I am a fan of Brew and Brew, through and through. This place confirms my love for coffee houses that also serve beer on tap (and this one has many local options to choose from). I don't drink coffee (or hot drinks in general) but I love the vibe of coffee houses with everyone working and the soothing background noise. My friends and I came here at 5 PM on a Sunday and most people were working away on their laptops but we all grabbed a beer or a glass of wine. I can't tell you what kind we got but it was local, cold, and hit the spot after an afternoon of hiking. The clientele were mostly 20s and 30s. We only stayed for an hour but the energy of the place just made us happy allowed us to avoid the ever-impending "Sunday Scaries." If I lived in Austin, I would be a regular here to either work or grab an affordable drink with friends. read more

Wright Bros has an extensive been menu and impressive coffee menu (their beans are from Flat Track Coffee, so you know they mean business). I've come here to hang out with friends and (attempted) to do homework. I would definitely vouch for it as a place that's suited for small or large group gatherings - for one on one studies, not so much. Every time I come in, I notice something new on their beer menu and the baristas/ bar tenders are always attentive enough to help when you need it, but not overbearing at all. It's a cool spot, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking to grab a drink, but want to go somewhere less rowdy than dirty sixth. 9/10 would recommend this place to others. read more

Great hangout at any time of the day--I always enjoy my time here. I've never met anyone that works there that wasn't friendly, and have always felt welcome. These guys are also great with hosting events, and I've have never had to wait excessively long for coffee or beer, even at an event. Events for the community include a small beer festival of special taps, collab sales with local businesses on any given day, sponsoring traveling events like Blogshop, and the frequent keep-the-pint nights or special tappings. As if the beer list wasn't enough to gawk at for you fellow data nerds, they've got Flat Track Coffee and espresso, tall tables as well as regular ones to share with friends, plenty of modern lighting, a bar counter for solo loitering, plenty of bathrooms in the attached building for their wide range of diuretics, a fantastic patio that catches the light pretty well (I mean, I guess it's ok) and they threw in a garage door for personality. Bicycle riders have two racks in front and a patio for "security." Definitely worth a visit if you're in town! read more

Just last night, as my car fishtailed its way home on iced out roads, I came to the near death epiphany that Brew and Brew is the premier hangout in Austin. And I also realized the amount of regret I would be filled with if I left this Earth without explaining to other Yelp users why I hold it in such high regard. 1) Superbly curated beer selection. Maybe someone would disagree with this, but it's good enough for my plebeian tastes. 2) Friendly staff. The employees always make an effort to immediately acknowledge me and take my order, even if I'm just sitting at the bar? I can order an espresso from someone who isn't oozing condescension and aloofness? The people behind the counter are smiling??!?!?!?!! 3) Unique vibe. Really the only place in Austin where I can order a limited seasonal on draft while comfortably doing work on my laptop. Also I feel that the location allows for an interesting intersection of crowds. All ages welcome, feel free to wear tattoos or business casual. 4) Prices. Exceptionally reasonable prices, and not just on the local staples. Also, their willingness to pour half pints makes the place shockingly affordable when I just want to stop in after work for an hour to unwind. 5) Taplist wall. Probably the most unique part of this place is their giant wall that lists their current taplist. Some brilliant visionary genius decided to sort the beers on two axes- as you go top to bottom, the beers get darker, and as you go left to the right, the beers get hoppier. It looks gorgeous, and it makes their beer so accessible to newbie beer drinkers. Brew & Brew is populist while still having a personality, inviting without being dumbed down. It basically packs the good parts from a variety of Austin places into one singular location. Please take the time to check it out. As I finish my review, I can feel a strange peace come over me. This coffee and beer bar has a comfortable, but minimalist vibe going on. Long bar towards the back, a few high top tables scattered inside, and outside a small deck. Order at the register, or sit at the bar, and somebody will come to greet you. A handful of coffee options, some small bites to eat, and about 40 beer taps. The coffee seemed well made and maintained, but I am far from an expert on that. The beer list is very good though. Anything from the locals like Live Oak and Austin Beer Works. To some harder to get stuff like Firestone Walker Double DBA (the amped up and 100% barrel aged version of regular DBA), and Founder's Devil Dancer. After a slow start, the bartender was very attentive. I order a cheese plate for a snack, and it was very good. An aged Irish White Cheddar with freshly baked bread. A great snack. They have some smaller sandwiches as well. A low key spot, that has good beer, good coffee, and good snacks. You don't need much more. read more

