Outstanding. They went above and beyond. I should have asked All of their names. The urgent care didn't properly fill out a prescription for my wife, we couldn't say five words without having to catch her breath, to get a nebulizer. The staff spent time on the phone with urgent care. Then wrote their own prescription and faxed it over to them to get signed off. read more

5 stars for Romano who was super helpful, for the breadth of inventory that allowed us to find just the right product and for the pricing that was very reasonable. We read the reviews, but we found nothing we read was accurate. It was a Saturday, so maybe that was a factor. There were three helpful staff members and signs everywhere about all sales being final. My 95 year old mother was fixated on getting a cane, but uses a walker and should be avoiding canes at all costs. I mentioned this to Romano. We had no choice but to allow my mom to try out various canes, but Romano was pointing out to her that she was very unstable using them. Then my wife pointed out the folding walker. It folds to the size of a cane which would allow my mom to easily get about in cars, vans, etc. This is a great new product. After realizing that canes were not a good idea, my mom loved and loves the folding walker. Sold. At a very reasonable price. Now I feel much better that we didn't have to fight over the cane idea and that my mom will be safe with her folding walker. read more

I am just visiting San Diego for the weekend prior to boarding a cruise ship Monday morning. Discovered Friday night that the hotel housekeeping staff had accidentally thrown away part of my husbands medical supplies. I desperately emailed Professional Medical Supplies along with a half dozen others I found on Google. The next morning, Tom called me and very patiently walked me through the steps I needed to take to get an emergency resupply. It was above and beyond any customer service I've seen in recent years; he really saved us. He didn't have to do any of that but he truly wanted to help. We had never been in this position before! First time visiting this store in which I heard positive things. Boy I was so wrong!! I came in to replace a basic walker which I made it clear must work with my accessories ie tray table and basket. The salesperson assured me it would,and that was not the case. In addition the walker was a bit wider and the legs would not lock into place when folded in place which made it difficult getting it in and out of the car. So I felt the salesperson misled my wife and I about everything that was important to us. I called the store later on in the day to let them know that I wasn't happy with the purchase. I spoke with Maria and specifically told her not only was I not happy with the walker but I wanted to bring it back to get one that was more like the one I bought in. Initially she wanted me to come to the store right then and there but agreed to have me come in the next morning and never mentioned that it needed to be in unused condition despite myself letting her know I used it out of the store and at home! So again I was made to feel like everything was going to be made right. I was completely wrong!! After coming in the next morning I spoke to Maria she looks at the wheels and says no exchange because the wheels have signs of use. Of course it has signs of use I had to leave the store and the use at home as well as bringing it back as it is my only way to get around. So her response was to have me look on the back of the receipt where there is a small no refund or exchanges. Of course it is not on the front of the receipt where normally people look they hide it in the back all by itself. If that clause is so important for customers why do you hide it in back why not have it on the front? Mmmm I have a guess probably so when you leave the store you find it later when it's too late to bring it back. Keep in mind we're not talking about an expensive device we're talking $44.95 and they could not afford to do the right thing after all the deceptive practice to a disabled Veteran. Shame on you!! Not only did I not get my money back but I left a new walker with them in the store and left hurt and unhappy all over $45.00 pretty pathetic and whatever spin they most likely will try to make won't change what happened. read more

I read the other reviews and was leary but I spoke to a gentleman at the Dr office and he highly recommended this store. I was happily surprised....all the employees at one time or another came up to my father and I to ask if we needed any assistance. We were in there looking for a new walker with a seat, able to push around like a wheelchair and easily folded up to load in a vehicle. Gustavo explained in detail the options my father had to choose from. Gus showed us at least four and then the pros and cons of each. My father decided on a sporty red walker. Customer service was superb!! Very helpful from the second I walked in. Was greeted immediately, I was able to find knee wrap ice packs but wasn't sure which one would be a good fit for me. I asked a gentleman that was working there and he was very helpful on advice which he thought was a good option. I came here for distilled water and I had actually called in advance to see if they had it in stock. I spoke to a really nice woman who told me that there was plenty in the store. I was really surprised, mostly because I had been to so many stores the last few days and come up empty. People are stupidly hoarding water, distilled water is used for medical devices people. I have a relative with ALS who needs it badly and is unable to go out of the house because their health is compromised and people are buying it to drink when they can just as easily drink tap water, but of course they are dumb and selfish so I was forced to pay $7 a gallon at a medical supply store.. I was also able to get some other supplies here that I haven't seen in stores like Kleenex and hand sanitizer. I'm not sure about the other reviewers that noted the service was bad because I had excellent customer service, I was approached right away and asked if I needed assistance and shown to the area where they kept what I was looking for. Everyone I encountered was cheerful and friendly. There are signs posted on the shelves that note all sales are final, maybe that's to deter people who are purchasing things for online sales, as certain items are limited in quantity like hand sanitizer. read more

