Decided to stop here on the way through to Missouri after reading other reviews. Was a little skeptical if it would be family friendly after reading signs posted outside however so glad we gave the bucket a chance. Service was a little slow but they only had one waitress on duty, so with that in mind she kept up really well and was very friendly. Pizza rolls were AMAZING, a definite must try! I had a wrap and it was good, not much pizzaz you can add to that but the homemade ranch was tasty. Another person in our party had their wings and they were really good! They had a salt/vinegar taste to them- she picked mild. We finished off with the almost heaven dessert. I highly recommend this desert, warm pasty and delicious ice cream really topped off our meal. I wish we were staying longer so I could try even more dishes. Definitely worth the stop! read more

I've had people trying to get me out for their Karaoke Fridays for weeks, now. Well, last night was the first time they actually HAD the karaoke that people had been trying to lure me there for, and lo and behold, no bartenders to be found. I'd been under the impression that this place was a bar, considering they check ID at the door and all, but what kind of bar doesn't serve drinks? Apparently this place. We have heard a lot of good things but had never been to The Bucket. Decided to make the hour drive. We walked in with no wait and a lot of tables available. Our hostess came to seat us but wanted to inform us that after being seated it would be an hour before we would get food. No explanation was given. The place is showing quite a bit of wear but then again it is a bar and grill. And from what I hear has pretty good food. But unfortunately it's absolutely unacceptable to wait a hour after being seated for food. I understand waiting to be seated but there were a lot of seats available. Who knows what the issue was. It was our first time and no explanation was given. We decided to leave and go to cold spot where we were served and received our wings fast. Maybe I'll give the Bucket another shot one day. You can bet your ass I'll call ahead before driving a hour. read more

Four college girls from Florida walk into a bar... This place came highly recommended from locals. Overall, our service was AWFUL. Our waiter abandoned us for a different table where she continues to flirt for the entire time of our meal. The food was wonderful, like really, really good and overall our experience was great except for the slightly sketchy bar and the horrible service. Our first time there was Saturday, March 20, 2021, was not busy at the time. Place our order, took over an hour to get any food at all. Got a steak to go, didn't look at it till I got home, I told her I needed it very tender, it was literally burnt, couldn't chew it & need I say, I paid $21.00 just for the steak. I give credit where credit is due, my husband said his fish was good, but I will have a hard time going back due to the wait & how my steak was cooked. Not very impressed with the timing, however, some of the food was good, the salad, the wings were a little hotter than I wanted but that is ok. Guess if we want anything from here on out, will call in order way in advance & pick up. We did tip the waitress, not sure who this all fell on. If I could give it less than a star I would. Every time there's karaoke the asshole that does it insists on turning it up sky high so it blasts your hair back. He sings and not a soul wants to hear him. Everyone has been sitting here hours without any food. When we asked about appetizers they said oh it's backed up tonight yeah but no one has any food so that doesn't make sense. This place has gone down hill. Also they waste a table down front for the owner so no one can sit there and keep people waiting out in the rain. Don't waste your time this place is shit. read more

The guys who work are super nice but the women ( or should I say girls MOST OF THEM ) that work at the bucket. Are rude and mean. I was sitting down waiting to place a order and a blond girl ( supposed to be my server ) was outside chatting away. Then another server came over with brown hair asking if I have been taken care of. I said no and she gladly took my order and made suggestions, got me a drink while I wait. Comes to find out the blond girl got upset for some reason and was really rude to the brown hair girl. The blond headed girl was raising her voice while a lot of customers were around and the brown headed girl I heard her say while I got up to go to the bathroom, tell her basically to argue somewhere where customers won't hear. Finally after I came out and sat down the brown headed girl gave me my food and I payed. The bucket needs to hire women that are professionals like the brown headed girl was. All she try doing was put my order in while getting b***h at by the other blond. But other then that great food and some nice servers. read more

So we came in last night with a large group. I did not call ahead but I also did not realize how many were going to come. So we came in and had a gentleman start us. I don't think he wanted to take our party because he passed us off but was there the rest of the time we were there. Another server came over and asked how many more people were coming and asked if we called ahead. I said no we did not and I did not realize how many people were going to show up and I apologized. She kinda rolled her eyes at us, said nothing and walked away. We debated on just paying for the drinks we already ordered and just leaving but then...Kendra showed up!! She is a rockstar!!! She took great care of us after she was called in. We were so happy we decided to stay. Food was amazing. Some our party started to leave and we had overflowed to a second smaller table so then we helped Kendra clear the bigger table and we continued with more drinks. I got the impression that staff was frustrated with our group. We finished our drinks and went somewhere else to finish our night. read more