Really wish this place (1) was closer to my house and (2) had better parking options because of construction causing mayhem and only paid nearby. Came in for a quick lunch and really dug the environment. Free Wifi and beer list is spectacular with tons of heavy IBV variegates. Coffee looked good and fresh and menu was larger than just typical bagels as I had thought. T Hey have tacos and pizza bagels, some breakfast sandwiches at the very least as well. On the higher end of price at $12 for a smaller than average bagel, but tomatoes were fresh, and the lox was flavorful and full. Got takeout and just the takeout container itself was perfect for a lunch box and makes my experience even better. Open early as well as until midnight so easily a late cap type of spot. I work in this building so I have long been a patron of Progress Coffee. To be honest I was worried that this great little spot would lose its funky Austin appeal when I heard about the Brew and Brew concept. However, I am the first to admit when I am wrong (that's not true btw, I usually have to be badgered into submission) and my fears were unfounded. Brew and Brew is VERY well done and they have captured a cool Austin vibe while creating a kick-ass coffee shop, food counter and bar. The space has been given a needed face lift and the new bar with 35+ beer taps is inviting and almost overwhelming. It is a great place to caffeinate and do some work during the day or to grab a cold craft brew for happy hour. I recommend you check it out. read more

I stopped in here to have a quick beer before going to an event in the area. I love Austin for having these coffee/cocktail places! This place has a sleek and clean looking interior that is minimal but, nice! The line moved very quickly and they had Breckenridge IPA which is awesome! There beer selection was very impressive and even though i didn't have coffee it smelled amazing! There are plenty of tables but, they also have some chairs and a patio area outside which is where I enjoyed my beer! The prices were what you would expect, easy parking and they have an ATM outside if you are in the neighborhood and looking for one! I love this concept! Brew & Brew offers two of my most favorite beverages under one roof. I often enjoy coffee in the morning, and beer in the evening. During my visit I came in the middle of the day, so I clearly had to order one of each. Staying true to their name, Brew & Brew offers a Brew & Brew, an espresso drink and a beer paired together. The coffee I tried was good and had more of a fruity flavor profile. They paired it with a fruity beer, and I can say that I enjoyed this unexpected combination! I appreciated the way they have their beer menu laid out: Mini chalkboards are displayed in a grid-like fashion, and as you go from top to bottom the beers go from lighter to darker. As you go from left to right, the beers go from less hoppy to more hoppy. Each board displays the brewery, the beer, ABV, and serving size. One thing to note is that parking is available right across the street; if you are going to Brew & Brew, then parking is free. I initially paid the parking attendant the parking fee, but when I returned to my car he saw that I only went to Brew & Brew and refunded my money. If you're in the city, this is a cool spot to grab a beverage or your choice to either start your day or begin to relax. read more

I've found my new favorite coffee spot when I'm desperate to get out of the house. Located off 5th street they have tons of places to park. Inside you'll find lots of beers (39 on tap) and several different coffees to choose from. I love how open and beautiful this space is - their patio offers tons of seating and inside they have several tables where you can set up shop & work. Free wifi! I swung by Wright Bros Brew & Brew on a Saturday afternoon to check it out and was quite impressed. Wright Bros Brew & Brew had an ingenious idea to create a pub that served tasty coffee and delicious beer. I was half expecting a crumby beer selection, but I was quite wrong. They had probably 30 taps or so, including many hard to find beers. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but they had a "cold toddy" which I tried and it was quite pleasant. Not nearly as acidic as some coffees. You can order a coffee of some variety (cappuccino, espresso, etc) and a beer and they come out on a neat wooden serving plate. To top it off, the food was quite good. We tried the hummus and the pecans and both were delicious. Don't come here if you're expecting a loud, obnoxious, bar. This place is great to grab a "brew" and do a bit of studying (although WiFi was less than satisfactory) or converse in normal tones. You have a a bar to sit and socialize at, ample room and tables to get some studying done, a beautiful scenic backdrop, great coffee and great brews! I'm sitting here at Wright Bros Brew & Brew, enjoying a fantastic grilled cheese and a Green Flash West Coast IPA. On this rainy Austin afternoon, I can't imagine a place that I'd rather be to get out of the cold. This place is a dream for someone whose entire job exists on the internet. You see, I make a living as an online journalist. And while I have a home office and a comfortable couch at home, I don't have 39 taps of Craft beer. Brew & Brew does. Now, this isn't the first time I've been to Brew & Brew, nor will it be the last. It's a place that has impressed me many times and one that I have decided to make as a regular stop when leaving the East side. The positives are many. It's a great space right on E. 5th. The taps regularly change, depending on the season. The sandwiches are awesome (LOVE THE GRILLED CHEESE) as are the spiced pecans. As far as negatives, there really aren't a lot. Maybe the WIFI could be a bit faster. And maybe there could be more options for coffee. If you're looking for a spot to hangout for a few hours and maybe get a little drunk, this is the spot. read more