Professional Medical Supply (PMS) has come in handy for me, here n there. But, for a medical supply place, I would think there would be a bigger variety of items and more stock on the shelves. I honestly can't remember for what things specifically I have come here over the years only to find they didn't have what I needed. I know I've walked out disappointed several times. However, I can say that they have a great variety of recliner lift chairs. Brought my Folks here years ago and found exactly what they needed as they need assistance in getting up from a recliner in their ripe old ages of 99 and almost 90yo! The recliners have been a good investment as they are holding up and serving them both well. I came by recently and saw there's even more of a selection now. And I think the prices are competitive for the lift recliners. I believe my Folks' were $7-800? Prices vary as there are also leather selections and bigger ones than theirs. I also came a month or so ago with the hub to fill some oxygen tanks for his mother who has COPD. The prices were comparable with the O2 service they use. And PMS was able to get them filled overnite for us. So it was really good to know this service is available as needed in our local area. We were also able to find some handicap bars years ago, to put up in my Folks' hallway and bathroom to grab onto as needed. Overall, I think this place could use some renovation. It's been there for many years and is pretty old school in appearance and in what stock they have to offer. And maybe PMS might wanna change their name? read more

I needed an ergonomic seat cushion for my dining room chair since I'm working from home because of Covid. They had over 6 different cushions (some in different colors). I didn't want to buy something on Amazon, I was afraid it wouldn't be comfy enough. Appreciated having this store nearby, I got to test out several cushions. Paid a little over $40. The staff helped me right away when I walked in. A staff member helped me with the various brands to choose from. So, overall a good experience for a specialty product. After reading some of the negative reviews I was hesitant at first to come here. However, since the place was close in proximity to where I live and well stocked( according to my fellow yelpers)I took my chance. Surprise! surprise! The customer service was stellar, and my mother and I left with a few month supply of ileostomy bags,wafers, and other cleaning products. I've been to other medical supply companies- local and non local- and their return and refund policies are pretty much the same: No returns! At first I didn't see the logic behind this policy of "no returns" but now I realize that these products are health related products that are purchased by and for the patients. I certainly wouldn't want to purchase a repackaged ileostomy bags or touch the ones that are brought back. They are bio hazardous!!! Anyway, my experience was great as the person who was helping me was courteous, informative, their prices reasonable. I will be purchasing from them from now on! Highly recommend!!! My wife and I went to look for a mobility scooter and we went to the Professional Medical Supply store in El Cajon. We were both greeted from everyone at the store. We really want to thank Gus for being so personable, very friendly and very informative. He gave us an overview of all the mobility scooters we were interested in. He also answered all the questions we had concerns about; I.e., weight capacity, travel distance, driving on hills like at the San Diego Zoo. Gus let us test drive the different scooters we had an interest in both inside the store for maneuverability and handling. He was totally transparent and let us know that if we purchase one there was no return-it was a final buy, which was good to know. Gus explained the warranty and repair. He even asked us to think about the scooter and that we can come back to purchase it whenever we were ready. Since we were already looking to purchase one, we finally got one. Clare handled our paperwork and she was very friendly and personable. As I went to break the scooter to put in the truck of our Honda Accord, Gus came out to see if I needed any help, which I was very appreciative. HORRIBLE!! I called and asked for Lysol Spray. The guy told me, you should come now we have 3 boxes left. I raced down there and got there within 15 min. I asked the guy when I went there where the spray is, he said he didn't have any and that they were going to have some Friday. WTF!!! Thanks for wasting my damn time. I was in need of a Hernia Support; unfortunately, Professional Medical Supply and their staff do not know the product. I was offered 3 options: a brief style hernia which was the most expensive, two belt styles (one of which was marked down for clearance), and the Actimove Hernia Support, which is really only adjustable around the waist. Looking at the pictures on the box it seems simple enough, but it clearly shows the belt fitting above the hips. I was told it was adjustable, but the HEIGHT adjustment only happens in the back, not the front where needed. The front of the belt with the pressure pads is only 4 inches high. If you wear a regular pants belt and it sits higher in front by more than 4 inches, this product will not work. Understandably you cannot return this product, so I am out $40. If this review helps someone else find a better fitting product, then I was successful. read more

