The first time we went there with friends, it was ok. Not great, but ok. No one was impressed. We were with different group of friends this morning and decided to give the breakfast cottage another chance. Mistake. Coffee and service was good, but my husband's poached eggs were cooked hard boiled instead of velvety and soft. Hash browns we're greasy and cold. My quiche was ok, had much much better in other places,but the additional charge fresh fruit had rotten grapes in the tiny little fruit cup. Overall, we have now wiped it off the choice list for breakfast out. Too bad. It is cute read more

I had high hopes going to to this newly-opened breakfast (and lunch) house. My hopes were dashed in terms of ambiance and the food. We went there on a Sunday morning and expected to wait, which we did for about 25 minutes. There is no place to sit while you wait, and you end up standing on a ramp that barely has enough room for other people to pass through. Suggestion - get some benches. My dining companions and I all ordered something different, so there was a variety of food. To be fair, my 5 other companions enjoyed their food, some a little more than others, but I was disappointed in mine. I noted that one of the selections on the menu was sausage gravy and biscuits, with potatoes. When I added up the items ala carte, they actually totaled about .50 less than the menu item. When the gravy came, it was in a small cup, and the biscuits were dry and small. The gravy was actually cold. I mentioned this to the server who promptly took it back to the kitchen and zapped it, because when it came back just 30 seconds later, the outside of the gravy was hot, but the middle was somewhat cool still. I mixed it up and the result was a slightly hot gravy. The gravy had small pieces of sausage, and far too little of them. The potatoes were good with peppers and onions in them, but they could have been so much better had they been hot. Plus, there were only about 10 pieces. When you can actually eye-estimate the number of potatoes, that usually means there are too few. My companions said they would come back, but if I return, it will not be for the sausage gravy and biscuits. read more

This place is adorable. Like mismatched chairs and quirky waitresses adorable. The menu was full of traditional breakfast items with a twist. I had the Veggie Eggs Bene. I consider myself an Eggs Bene connoisseur and these eggs were poached perfectly. The hollandaise was just right. What more can you ask for? I will be back! read more

And the frittata my hubbie ordered was the fluffiest with fresh veggies - asparagus and avocado etc. coffee is a local roast and delicious too. If we could do half stars I would've given this a 3 1/2. The atmosphere is definitely charming. Our server was OK. We were a little saddened when we overheard the breakfast specials being explain to the table next to us, they sounded delicious we wish we could've heard about them from our server. Bigger is not better! The portions are actually a little too large for my taste. I wasn't super impressed. Reminds me of the "free breakfast" you would get at a hotel. Food was mediocre. Service was okay. The waitress we had was nice. The table behind us had a misunderstanding about their "split plate charge". I didn't see it anywhere on the menu. But the guy threw a fit and the manager came over and basically said that's the way it is. I was surprised since I used to work in food service and the customer is obviously always right. Then right after the waitress went to her next table and got a mini massage from the customer and her colleague. Then when they got up, they went outside and the waitress was on a break and they both proceeded to massage her back and head at the same time. It wasn't the weirdest thing I've seen growing up in the Southwest, but kind of inappropriate in a place you eat at. My advice is spend the extra 15 minutes and drive to Another Broken Egg. Yes, the exterior and interior of the place are quite colorful, hostess and waitress friendly and welcoming, but my friend and I were definitely NOT impressed with the food, or the price thereof. He ordered corned beef hash with 3 eggs and I opted for the Original Plus, which consisted of 2 eggs, biscuit and potatoes. We both ordered our eggs OVER EASY and were disappointed that they were a bit overcooked. My friend asked me to taste the corned beef hash since he said it tasted "weird", and I had to agree, could not quite put my finger on why or wherefore, but it was definitely NOT good corned beef hash. I am writing this only because a group of friends tried to meet up here for brunch and I remembered my last experience. I ordered the BLT and chose the side of Cole slaw. The BLT was ok. Not as good as it has been in the past. The slaw however was spoiled and not just a little. They were obviously having some issues either with refrigeration or preparation and use of rotten food. Maybe to preserve costs or just an innocent mistake; any way you look at it, they slaw was spoiled the pineapple was spoiled and the entire mouthful burst in my mouth like a rotten bomb of goo. I have not eaten there since and have put my ladies club members on alert to my experience. This is a shame because they have turned out a good dining experience in the past. On a positive note if you are visiting here for the first time and it's winter, don't miss a chance to sit on the deck. read more

What a horrible experience. Waitress was lukewarm friendly at best. Management was rude. Did not address our concerns and was seen talking about us as she walked away. All 3 of us ran out of drinks and had to ask for more. Never asked how we liked our meal. I hope she got her 20% tip from the large party because she certainly forgot about us. Not my cup of tea for breakfast... too expensive. Save the Orchid, get rid of the cloth napkins, bring the cost of the coffee in line with the breakfast. It's quaint, however the seating arrangements are very cramped and do not reflect the high degree of ellagance being charged. This place is adorable and has some of the best breakfast food we have ever had! The breakfast potatoes and homemade corn beef hash were to die for! The pancakes are a must! A breakfast restaurant should know how to cook over medium eggs. My Montecristo was adequate, but nothing I would go back for. Service was virtually nonexistent. Great out of the way place with atmosphere. My wife and I took a chance on a rare brunch date on a recommendation. Man! Fast, exuberant service, decent prices (not cheap, but very good for what you get), and amazing food. We shared the sourdough cream cheese compote (berries, sourdough french toast and real maple syrup) and the Key West omelette (lobster and shrimp on an english muffin with easy over eggs and cheese). Fantastic food and waitstaff!! I brought my 94 year old grandma and mom here for the first time. When we walked in it was cold and the waiter, Justin brought my grandma hot water in a pot so she could wrap her hands around it to keep warm. (What service!) We then had our breakfast served by Tina who was also fantastic: eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce, breakfast sandwich and stuffed French toast with cream cheese/berry jelly...and REAL maple syrup all accessorized with a fresh orchids!