An Austin gem that may ruin your life in one of two possible ways: 1. Making use of their comfy public space to work during daylight hours and realizing you have easy access to some amazing craft brews (of the beer type) - daytime drinking while working starts; 2. Working late at night, again, in their comfy space, dragging from deadlines and in need of pick-me-up - you have a few of their awesome espresso creations and you can't sleep for days - zombie, no good to anyone. When self-control prevails, this is the ideal place to work and/or have a meeting around the 4pm hour. At 4pm, you can sip on a cortado without the consequences being too dire. After you've sipped, let's say for an hour, it's 5 o'clock somewhere. Not only somewhere, but right where you're sitting. Time to switch to one of their stellar craft brews (on tap) which are arranged on a menu that positions them dark v light; hoppy v non-hoppy. Good small bites, too! And grilled cheese! Rivals the quality of Houndstooth in an open and comfortable industrial space. Using local flat track coffee as well as San Francisco's star Sightglass- the only place in town doing so. They took some of Frank's best baristas. Sandwiches looked great though I didn't order, as did the selection of about 40 beers on tap. Anyone making any comment about their coffee other than offering praise has no palate or taste for coffee and the third wave movement. 5 stars!! read more

People who come here just exude happiness and if I'm ever having a shitty day I can come here and get a mood lift just from the people around me - The Product: Fantastic coffee products and an unrivaled beer selection among its East 6th neighbors - The Location: So convenient to so much. I went here today wanting a simple skinny decaf latte. They told me they couldn't make it decaf and they said they don't use skim milk because they want the coffee to taste the best. What kind of coffee place doesn't have skim milk? Since I was there I figured I'd just get the regular caffeinated fattening latte and it was $5 for the smallest coffee I've ever seen. I had a meeting over here today and stumbled upon this cute place. I walked in and sat at the bar and popped open in my laptop and did some work. The girl next to me said she was drinking a Cider, so I ordered the same thing and loved it about halfway through I was feeling a little bit buzzed and I was a little confused. It tasted very good and wasn't sweet like a typical cider so I asked the guy at the front how much alcohol was in it and he said 6.8%. Wow that explains it!! Loved it so much I bought a bottle of the Texas keeper cider, was $17 so hope this version is just as good! I I also snacked on one of their local Austin cookies which was a lemon ginger flavor and loved that. The doors were open behind me and there was a nice warm breeze coming through and everybody was working hard on their MacBooks. Also, I have never seen so many men with beards in one place. Like, I've never been this excited to write a review on yelp. This place is the real deal and other Austin coffee shops / beer bars have nothing on this place. In fact, this is by far the best coffee / bar I've ever been to in the state of Texas. Seriously, forget those haters who think this place caters to the yuppies moving into those fancy condos in the east side. Really, really great selection of both local, domestic, and international microbrews. Unlike some bars who boast the number of beers they have on tap by carrying a bunch of lame "filler" beers, this place has a total of 38 carefully "curated" taps with an emphasis on local beers. In addition to the excellent standards like Live Oak Hefeweizen, which is probably the best hefeweizen I've ever had, they have rare Texas brews like Jester King and Revolver. I tried Revolver's blood and honey, which has blood orange in the background, was refreshing and unique. The baristas are knowledgeable about the beers. This place has representatives from local breweries on Wednesdays to give samples and free stuff too. Coffee. In addition to the standard press with la marzocco, this place does aeropress, which is becoming the standard especially in Oslo, Noway, which is becoming the coffee hub of Europe. The bar also uses different single origin beans for different brews. At the time I went, they had De la paz and Sightglass single origins (basically really fancy hand-picked beans), which is something I've never seen in Texas. The prices here are great. Also, plenty of parking, which could be difficult in this part of town. The baristas are knowledgeable and quite friendly. They may not be as bubbly as the good folks at Juan Pelota's but I definitely felt a good vibe from these folks. The owners are usually present in the store and they were talking about installing new racks (?) in the kitchen i.e. making improvements. Also, the customers here are super chill. I talked to some regulars at the bar and had a great time. I love everything about this place. It's coming from a guy who's been to the world's most renowned spots like Fuglen, Stumptown, Intelligentsia, The Mill, Blue Bottle, and etc. If you are in the target demographic aka late 20's to 30's who read Monocle and Inventory and enjoy stuff like Engineered Garments, you will def. appreciate the awesomeness that is Wright Brothers B&B. read more

