Well if I could give this place more stars I would. I've been here in this area due to an loved one being in hospital for a month and we have eaten here so much I can tell you about everything on the menu. This lil cottage is warm inviting and the staff is the best not to mention the cook. Have not had a bad meal or even a so so one. Just bring your appetite you'll need it . They also have vegetarian items but will help with dietary needs. Always have smiles on . Just know everyone wants to eat here and on Saturday and Sunday mornings it is packed. But they have outside seating also. Can't go wrong here for breakfast and lunch. Just delightful!!! read more

A little pricey for breakfast, but the experience makes it all worth it. I don't think our waitress said her name, but she was super nice and committed to knowing all the specials for both breakfast and lunch. The outside is very colorful and homey, which adds to the atmosphere. As soon as my friend and I walked in, the place was already packed, for being a small joint with about 10 tables. TERRIBLE customer service! Paid nearly $60 for breakfast (!!!!) and was berated by the OWNER of the restaurant into leaving before we were completely finished with our drinks because there was a "line at the door!" Just returned from breakfast at The Breakfast Cottage. When I arrived, I was told a ten top had just been seated and it would be a few minutes before a table was free. I urged them to take their time as my party had not arrived yet. About twelve minutes later, they seated us. Our waitress was polite, friendly, and very attentive throughout our experience. However, as we finished, I heard someone tell our waitress that there was "a line out the door" and asked her if we were done yet. Our waitress brought us our check and cleared our food. Not even a minute later, the same woman who had mentioned the line approached our table and asked if we were done as there was a "line out the door." We said we were almost done (my card had not even been returned yet). We were finishing our drinks when the woman came back for a third time and again told us about the "line out the door." At this point, my friend mentioned that the woman was being a little rude. We had just barely had our food taken away and we were finishing up. The woman said that "little old ladies were waiting out in the cold" and we should be thinking about them as we finish up. My friend told her she was being rude and asked to speak to a manager. At that point, the woman revealed herself as the OWNER of the establishment and said that we were the rude ones making people wait. She then continued to berate us as we left. As we left, we noticed three women sitting in the chairs by the door - the same chairs we waited in as we waited for our table. Is THIS how they treated the people who were at our table before us? Overall, it was an atrocious experience. I took my friend out to (a $60) breakfast to celebrate her birthday and THIS was our experience? Terrible. Will never go here again. The owner needs to brush up on "hospitality" and customer service. NOT the way to treat paying customers!!! read more

Came on a weekend small place they let you come in from the rear so you need to walk thru the place to get to the front to be seated. The food was ok a bit pricey for what you get 2 eggs look like 4 egg the pancakes are small and the Syrup is watered down. Wouldn't go again as there are better places. read more

Cute little building in the Nokomis/Osprey area on highway 41. Once you walk in , you know you're in for a treat. Breakfast is an eclectic affair, served with a compliment of fresh fruit or breads. I had the whole grain waffle for breakfast and their lunch offering of homemade chicken salad is to die for. Service is very good and it's priced moderately. This is one of my "go to" spots for friends and family and out of town guests. You'll love it!! read more

We've been Florida residents for a whopping 4 months now. So we're newcomers, but we're absolutely NOT snowbirds. My wife had a minor surgery this morning (at the crack of dawn!) and she suggested we try the Breakfast Cottage on our way home. The greeting at the entrance should have prepared us for the experience, but it was still so early in the morning that I didn't quite catch it. Terry greeted us, sat us, walked us through the specials, and was off to get us coffee. We ordered, and after a short wait, we were treated to an absolutely wonderful breakfast. Mine was a "custom" omelette, with my choice of the four (included) items being bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese and mushrooms. Perfecly cooked, fluffy, flawless. The potatoes were equally awesome, and appeared to be started in the oven and finished on a flat top (best way to do these). My wife's pancakes were apparently phenomenal as well. The island cakes came with pineapple, coconut and macadamia nut fixins', and they were perfect. As was her bacon. I'm picky about my breakfasts. I'm a former lifelong resident of the west coast, and between San Francisco and Bend, Oregon, we had an abundance of quality breakfast haunts. The Breakfast Cottage is awesome. The prices are fair. The service is superb. The place is immaculate. The servers are top notch. And most importantly, the food is superb. Highly recommended, and I don't do that unless I mean it. read more

Having been to the Breakfast Cottage in the past, a few friends and I decided to go on 03/07/21. I called in advance for reservations for a party of 5. When we arrived the hostess had no record of us and stated, someone must not have written it down. We had requested outside dining. When we went to the outside area, there weren't any tables for 5, so a couple of patrons said, we'll move, or we'll be done in a moment. One party moved without us asking them to and when the party left that would accommodate our group, someone came out to clean the table. She informed us that we had messed them up and had people leave early or move, which wasn't the case. I stated that we had made reservations, and there wasn't a table to accommodate us. That will be the last time I go to The Breakfast Cottage because of the nasty attitude of the person that made the snide remark. read more

During our travels around the coast we stumbled upon this little gem shaded by a large live oak tree. Our pup was welcomed on the patio with a fresh bowl of water and we were greeted with a smile and friendly recommendations by our server Christy. We shared blueberry pancakes and a Tuscan omelette along with locally roasted coffee. The food was fresh and delicious. Service was memorable. Our first visit, and it's a delightful little place. Looks exactly like the pictures. Today [Sunday] around 11:30am. Might have been between the church crowds, but we were seated immediately. Nice ambience, tables largely consisting of us "seniors," mostly pretty quiet, great setting for a conversation. They serve breakfast and lunch, and we were looking for breakfast. Our server was very attentive, informative, and courteous. My wife had corned beef hash and a fruit cup. She rated it really good. My son had the crab benedict, also rated really good. I had the biscuits and gravy with runny egg on top and potatoes, also rated really good. Coffee was hot and good. This is a great experience from beginning to end. I had a coupon for a free breakfast so I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised. I had an eggs Benedict with sausage instead of ham and couldn't be happier with the meal. The English muffin was toasted well, the sausage was good with a little spice, and the poached eggs were perfect, whites poached solidly while the yolks were slightly runny. Potatoes were grilled and seasoned well. Just a great all around breakfast. Coffee was some of the best. Will return. read more
