This place is now called Uncorked Friday evening 5/17 I met some friends on the Avenue for a night out. There were six of us and one of our stops was here. We entered the cocktail side of the business, there were 3 empty high top tables with seating for four patrons and we asked if we could push two together so we could sit together (we have done this several times when it was Winedown). The woman who greeted us gave us a hard time and excuses. So we left and went up the street to the Bar Cart instead. It's a shame because Uncorked was not that busy and they turned business away. I worked in the bar/restaurant environment and if we could we pushed tables together to accommodate the patrons 5/20 Becky We asked to push tables together on the cocktail side where the windows open, not the bar We have done this several times when it was Winedown.

6/23/2018 - Very impressed with Wine Down and I can't wait to come back. First, I have to say that Nicole, who took care of us was incredible. She has impeccable customer service skills! We came in as a group of four and sat on a high top. Nicole got us menus and water. After hearing her recommendations, we decided on one of the specials; Shrimp tostadas, arugula, fresh tomato and also the CASTELVETRANO OLIVES ($5), TOMATO BRUSCHETTA MOZZERALLA, BASIL OIL Toast ($5.50) and a CHEESE AND SALUMI BOARD (three $15). We all ordered individual glasses of wine to go with the appetizers. The Shrimp Tostadas came out hot. There were two big shrimp on each. Perfect to share. The olives came with toast on the side. My favorite was the Cheese and Salumi Board. You can order one, two or three and mix and match. For our cheese, we ordered the PIAVE VECCHIO[ITALY]cheese which has a flavor like parmigiano reggiano, PRIMA DONNA [HOLLAND] tasted like aged gouda. For the salumi, we ordered SWEET COPPA [ITALY] DUCK PROSCIUTTO. It came in a cool black board with toast, marcona almonds, fig, pickled onions and a side of a spicy mustard. It was the perfect board. Prices were very reasonable with food between $7 and $16 and most wines priced from $8 to $12. They offer specialty drinks and there is a Whiskey Bar accessible right next door that is part of Wine Down. Both atmospheres are relaxing and fun.

We have been hearing about this place for a while but it sounded a little more upscale than what we were looking for. After reading a recent review we decided to give it a try last. Wow! Blew our minds. The shepherds pie, Caesar salad and Philly cheesesteak rolls is what we ordered. Just wow! Beyond our expectations. The servers were so attentive and kind. Even the owner came to our table to check on us. Just go. It's amazing.

Finding your way upstairs adds to the speakeasy-style charm. The reception area alone sets the vibe: playful, stylish, and full of photo-worthy moments before you even sit down. It feels like you've discovered something not everyone knows about. We went with the small plate prix fixe menu (three courses), and each dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and -- most importantly -- delicious. Every course left us wanting just a little more, which is exactly how a tasting-style experience should feel. Nothing felt rushed, and the pacing of the food was on point. Cocktails were also excellent, creative, well-balanced, and fitting for the ambiance. The only hiccup of the night was drink service being a bit slow. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but noticeable. Overall, a great Restaurant Week experience in a space that feels both intimate and fun. I'll absolutely be back to explore the full menu soon.

You go up some steep wooden stairs and enter the restaurant. Shout out to our pro server, Graham! He definitely cared about the experience he provided and that we would leave satisfied. Everything he suggested was awesome, lamb, duck, and sticky toffee cake were packed with flavor. But all the other dishes we had were amazing. You must not miss out on the liver pate with the bread as a sharing dish. We brought our own wine as I like to control that aspect when I can and going to an unfamiliar restaurant. They charge a $40 corkage fee, which many think is expensive, but that is the going rate when fine dining.

When we were seated, we were given the prix fixe food menu but never provided with a drink menu. We were served water, but our waitress didn't ask if we'd like cocktails, wine, or any featured Valentine's drinks. For a special occasion dinner, that felt like a major oversight. The bigger issue, though, was the food. Several courses were noticeably undercooked and difficult to enjoy. The carrot salad had hard, undercooked carrots and a very bitter sauce that overwhelmed the dish. The grilled Badger Flame beets were also undercooked and had an unpleasant flavor. The beet risotto was firm and lacked the creamy consistency you expect from a properly prepared risotto. The halibut tasted overly fishy and seemed undercooked in the center. For $75 per person on Valentine's Day, we expected a polished, thoughtfully executed experience. Instead, the meal felt poorly prepared and not worth the price. It was an unsatisfying way to spend what should have been a special evening. The ambiance was very nice but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired.

We were a party of 8 and they were so nice to setup a table where we could all sit together even though it looked like they were full. Everyone could not say enough of how good the wines tasted. The tables ordered charcuterie boards, a hot honey, pepperoni flatbread, margarita flatbread, pistachio pesto flatbread, two different types of french fries and a meatball martini. The group raved about the flavors of the different flatbreads. The pistachio flatbread was a great hit. No one would ever think of a flatbread with pistachios. The cons: The menu isn't posted online (see my photos for sample menus), so you'll need to be comfortable going in without previewing your options. It's also not marked for gluten-free items, so plan on asking your server for guidance. Most of the wines feature grapes sourced from California, with a few selections from South Africa and at least one Malbec from Chile. Aside from some Oakville Cab Sauvs, I'm not a big fan of California wines--so if you are, you'll likely feel right at home here.
