I can't believe it almost took two hours for less than mediocre food.. seconds away from just walking out. And don't recommend this place

My family and I didn't get to stay in Farmville long because we only came by for my graduation. But I am so happy this is one of the stops we made. I could barely get a photo or video because everyone was digging into their food. The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Also, our server Caleb was phenomenal. He remembered everyone's order without pen and paper despite it being a very busy Friday night. If/when I come back to Virginia, I will definitely be paying this restaurant another visit. P.s. they made my dad a Long Island Iced Tea that he actually liked which is very rare, so extra points for that too! read more

Not normally vegetarian but tried the restaurant as one. The tofu appetizer is worth maybe 3-4 dollars but is priced at three times that. It's barely sufficient to call it more than a side. The veggie tacos are slathered in a sauce on top of ice-cold tortillas. Next time, I'm going to pass on all my choices. Conversely, beer selection is great and the wait staff are attentive and the food comes out quickly. If you want some standard American pub food, you'll be fine, but don't stray into dietary-restricted options. read more

Used to love this place. It's gone to total garbage. You basically have two choices: burger or chicken. Forget the fish, it's always been gross here. I eat here pretty frequently, and was torn on what star rating to leave because I'm obviously torn on my experiences here. I love the drinks and I love the food, but most of the issue comes with ordering items and they get brought out to me missing vital ingredients. Sometimes it's brought to my attention while the meal is mid-prep so I have some say over a substitution (which doesn't seem fair because I made my choice off of a specific flavor palate in mind) and other times it's brought to my attention when the food hits the table, or not at all. Tonight I went in for beers/ciders and got an appetizer to share, and the app was the Philly fries which were supposed to come with chipotle aioli. I got the fries with all of the ingredients, minus the aioli. Picture it: fries, melted mozzarella, grilled green pepper and onions, jalapeño slices, and that's about it? It was a dry pile of fries and toppings. Other times I came in for burgers (which BH claims to be known for) and burgers weren't even available. The menus got redone in the last few months and new items were added, which recently led me to order a burger that was supposed to be topped with pulled pork... to then be brought a burger with no pulled pork and just extra bacon (which just seemed like a normal amount of bacon). I -know- Brew House can do better. My rating might change or get updated later, depending on if anything improves. read more

I was starving and craving a good burger....waitress/bartender did say they they only had frozen single Pattie's and that they were out of the half pound patty's . Mr and my friend got burgers anyway and it was the worst mistake. The patties had NO flavor. Not smoke, no grill flavor, just tasted like boiled wet mushy patties. I should've gotten anything but the burger. Sad part is, when they aren't out of their normal patties, I bet it's pretty good. I wish the bartender had warned me NOT to get it. It was AWFUL. Skip it. They were not busy, yet the service was terrible, the food was not good and not right and the drinks were the same. Cups sat empty waiting for refills for far too long. I ate lunch here a little over a week ago and found one of the best burgers I've eaten in about 10 years. Let me start from the beginning. We had the Sycamore - Sun Grown Lager craft beer with fried oysters. These oysters were great and the craft was one the better craft beer I have tried. The oysters weren't over cooked and were amazing with the house sauce. The burger was called the "Lambda Mu" this monster was a combination of lamb and beef. There was lamb on top of the patty with a tomato and some fixings on top of the lamb with onion and cucumber under the patty. This was a flavormelody of awesome with each bite. Our son will be attending Longwood in the fall so we have been checking out the local restaurants. We will definitely be back to The Brew House. My husband got a burger and fries as well as the Blood Orange Cider. I had the Chili Lime Chicken and Shrimp. We both enjoyed our food. We arrived just before noon. The bathroom door locks were not working and the bathrooms were unappealing. Several of the staff were talking amongst themselves and ignoring the customers. One was leaving and hollering about her plans for the rest of the day. There was only one person remaining. She had three tables to attend. I don't know what she did. I barely saw her. We had to ask repeatedly for drinks etc and she walked away twice as we were trying to wave her over. I had to walk to the bar to get my beer. I ordered the salmon and a side. When it finally arrived it was cooked tough and dry; it was not burnt but was severely overcooked. And it was alone on the plate. No garnish, no broccoli as on the menu, just a chunk of cardboard-like fish on a plate. read more

This was a decent place to dine after a long day riding on the High Bridge Trail, service was good, burger was good, but they missed the opportunity to make it great. After the extreme hospitality of the Brew House team, I just needed to leave a positive review! I was in town visiting and had a large party to accommodate on a couple days notice. Many restaurants in Farmville will not take reservations at all, let alone large parties. I called on a whim and Caleb was super helpful and encouraging - he took my info and I felt confident that I had made the right choice. On the day of, our waitress Kate gave me a call to talk through potential seating options. The space ended up being perfect for our needs, and the service and food (I had the Tuscan Chicken Caesar Salad and ate every bite) were excellent. Kate and Caleb were super flexible and hospitable and worked with our needs. This was my first time at the Brew House, and it was such a great find. This group will be getting together 2-3x a year, and I think we've found our go-to spot! I can't think them enough for making this such a pleasant experience. read more

Visiting Farmville and stopped by on a Thursday afternoon for beers and appetizers before some work stuff. Bartender and staff were friendly and knowledgeable and recommended some great beers and the Korean BBQ wings, which were 2 for 1 for happy hour (score!) Wings were excellent, huge and crispy on the outside, bbq sauce was sweet and tangy with just the right amount of heat. We are visiting Farmville on our honeymoon. The Ahi Tuna at The Brew House was the highlight of the meal. Perfectly seared and came with delicious sauces. We ate at the Blackstone location and absolutely loved it. When we came into town to eat here the burgers & entertainment were great but they had removed the best item I loved off the menu. Now some time passed and I had hoped the menu had been updated. My favorite lady was there from the Blackstone location who helped me for my first visit. If there's anyway you could please return quinoa to the menu or at least toasted organic brown rice (to remove the sugar) and add sweet potato fries so individuals like myself can enjoy having more variety in your restaurant. Service was very slow. Over an hour before our food arrived after ordering. Wait staff were very inattentive and had to be asked for refills and condiments several times. One person in our group ordered a Philly and peppers and onions were hardly cooked. Another ordered a burger medium well and it was burned.
