    New Menu as of 05/13

The menu changed although slightly. The required tip has gone up to $8 per guest. However, once we were seated, we waited nearly 45 minutes before a server came to take our table to take our order. This is still not a self-serve buffet. Despite this, the food was still decent.

You're crazy if you eat at buffets often. You have to be the healthiest person in your area. So much food. The main attraction is the lobster of course. Everything I've tried here is good. Service is great. It has a nice vibe but a bit noisy. The tip they collect when you pay before you are seated is now $7.00 per person but the waiters are usually on point. Still table service not a go get it yourself type of buffet since Covid. I sort of like it this way. When we get the lobster craving we come here.

Waited 3 hours until our pager went off. Waited an additional 20+ minutes in line to pay and be seated. There is an automatic $7 charge per person, supposedly for gratuity. Our party of 5 was split and seated at two different tables, and we had different servers. At first, our server was friendly and quick to take our order for soup/salad and first round of entrees (the menu is the table placemat, and you get to choose 4 items per round). She never returned to check up on us while we were eating; and we kept trying to flag her down and get her attention. We ended up asking other servers for things such as butter and lemon for our lobster tails & crab legs. Those were very much needed, as the crab legs were pre-cut and DRY AF. When our assigned server finally got to our table, she said the kitchen was closing and asked if we still wanted to order food...duh of course we did. Food taste and quality is not as good as it was before. My sisters who were at an adjacent table had already finished eating and were waiting for me. An employee that had just finished clearing/bussing a nearby table, dropped her tray, and a dirty plate full of trash and food fell on my sister's back. My poor sister had some sort of food residue/remnants on her back & clothing. Though the employee apologized, we felt like she could have done more; but we did not bother to escalate the situation and decided to leave.

Very interesting buffet, you have a server and order off of the menu. Then the items are brought to you. Some of the food was OK. The lobster was rubbery and did not taste fresh. The dessert items were my favorite, but I am just biased towards sweets. Honestly, I think this buffet is mid-tier and lack quality dishes. The appetizer for the table was a bag of tortilla chips with cheese/salsa... Definitely enjoy Morongo's buffet more!

Came back here again because my cousin has a free buffet ticket. Seems like the food and service got worst. Our server Reign is kinda in her own world not even paying attention when we are ordering. Apparently you have to go in order: appetizer/soup then main course then dessert. Once you order your main course you can't go back apparently..... the service is so slow I can't tell you how long we had to wait for our food to come out. Even for something simple like water didn't get served to us after we asked TWICE. the lobsters aren't as juicy as before. The crab legs they cut in half and are dry. The s'mores chocolate brownie which is a new chef creation is so sad. Just because you put a marshmallow and small graham drizzle on the side does not make it good. Presentation is nice but food is poor quality. And to top it off so is the service. I really wanted my clam chowder soup but what ever.

    3 hours wait...

This was not a true "buffet". After checking in we had to wait almost two hours. When we were texted to show up with our entire party of four, we had to wait another half an hour. Our drink orders were taken before being seated at the table. Upon arriving at the table we were served tortilla chips, guacamole and salsa. Not a very pleasant presentation with the chips still sealed in the packaging. We had to place your order four items at a time with a server. Our server was Jose. The ambiance was decent with big screen televisions showing random food items on the menu. On the screens were featured such dishes as lobster tail, prime rib and osso buco. And then randomly butter, ice tea and cookies. The lobster tail was tough and salty. So salty that I didn't even use the butter. I ordered white meat for the fried chicken and it was almost inedible. Although it was nicely seasoned, it was super dry as if it were sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Being it was lunar new year they had several "Asian Inspired" on the menu. The char siu BBQ looked pale and lacked flavor and seasoning. The gochujang glazed Korean smoked pork ribs were the opposite. Too much seasoning and salty as well. The same with the dynamite wings. The dim sum basket tasted blah. The dumplings and shumai were overcooked. I could have gotten better and fresher Chinese food at Panda Express. Disclaimer: I rarely eat at Panda Express haha. The other items were not even worth writing about. Valley View please step up your game with "The Buffet" otherwise I would rather go to the Black & Blue Steakhouse or Patties and Pints. Or better yet I would Harrah's which is less than ten minutes away. Harrah's has Hell's Kitchen and far superior dining experiences.