It seems the food quality has diminished. I loved their fried pickles but they changed the cut of the pickles. The last time I had them, they were too heavily battered, thin and too salty. If you want average wings with high prices, this is the place for you. I ordered the Bucket Sauce wings (ketchup-like base) and the medium sauce wings. Both were wet but extremely generic and warm temperature wise, not hot. Perhaps they'd been sitting out for awhile. Service was slow. We come to Charleston regularly from Lexington, KY to visit our daughter at UC. Tonight we decided to find a local place to grab an adult beverage and small bite and our search led us to The Bucket. From the time we walked in we were treated like family. The doorman welcomed us warmly, Amber asked us where we were from as she seated us and our server Brett went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, felt at home and were completely satisfied! We sampled a few beers before settling on our draft choices (a good selection to choose from) and ordered some pepperoni rolls. I never knew these existed?! These deep fried pieces of pizza heaven were to die for! There were four good size rolls in a half order. The sought was light and flavorful, wrapped up with cheese and pepperoni and deep fried. They were served with marinara and left me wanting more! We had mentioned to our server we were in town to watch UC volleyball and the next thing we know they had turned on ESPNU because they had NCAA volleyball playing and we were able to watch players we know while we ate. Chris, the owner stopped by the table and, not surprisingly, we quickly found common ground. It was like visiting a longtime friend rather than making a new one. There was good music playing (jukebox?)...a mix of classic rock and country. Chris said there is also live music so we will have to come back for that. The establishment is roomy and clean with ample parking. There is a good size patio with plenty of ambiance. If you are near Charleston go a little out of your way to visit The Bucket! My husband and I had a rare Monday date night, and remembered we wanted to try this place. So glad we did! Icy cold beer, a really yummy hot bologna sandwich, some big, meaty wings...and we were set! It was quiet - this place kicks up more on weekends - but it was comfy and friendly. Tasha - our barkeep and server, was friendly and gave good suggestions. Beer selection varies from everyday to crafty. Sports reigns on the screens and country music on the stereo. Lots of nods to the military, so if you are a veteran, speak up! The food was okay, basic bar food type stuff. We went on a weekend around 7p and they acted like it was a hassle for them to make certain menu items when they still had hours left to be open anyway. The staff wasn't super friendly even though we never gave them any reason not to be and were nothing but polite. The pepperoni roll was really good. Marinara sauce served cold which was disappointing. The wings are huge and very tasty. They were a little saucy for my taste. The Bucket seemed pretty busy when we got there for lunch, we sat at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. It took the waitress over ten minutes to come take our drink order and then it took quite a while to get our drinks or for her to take our order. The wait for our food took quite awhile and in that time our drinks were never refilled even though we all only had ice left. When our food finally came out one of the orders was wrong, they gave bbq chicken wings instead of mountaineer gold and they forgot the side salad. We were on a time constraint so we didn't send the wings back and just told them to cancel the side salad. My kids didn't like their "pizza" which was just pizza toppings on a hoagie bun and when we asked for ranch the waitress just grabbed a few cups that had been sitting on another table. Out of the whole experience we did like our fries and potato wedges. We had read so many good reviews, but we left feeling pretty disappointed. read more

Homey that is the only word to discribe this environment the owner comes around and gets you to laugh and smile and helps you understand the West Virginia culture do not be offset by the appearance this is the greatest place ever in the history of ever everyone is kind and laughing and talking it is truly a 5 star restraunt. AMAZING! The wings with the bucket sauce are a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. They are cooked perfectly and are a good size. Very nice people....However, I'd stay away from their burgers unless you enjoy hockey pucks. Seriously, the meat is scarce, burnt and not good. Home made chips, on the other hand, were great. Jalapeño ranch dip was also great. Not sure if the mop bucket on the dance floor was part to the "bucket theme?" But, the industrial detergent smell wafting from it did not go well with our meals. We sat ourselves at one of the many open tables and our overall service was extremely slow. We decided to give it a try after reading local food writer, Steven Keith's raving article in the newspaper. I'd like to know what qualifications Mr. Keith has to be labeled a food guy because I may never trust his opinion again. This is probably a great place to drink beer but I'm not sold on their food. Long wait, bad service, cold food. We waited over an hour for our food. We got one of our appetizers one hour after we had gotten there. The other one came out with our meals, about 15 minutes later. All of our food was cold and nasty. Our waitress didn't once ask how our food was, didn't even act like she cared about how we were doing at all. The food is overpriced and definitely not worth it in my opinion. We went on Sunday when they had the Monte Cristo, and it too was cold and overpriced. I was so excited to finally have a chance to try it. There was no attempt to try and my us happy, just a brief, "I'm sorry " from the waitress. Definitely will not go back!! I'm a black man with dreadlocks in the heart and soul of this country environment. Yet I felt welcomed and was greeted fairly among most. So I'd say anybody from any back ground could enjoy themselves here. I also enjoy their karaoke on Friday night. Definitely take your family and have a good time here. read more