This place was cool, but felt like a run of the mill hipster coffee/beer joint - industrial, sparse, ubercool & knowledgeable baristas. Expect good beer and good coffee. The owners behind the concept know their stuff. One of the baristas explained where they get their beans from, how they're roasted, and what flavor profiles to expect. I appreciated her in-depth explanation. Apparently, this is also the only coffee shop in Texas that weighs out the coffee & water. Bae got an aeropress, which was pretty delicious. I had to settle for a cold brew cause there wasn't any tea. Le sigh. I know, I know: hardcore coffee drinking people don't use any milk in their coffee, but I'm not one of them. ;) I was a little miffed that there wasn't any darn half and half out. YES! My two favorite things!! A cute little place in that weird old/new mash of buildings (worth fighting the construction/parking situation, I assure you) on 5th near 35. It's bright (industrial perhaps as another reviewer said) but still has a cozy vibe - that is, it feels more coffee shop that it does bar. In addition to a short and simple list of coffee offerings, they have a pretty solid rotating selection of beer. 38 taps and you can grabbottels an growlers to go. I love how they are displayed: on the back wall in a matrix organized by type and weight. If you get a pint and an espresso, they actually have a special serving platter for just that. (And, if you want them combined, say cold brew coffee + beer, they will do that without batting an eye.) Food menu is small, but is by no means an afterthought, it's well thought out to pair well with whatever you are having. I recommend the spiced nuts. While you can certainly come in and out - could easily bring a date here, or make this a pre-game spot on your waa elsewhere - you also are welcome to post up, use the free wifi and work or study. The bathroom deserves a shout out because in addition to my ideal properties (clean, functional), it's huge and a fun space. Always feel like I see something new in there. read more

You will probably see me here. Amazing place to work during the day. The bar is perfect substitute for a standing desk, and the interior is nice and spacious. The coffee here has spoiled other cafe's for me. What won me over was how much care they put into even their regular drip coffee. The beer selection is well thought out, offering variety ranging from a full spectrum of non hoppy to hoppy, and light to dark beers. My tip is... you can get a half pint of beer for half the price of a normal pint, it allows you to try more beer, and lessens the chance you'll have lukewarm beer in your glass after sitting for a while. The food needs work. Right now they just have a variety of sandwiches, but I'm not sure if they hit that "sweet spot" that they're trying to hit. I stopped by recently to try a cup of their aeropress coffee after recently hearing about them and enjoyed it. The aeropress coffees are in the roughly $3-$5 range for a smallish cup, so it's not cheap. I asked for the darkest, richest roast they had, but was told all their coffee is light roast, which I found pretty strange for a coffee shop to not have something so seemingly common. Service was good, and there are a fair number of tables inside and a long very narrow bar seating area on the front patio which looks out over 5th street and the dusty parking lot. They have a very good craft beer selection with a lot of rotating beers and sometimes some rare releases as well. Overall its a nice spot but something about the feel of the place just didn't really win me over. As a bonus, at least there is free parking in the lot across from the shop. I came here with my coworker to get some work done on a Friday. This place was great, parking is a hassle but it's free during the day so whatever. It was large, clean, had plenty of outlets and power strips. They serve great coffee and great beer. The music was on point as well. I had a beer when I came in and chose a good seat. There are some friendly people that visit this place, I had some cool conversations with strangers, this place is awesome. They have three bathrooms, one in the building and two in the hallway that connects all the businesses. My bathroom had a shower in it which was interesting, not too clean, and not too nice. A basic bathroom - 7/10 would pee in again. Seriously though this place is cool, come check it out and experience Austin. read more