I had to purchase 2 wheelchair pads. It turns out they were too thick and couldn't be used. They were still sealed in the original plastic with all of the inner paperwork and never used. I called less than 24 hours later to ask to return them and they refused a return. I asked for an exchange but they didn't even have thinner pads to replace them with. So I'm stuck with something I can never use. What a ripoff. Owner couldn't even be bothered to get on the phone to discuss it and instead let some clerk handle it. Thanks PMS... read more

Unfortunately I like to shop at brick-and-mortar places to try to keep them in business however with my experience at Professional Medical Supplies, it makes me wonder if it's worth it. I bought a shoulder ice pack product from them that was brand new and it was not what I was looking for. I went to return it to find out that they do not return any items that touches skin. I then informed them that I never even opened the box, which also means it was still in the plastic it was in the box that was unopened. They informed me that they still would not do to return. Not only was their customer service and explaining this horrible but their prices were ridiculous in the first place. This makes places like this make me regret shopping at small businesses like this. The prices were outrageous, and so was the poor customer service. This establishment has decent prices on medical supplies in comparison to other places in SD; however, the customer service is horrible. If you want to be helped you need to seek out an employee and explain to them fully what you need. They will not address you, nor will they pay you any attention unless you are in their faces and loud. Do not wait for service, ask for it! Otherwise you will be waiting for quite a while to be helped. Also..it would be wise to make a list of what you need and stick with it because once they do pay attention to you, the associates will try to get you to buy things you don't need. Like wheelchairs or hospital beds when all you needed was some gauze or a CPR mask. You will save money in this store. As most of the reviews say, customer service at this place in non existent. I had been a customer with these people for over five years. We were told they could not service our business any more due to stairs we had. Why over so much time they decide to change the rules on us, makes no sense. They tried to blame the FDA, what??? Makes no logical sense. I offered to take supplies up myself and person on phone said no. If they are looking at reducing clients and loosing business, they are on the right track. Well done!! They always have what I am looking for or they will direct me to some other supplier that can help. Meh! I needed to find some adhesive remover for my sons skin. I ran out last night and I had ordered some from Amazon but it was not going to be here until tomorrow. Just in case, I wanted to have some on deck. I drove to another place before this one and they did not have what I needed. I then drove down here. Waste of gas! I get inside and see that they have a lot of items. Good! I find my little area that I need and there is one open can of adhesive remove spray that I could use. It is like a "floor model" from what it looks like? The spray can was all dented up, the cap didn't fit right and it had some gunk on the side of it (I should have taken a picture of it to show you guys how jacked it really was). I ask the guy at the counter if they have any more of this spray and he says no. He even comments to me that "We probably wont be able to even sell this." (Because the can was so damaged). I ask him if I can get it for a great price then. I'm thinking like 50% off. He goes and checks with someone...manager maybe? Comes back and tells me he can do 10% off. What a freaking joke! I guarantee there is more than 10% of the item missing from this opened aerosol can! Just for the hell of it I ask him how much it is. It was $26.30. As soon as he said that, I was done and didn't want it regardless. This spray costs 17 bucks on Amazon. I know things might cost more here and it is more convenient. 10% off though on an already used/open inflated priced item to begin with? No thanks. Won't ever come back to this place again. All the customers I saw in here were old as dirt. They probably are not "computer savvy" and are getting ripped off. If you go online, you can find anything you want and I guarantee it costs less than what it does here. read more

Ok I don't normally rant like this ever, but this totally pissed me off today. I was at PMS in El Cajon. (Professional Medical Supply) To get some things for my mom. It just turned 5 pm and we were about to walk out. A van pulled up with a woman driving and a Marine in full dress blue. He got out as the guy was closing the door. The PMS guy yelled, "Sorry we are closed!".. WTF?!?!? This is a Marine in dress going to a medical supply store. You can't stay open 5 more minutes!!!!!!!!!! Aside from that, customer service was horrible, the wait time was ridiculous. I returned an unused unwrapped item and I was there about 25 minutes to get a refund. SUCH BULL$HIT..
