cozy bar, several tables and just a little bit of bench space. I would say the place was about half full. We had a very sweet server who took great care of us. We started with waters, then I got the cajun lobster roll, swapping the fries for broccolini, my dad got chicken & french toast (usually it's waffles, but we unlocked a secret), and mom got the island branzino. The roll didn't look quite as I expected... it was two slices of bread super stuffed with lobster meat, not the open small lobster roll I'm used to getting. But was it delicious? Heck yeah! And the broccolini was a little buttery, but still delicious. I tasted mom's branzino... it was my first time having it. I loved the flavor! It wasn't obnoxiously fishy. There was something... mild about it, I can't explain it. But yum! She also had some veggie fried rice with it that hit the spot. Dad's french toast was super thick, and it tasted great combined with the chicken. I kinda envied the presentation of both of their dishes... my roll came on a big plate by itself and the broccolini was in a separate small dish... I added it to the plate with the roll because there was so much space. So, the food? Check. We got drinks too... Mom had wine, I forgot Dad's cocktail, but I got the Fenton Street Evenings, a tequila drink with blackberries a splash of pinot grigio. I loved it! It's the only one I got, but it was quite enjoyable. I was surprised with a birthday dessert while enjoying my drink... a bread pudding topped with a delicious vanilla scoop and candle. I thought it was ice cream, but turns out it was gelato... an amazing one at that! I'll put it like this -- Mom & Dad both tasted my dessert, and it was so good they ordered one to go. I've been waiting for some time to eat @ the breakfast club in silver spring. I decided that this is where my Galentine's event would be held. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. Prior to arriving, the event coordinator told me that each dining experience was 90 minutes long from the time most of the party was seated. I arrived to the restaurant right at 1pm which was the time of my reservation. The place was booked so I had to wait to get to the hostess to let her know I had arrived. Once I did, it took about 10 minutes to get seated which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be judging by the crowd. Once seated, a waiter/waitress didn't even approach my table until after 20 minutes. My last guest for the party had arrived 20 minutes late and we were just getting waters. Finally our order was taken 10 minutes after getting our waters. I wanted oxtails but there was a 40 minute wait and I was told they sold out twice already. That was disappointing. I got the lamb chops, eggs, and potatoes. One of my friends got the crab omelette and the other ordered the seafood and grits. The dishes were great. Whoever the chef is they are doing a great job. However, the poor service doesn't make me want to return to try anymore dishes. After we ate and the table was cleared, our waitress came over and looked at our table with a frown. She left and came back to ask us if we ever got our entrees? We looked at her slightly confused and said yes. We couldn't understand why she would wait at least an hour into an eating experience to ask her table if they had had their food? We only saw her once throughout the entire time outside of getting the check. Our waters were refilled once which was after our meal. While waiting for the check which took another 20 minutes or more, we played games and exchanged gifts. My suspicion is that the included 18% tip impacts the quality of service. No one should have to pay $32.00 for a steak for breakfast and experience that type of disappointment. The way that I determine a good dining experience is by taste and customer service. If you have to go here make sure you try them. Drinks wise we ordered the 1920s, Great Gatsby, and Early Morning Sunshine. There were nothing to brag about. Not bad but nothing amazing. Service After waiting 45 minutes to be waited on the hostess told us that we could order drinks on the house. Once we did get a server things were fine but it took us about 30 minutes before we were able to get a check . The manager then approaches and tells us that they could only give us one drink on the house - then he just walked away. So I met a young lady at an awesome speakeasy on a Friday night and she told me she would love to hang with me but she had to work, but had a resy at a new brunch spot that she couldn't attend. The most expensive grits brunch dish that I've ever had but it was delicious nonetheless. The Lamb Chops were on the salty side, overcooked twice so NOT medium temp that was requested. Amazing!! Before I talk about the food my favorite part was the chef bringing out your order. On top of that the chef was a female chef! I loved that!! Rarely the chefs get credit for their amazing dishes! The food, decor, and the service were amazing! I arrived around 8pm without a reservation and I was still seated. I loved the decor and the mock tail was made perfectly. I love salads, and the portion was perfect and very tasty. The shrimp was not over seasoned and cooked well. There is also plenty of parking in the area which is a plus for me. If you're looking for a restaurant out of DC I would highly recommend! read more

