Worst experience ever. We had them inspect our home 2 1/2 years ago and they missed stuff that is now costing us money. Our guy never went up to check the roof because it was raining and he never came back after the rain to check it. Now we come to find out that there have been previous leaks that were never fixed from before we bought the house. There is plastic up in the attic that was there when we bought the house and now was full of water. There should not be water in an attic nor should there be plastic unless there is an issue. We were told plastic in the attic should be a red flag to an inspector. Please be careful when using this company. read more

The experience we had with brickkicker with Chris roller was not very good they came and inspected our house that we are selling and everything worked fine when we left for work that morning and when we came home I did not have power in part of my house when we called to find out what was wrong we never got a return phone call then finally got a text message asking if we are looking for an inspection which was already done and when I explained we had no power in part of our house I never got a return message again and still two days later no return message we did figure out what was wrong with the power but my experience of having an issue and not getting a return phone call is not good I would not recommend them your house should be the same way it is once they leave from when they came terrible customer service read more

We recently had our home inspected by (initials on business card were JR). I would absolutely never consider using BrickKickers services for any of our future homes considering what I came back to. The inspection was slated for 9:00 AM - I work until 5:00 so when I finally got home I found that the oven was LEFT ON. No idea how someone who does this EVERYDAY would be careless enough to leave something like that on. We have 3 pets and putting them in that kind of danger is extremely unsettling. I also read through the inspection report on our home and found quite a few mistakes that would lead me to believe this inspector was not only careless but pretty lazy. I understand that things happen and people make mistakes, but we'd really like to SELL our home...not burn it down. read more

My inspector, Chris Roller, was out the other day to inspect my new 1890's home. He did an amazing job and I was really happy with their service. I also scored a $25 coupon for the inspection. He was kind, professional, personable, and had lots of great insight and experince in the home building world with over 25 years of experience. I also liked that he had familiarity with older/historical homes. He pointed out areas that I needed to fix, helped show me how to service/maintain my appliances, and offered tips to prevent future damage or repair to my home. Plus they save everything digitally too so you can access it for years to come and help set service reminders on your home. Overall it was a fabulous experience and I feel great about the purchase of my new home. They had walked our property prior to coming in the house. they chose not to wear our provided shoe covers and tracked mud in. DO NOT USE BRICK KICKER TO DO YOUR HOME INSPECTION. My fiancé and I had our home inspection on Monday. Kurt did a great job and was very thourough and honest about what he thought. We requested the radon test to be done as well. We were told it would be put in on Tuesday and take 48 hours to get results. When Friday afternoon rolled around and we still hadn't heard from Brick Kicker, my fiancé called to check on the status of our radon test. There was no status of the test because Brick Kicker did not put the test in!!! The lady that he spoke to was very apologetic and promised that the radon test would be put in on Saturday. She told him we would get our results first thing Monday morning (one week after our home inspection.) By Monday afternoon, we still hadn't heard from Brick Kicker. I called them AGAIN to check up on the status of our test. After some time, it was reported to me that the test wasn't put in on Saturday. I was given every excuse about why it wasn't done. The test was put in on Sunday and we wouldn't be able to get results until Tuesday morning. I was very upset as we had already asked for an extension to get our report to the seller. After getting off the phone with the lady that reads the radon tests, I called to speak to the manager of Brick Kicker. I was told he was out for the day but would be back Tuesday morning from 9-12. I expected a phone call from him, considering all the errors his company had made, but I still haven't heard from him. As first time home buyers, this company has put us through much unneeded stress, frustration, and disappointment. DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR HOME INSPECTION. read more

I'm not sure, based on the incredibly inconsistent reviews of the BK here what the issue is, but my experience was not the best. I purchased a home in Aurora using The Brickkicker, and while the initial inspector appeared to know what he was doing, he missed a number of problems, downplayed others that turned out to be major, and advised us that we would have to correct problems that turned out to be the responsibility of the municipality. The inspector informed us that a beam that had been installed to offset a structural issue was not a big deal, but told us we would have to repair the sidewalk, which we didn't. Additionally, the improperly installed and broken jacuzzi tub and improperly vented exhaust fans didn't merit any notice on the inspection report. Granted, we don't have a roof that's about to fall down or gas leaks and small children, but we trusted BK to provide us with a rigorous and accurate inspection, and they didn't. I'd exercise some caution and be sure that you're working with a qualified and knowledgeable inspector. read more