Had to make multiple visits just to soak it all in. The coffee and beer in one stop is brilliant and a new concept for me being from Chicago. A cool vibe overall and executed well. We tasted a variety: latte, iced coffee, and beers over the two visits. The coffee drinks were rich and the list of beers on the wall is extensive. I guzzled a pale ale and a Belgian pale before moving to the caffeine. No sticker shock as the prices seems standard by my account. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly with the willingness to shoot the breeze about beers. By far the best coffee bar is visited in Austin. The coffee + beer combo is a no brainier - cop a beer buzz and an iced coffee on the way out equals is a recipe for happiness. read more

Went to this place for the first time this past week and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I would venture to say the only downside is the parking situation but we found parking pretty close by without problem. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I am a beer drinker. They have loads of stuff on their wall that are limited release and stuff that can't be found in many other places around town. Their prices are exorbitant for pours but they're also not cheap. We sat outside and people watched as we enjoyed our beer. It wasn't very packed that night but it was during the first weekend of ACL as well.. not sure if that had anything to do with it. This place is hip and happenin' that's for sure. I was pretty thrilled to try this place after reading so many great reviews. Unfortunately I was left unimpressed. It doesn't look like it's changed much since progress coffee occupied the space, which surprised me since these guys were getting so much hype. What really underwhelmed me was the staff. The barista was unwelcoming and just looked annoyed at everything. It gave the shop an air of pretentiousness and just a really stand-offish vibe. It literally made me want to sit outside. So I ordered a iced coffee from the frigid barista and sat outside. This is not a place I would come to coffee shop camp at. The seating is uncomfortable. I was fine for a half hour and then my bum started going numb. Reminiscent of Medici by campus... The view from the porch is nice. Not particularly picturesque but just a real treat to look out upon. An interesting and living landscape. The coffee itself I really enjoyed and if I return it'll be to by a cup and leave. I'm not going to lie. There are somethings that Brew & Brew is doing right: the coffee is supreme, the beer/coffee combo is always a hit, the location is cool despite horrendous parking options (but hey that's Austin for you). But I have to say, if a friend invited me here I would probably suggest another shop. With a coffee scene as crowded as Austin's, you've got to really impress me if you want me to return. read more

When I saw the chalk board tiles boasting 38 different beers on tap, I was quite overwhelmed. I am far from a craft beer afficianado, so venturing out of my comfort zone in a town I've barely explored and attempted to gain passage in what appeared to be the Craft Beer Mecca east of I-35, was nothing short of nerve wracking. My uneasiness melted as I passed the queue for the cashier and saddled up at the bar. I peeked at their online menu prior to arrival, so as not to look like a complete novice and out-of-towner, but I still found making a decision quite difficult. When I asked for a pecan porter (unaware they had two on the menu), the bartender smiled and asked me how heavy did I want mine. I joked and said, "I like to eat my porter with a fork," making the gent next to me chuckle. I was offered the WBA Double Pecan Porter, and it nearly knocked my socks off (and me off the bar stool)! I was pleased by the bartender's prowess in selecting something unique, and I was happy to learn it wasn't their constant draft items. The diverse selection of locally crafted beers will have me tasking myself to pick up many trips to Austin in the future. Though I am certain there are plenty of other places to check out, I liked the patience and kindness of the staff. There is a stigma that craft beer establishments can be uppity and exclusive, but the staff at B&B made me feel exceptionally welcomed. My review is based solely on the coffee shop side of things, but I will try the beer soon. I really like what the owners did with the space. It's open, warm, and functional. Their oversized bar is great for spreading out while working. On cooler days, the open garage door is perfect, and the wrap-around porch us relaxing to sit on. Whether you prefer the bar, a low table, a high table, or a bench out front, this place has seating for you. I've been getting their pastries consistently because they have probably the best chocolate croissant around. Definitely recommend. I'm a huge cappuccino guy. I use that to gauge the quality of a coffee shop. I've ordered a cappuccino here about 10 times, but have received a flat white 9 times. (Insert coffee snob remarks here) The differences between a flat white and a cappuccino are somewhat subtle, but really make the difference when enjoying a cup. With a cap, the thick layer of rich textured milk on top lasts to the last drop of coffee. It makes each sip have a more dynamic flavor between the textured milk and the coffee beneath. With a flat white, you get a thin layer of textured milk that lasts a couple minutes, and then you're left with espresso with milk. Flat and unexciting. So here's my challenge, Brew & Brew: get that cap down right, and you'll step up into the category of one of my favorite coffee shops. read more

Fun little breakfast place in cool neighborhood. Loved the rosemary bagel with lox and other good stuff. Baristas made coffee to order and checked to see if it was how I liked it. read more