Came during soft open. There were a few kinks you could tell were still being worked out. Wings had great flavor (reminded me of KBBQ) , but were huge! The seafood and Grits were pretty tasty. Chicken and Waffles were ordered with all the entrees for the table but was the last to arrive. The chicken was absolutely undercooked and was sent back. Maybe we will return for happy hour, if there is one. read more

The food is really good. The seafood grits have a lot of seafood in them. I also had the French toast, which was great as well. I will definitely patronize again. I felt the waiter was not too friendly. Had I not said good morning, I don't think he would have said anything. read more

5 stars!!5 stars !!! When you walk in, it's like you're taken to a different era. The large mural on the wall, the chandeliers, it is just a classy place. Though a bit small, it is filled with delicious bites. You can tell that chef sassy loves food and knows flavor profiles. I had some of the tenderest oxtails and lamb chops. The mac & cheese was also very very delicious and cheesy, but had the seasoning that others tend to miss. The wings, I decided to get the sauce on the side however, when I go back, I will get the sauce on them delicious. The garlic pepper, shrimp, and white wine and butter, the shrimp were a good size and the sauce along with the vegetables within it Were perfect. The cocktails, strong impact a punch. But why go out and pay for a drink if that's not what you want! Kb the bartender is so personable and really knows his way around a specialty drink. & shout out to Isaiah. Unfortunately, this was ANOTHER terrible experience at a black owned establishment ‍ we had a reservation for 5pm for 12 people. We were sat quickly but then sat at the table for 25 minutes before being approached by anyone. The young man serving us told us he was "just informed that we were his table." We had two infants and asked multiple times for high chairs to accommodate them. That took forever as well. Strike one. At that time, we began to put in our food & drink orders. After about another 20 minutes, our server began to bring our drinks two at a time. Slowly. Several of us waited 10+ minutes for a beer & our cocktails. Strike 2. Cocktails were pretty good though. Now to the food. The food came out two/three plates at a time. Guests at our table began to eat and go on to finish their entrees before the other half of our group were brought their food. We weren't told until we began to make a fuss and ask for a manager (2nd time asking for him) that they were "out of grits" we were waiting on a Seafood Grits & one order of Oxtail & Grits.. Now the seafood grits were really good, no lie! But unfortunately the Oxtail And Grits was unseasoned and the oxtail was tough. We sent back a kids order of blueberry pancakes TWICE due to them being undercooked on the inside. STRIKE THREE! Now we're pissed that we even wasted our time & money here! We had to ask for syrup for chicken and waffles, pancakes...you know... THE STUFF MOST PEOPLE PUT ON THOSE TWO ITEMS! Our server barely EVER came to check on us knowing DAMN WELL we were NOT happy from the jump. Overall, this establishment needs to do better and will get a solid 2 out of 5 stars because this FIRST TIME experience was completely awful! The manager did try to "make it right" by offering us a round of shots but chile we didn't want them damn shots! He then offered us a discount, which was a nice gesture and much appreciated because NO ONE felt they deserved any of our coins! This place is OVERRATED & OVER PRICED & UNDER STAFFED! The staff is all children under 23 years of age doing a terrible job! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!! I'M TELLING YOU.. The food was soooo gooood! I got the chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was so flavorful and the caesar dressing tasted homemade. My friend got the oxtails and grits and she demolished it. The portion sizes were substantial. The service was OUTSTANDING! I thought I booked a reservation through OpenTable, but I only set up a notification. Lyric was so nice and professional and explained that we didn't have a reservation, however we were seated in a few minutes. She also checked on us before we left. Our server Natay was excellent. She checked on us continuously and was super pleasant. Our order was exactly the way we placed it. The ambiance was beautiful and inviting. The music was good but quiet enough so we could have a conversation. This place was a 10 out of 10 for me and my out-of-state friend. read more
