I love The Brig! The bartenders are super friendly, the drinks are super cheap. Grey Goose and cran for $4 say what?!? But... the cranberry juice always gives me a tummy ache so I've switched to vodka and Red Bull. That's one of the reasons I only gave 4 stars. The other is that the bar is cash only, although they do have an ATM right there. I still prefer to use my card when I'm drinking, though, as I tend to lose track of cash :) They have two EXCELLENT karaoke DJs, Doug on Wednesdays ands John on Saturdays and Sundays. John has a better song selection, but they are both super friendly and professional and keep a meticulous rotation. They also try their hardest to make sure everyone who wants to sing gets a chance. There's a pretty good mix of great singers and people who aren't so great, but are having fun. And no one makes fun of you if you aren't a great singer. The DJs do sing every now and then, but they do not hog the mic. And yes, there are regulars, but they do not get preferential treatment. They have to wait their turn just like everyone else. Overall I really like it here. Definitely one of my favorite bars in Fresno. I almost didn't want to review it because I don't want it to get overrun and have the atmosphere change! I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this establishment compelled me to speak up. From the moment I arrived, I felt unwelcome. While I may outwardly appear to be a typical patron, I am highly aware of my surroundings and what I witnessed was deeply disappointing. The senior bartender, Tanya, not only tolerated but openly allowed the use of the racial slur "spic" within the establishment. This kind of language not only alienates individuals of Hispanic descent, but also sends a clear message to all minorities that they are not truly welcome here. The environment caters primarily to a Caucasian clientele, many of whom seemed at ease expressing condescending attitudes toward those who look different. If you value inclusivity, respect, and basic human decency, I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

A friend of mine was kicked out because she was our designated driver for a party we were going to have there which meant she wouldn't be drinking alcohol. We ended up going elsewhere. I think that is a terrible way to run a bar and will make sure that all of my friends and family stay as far away from there as possible. This bar is nowhere near nice enough or even busy enough to think they can kick people out for stupid reasons. I think I'll be making a suggestion to the Fresno PD to target The Brig at closing time since this confirms that everyone who leaves this bar is DUI. read more

Awesome Place to hangout with friends . The bartenders and other staff were very nice and helpful . The Bar area was nice and clean. The juke box was great with two pool tables, two dart boards, several TV's, cold beers and great drinks at a reasonable price. Locals were friendly and cheerful. If you are looking for good place to chill and some reasonable priced drinks then this is it. Me and my all friends really loved this place as a first timer here. Poor customer service and racism is not an effective method to keep customers. The karaoke people on Saturday and Sundays are the worst people. They're judgmental and racist. They're the people you don't want at the bars you go to especially at a monitory driven bar. The brig is awesome. This is a old school type of place where its like cheers. People say this place is racist but Ive been coming here for years and being African american they love me.
