When I first went to this store 3 years ago to get my first prostetic and bras, it was an exceptionally good experience. The staff was caring, helpful and very effecient which is important when you have no idea what it's about. I was very pleased. In the past year, this store is under new management and the entire enviroment and staff has changed. There is no customer service. They never answer their phone and take days to return a call. I recently ordered bras and was told 3 weeks later when I checked back that they had never been ordered. When you go to the store they are very disorganized and not at all helpful or caring. Would suggest you go elsewhere as I will be doing. read more

I picked this store off my health insurance list and I couldn't have been happier with my pick. I live in Los Angeles but my Sister lives in Solana Beach and I wanted her with me. I came in to get my post surgical camisoles and to just see what post mastectomy bras look like. I do mammograms for a living and all the prosthetic bras I've seen look like fem-bots. Pointy and seamed. Yuk. I was surprised at the assortment available. Most importantly, the women that work there (for the life of me me, I cannot remember names) I think it was Sheri and Valerie, sorry if I'm wrong. They were so patient and understanding and they answered all my questions and gave me information I didn't know I needed! I can't wait to go back for my Fitting! read more

Lovely sales staff lovely owner and very helpful overall. The only thing I would say could you some improvement as they're ordering system takes far too long to get the bras in that you need. I would say a week at the most but it took me more than a month to get what I needed which frankly is far too long. If you happen to be lucky enough that they have it right there for you and then you're good, but otherwise the wait is ridiculous. read more

The Brighter Side failed to inform me that the vendor contract they had with my insurance company was only for $160. Instead of telling me of this fact, and instead, allowing me to CHOOSE to buy a wig for only $160, they showed me a wig for $250, also requiring me to sign a form which made me responsible for the balance if my insurance company didnt pay the entire amount. My insurance company had already told me they would cover me up to $500, so I wasnt concerned. The Brighter Side then submitted my claim to my insurance company without stating I had already paid them a deposit of $125 as a sign of good faith so they could order the wig for me. Ultimately, my insurance company paid The Brighter Side their $160 in accordance with their vendor contract,, and The Brighter Side paid me back only $35 which left me short $90. I asked The Brighter Side for my $90 back and they refused, stating I should take it up with my insurance company. I then filed a claim with my insurance company, but it was denied because I signed the form stating I was responsible for the balance. The Brighter Side's business practices are fraudulent. "Let the buyer beware" is total crap. This was complete omission of information and as long as they get the customer to sign that form to be responsible for the balance, they DONT CARE!!!!!! I can assure you, had I known from The Brighter Side in the first place, about the vendor contract of $160, I would have never purchased an upgraded wig for $250, and I wouldnt have made a deposit if I knew I wouldnt be reimbursed. I would love for The Brighter Side to reimburse me my $90. They should change their policy and explain to customers their agreements with the respective insurance companies prior to purchasing a wig, NOT AFTER!!! Having to deal with cancer and all that comes with it, is enough, and then to find out, that a business who is supposed to be caring, helpful and informative, takes advantage of the situation....its DISGUSTING!!!!! I will make sure no one I know or meet ever gives them their business!!! read more

The Brighter Side was wonderful to work with... I just started chemo a few weeks ago. I woke up this Wednesday with a lot of hair missing on my head. I called the store before they opened and asked if they could fit me in for an appointment that day. I needed a wig stat! They called me as soon as they got in. I spoke with Kathleen - she asked me if I could be there by 1:30PM. I told her I'd be there... Kathleen was professional and very sweet. I went to try on the wigs by myself since the appointment was last minute. I was texting photos of myself in wigs to my husband and parents. I decided on two wigs and left the store wearing one. After I got home, I had second thoughts about the second wig I had purchased. I called then store then following day and spoke with Kathleen, again - I told her that I was wishing I had bought a different wig I had been looking at on Wednesday and that it was the one my parents liked best based on my texts. She said that The Brighter Side wants me to be happy and asked me to come back on Friday and they would exchange the wig for me and charge me a nominal restocking fee ($25). I was thrilled. I didn't want to keep a wig that I wouldn't wear and I thought that they were so sweet and understanding. I did the exchange and now have two wigs that I will be wearing to get me through chemo! I won't go back. One employee was agitated because I was a walk-in and she was snappy and rude and pouty. No one wants to be treated poorly as a client and certainly not under the circumstances that bring us to a mastectomy shop. I will take my business elsewhere. Once fitted, one can easily use the internet for additional clothing. read more

I went to the Brighter Side because it was the only local place to purchase a wig and have it partially covered by insurance. I made an appointment. Two ladies were there and I still had to wait over 10 minutes to be seen by them. I found a wig, the first one I tried on and like it and was ready to leave after sitting 15 minutes with one of the ladies. They charged me $250 for a $115 dollar wig (which I found in four web sites) and they say they charge these fees because of all the paper work. My advise is try them on here, but purchase on your own. read more