They completely missed a non functional furnace and felt that because I had it replaced prior to them "inspecting" it again they are not liable in any way despite the fact that I had 2 small children in a home with no heat with temps in the 40s at night. Their "legal counsel" advised them they are not liable in any way and they don't even have the decency to offer a refund on their poor service. After an offer was accepted on our first house, our realtor recommended Brick Kicker's inspection services for our first home inspection. Chris was sent out to do the inspection. He seemed to be doing a fine job- pretty attentive, knowledgeable, and just as eager to find out about the house as we were. The inspection went great, or so it seemed. Chris assured us there were no major problems, and that overall the house was in pretty good shape. How excited we were to close on it- until we got the report from the inspection. Chris forget to mention one MAJOR thing to us... There was vermiculite insulation in the attic. Vermiculite Insulation was used to insulate years ago, and usually contains Asbestos. It is to be considered hazardous, and would cost over $10,000 to be removed, plus any company we may need to use (Cable, Roofing, Vent & Air Duct cleaning, etc) would not be able to go near it. My boyfriend was kicking around the insulation during the inspection, and was never told it was vermiculite. We couldn't believe this was never mentioned to us... It's a big deal. All we had to do was go off of what Chris said and not read the report thoroughly, and we'd be the owners of a house that is potentially hazardous to our, and our kids, health. Our real estate agent gets a bonus from this company every time she refers them to a home owner, so we have no idea if this was intentionally never mentioned so the sale could be made. Either way, we are thankful the information was slipped into the report, but so disappointed it was never voiced. I hate to put a company down, but I would absolutely not recommend The BrickKicker for an inspection. read more

Will from Brickkickers came out early, before our appointment, and had already inspected the roof and other parts of the exterior. He showed us what he found when we got there. He then proceeded to very thoroughly inspect the inside of the house. That evening, he e-mailed to us a well organized report, including clear photos showing problem areas. The report itself was also very thorough was very helpful for negotiations. read more

Javier Canglano inspected my home. I was the seller. He said that the electrical breaker in my home was discontinued and a safety issue. He said it could be replaced for around $1200 or so. I got a high rated electrician in to check it and he said that just because a breaker is discontinued does not mean it is a safety issue and that it looks better than most he's seen. He did find a real issue that Javier missed - 40 amp for dryer instead of 30 amp. We had him fix that minor issue. He also asked if the inspector was from BrickKicker and I said yes. Apparently he runs into this all the time. He said if he had to replace it, it would be around $900 but that it was completely unnecessary. Javier found mold in the attic - a real issue, however he started talking with the broker and the buyer about what might need to be done to fix leaks in the roof, etc. Like adding ventilation, when all you have to do is look outside and see that there is ventilation in the attic. There were never any leaks in our roof and 50% of the houses in US have some sort of mold issue. He reported that the roof was nearing end of life. The roof is not new, but it is not at the point of needing to be replaced either. And if it was a new roof, the purchase price would be increased appropriately. The broker said his contractor could probably fix it for $3000-$5000. The mold was caused by the bathroom vent being vented into the attic instead of the roof - this met code on all houses built before year 2000 when the code changed. A very common problem that cost less than $1000 for us to have the mold removed. In addition it was reported that our furnace was nearing end of life. After the cotton quit flying, I had our furnace/A/C service checked and cleaned. The union professional said it was installed 7 years ago and that these particular units last about 13 years. So it is clearly not at end of life. The broker tries to start negotiating for repairs right after the home inspection is complete all ready with his contractor's number. This is very unprofessional. The lawyers are responsible for the home inspection issue negotiations and the brokers and home inspectors should not be discussing what repairs may or may not be needed to address the issues. They are obviously not qualified to do so as you can see from my examples above. So the buyer walked away from the sale without even trying to negotiate the home inspection issues. How does that kind of home inspection service the buyer or the seller? The buyer obviously liked our house since he made the offer 2 days after it went on the market. They missed out on an economical, well maintained house, in a great location, with great schools! We quickly got another offer. Before the next home inspector came, the mold had been removed and the bathroom fan had been vented to the roof, the furnace and AC had been serviced since the cotton had finished flying, and we had fixed the minor electrical issue that Javier did not even find. The next inspector was very professional. He did not discuss issues with the realtor or buyers during the inspection and there was no attempts at negotiations afterwards. This inspector did not mention the electrical breaker as an issue or the furnace and roof nearing end of life in his report. The buyers loved the house, we had some minor home inspection negotiations, and the deal went through as the first one should have. This all occurred in June, 2016. read more