    "rare" prime rib.

Misleading. Seriously rename this to something else. This is NOT a buffet. Long wait times for a salad. A salad! And I asked for rare prime rib. What is this? Mandatory tip? No wonder, service is bad. Good ambiance though.

All the food was delicious. I ordered so much food and enjoyed each dish. The food was well flavored and service was fast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is the Buffet to go to!!

I went here in December 2023 and am just now getting around to writing this but yes very memorable experience. Not sure if it's bc of Covid but it's not a help yourself buffet. The waiter comes to your table and takes your order for each round. Service can be slow especially because the buffet is always packed but the waitresses try their best to get your food hot. There's some rules to ordering that I can't remember but there's a few things that were amazing. Lobster tails Alaskan crab Soft shell crab Beef birria Peanut butter cookie Pistachio ice cream

This is what was brought to me with my plate, I open in it and food particles! Yuck!!
    Brandy S.

If I could give it negative starts I would! It's not a buffet style, which is disappointing. We were on the waiting list took 1.5hrs. Then waited in line and another 30mins to get a table. Then waited about ten minutes (I timed it with my phone) just to get a drink order. Then waited about 15 minutes just to order food and our drinks haven't arrived. It was just a shit show. One of the servers just threw down the lava cake, and was told that the kitchen will be closed in 20 mins. Food was cold due to long wait times. Never got my second order of drinks, only had a plate and half to eat cause the restaurant is closing. And the food not to par being the best. The best of what? The BEST of wasting your time. Felt rush to order, service was shit. The tip is already included on the ticket. Never ever coming back to this buffet. The Casino itself was good, the staff helpful. If you want crappy food , long wait times then this is for you.

Long gone are the days where you can truly enjoy the buffet/all you can eat experience. With that being said, this is as good as it gets in terms of being as close to the experience as it was pre pandemic. Hosts, wait staff and servers work diligently and are very friendly. They do need to bring in more staff though as it is the elephant in the dining room. Food is still good just missing a few items that I used to love. Like the avocado halves with lemon or lime or even the chilled crab legs and last but not least, the oysters! Regardless, this place is still worth the visit. Las Vegas Style Dining where you definitely like a VIP. Kudos to Juan, Jin, JJ and Thalia for the excellent service. As well as the rest of the crew we didn't see or interact with since they make the magic work from behind the scenes. I'll be back for sure. Win, lose oe draw - I feel like a winner the moment I leave the buffet.

    Ryan M.

I've been coming to Valley View Casino and The Buffet for many years. I remember when we could self serve, or pick our own food. Since the Pandemic, Valley View Casino has restricted guests from picking the food, but having servers do it for them. Guests can only pick 4 items at a time for each plate. Starters, Main Course or dessert. It does not matter. 4 items per round (plate). I think the Prime rib and Alaskan King Crab legs are the stars of the buffet, but I also have a liking to Clam chowder soup. The creamy soup with the right amount of spices and numerous clams and potatoes and is really good. I also like having my soup with a bunch of soup crackers. The desserts are good. You can have Pie slices of Apple, Cherry, and Pumpkin. also Cookies, Creme Brulee and Jello. But I think their top Dessert Item is the Ice Cream. My Favorite is their Black Cherry ice cream. The cherry is perfect not too sweet and not bland. Just right. You can have ice cream in a bowl, or cone (with a bowl) or with sundae toppings. The Buffet at Valley View Casino and Resort is good, but I do wish we could pick our own food. Other recommended Items: Mac and Cheese, Seafood Pastry, Roasted Cauliflower

We've heard a lot of great reviews, so we decided to try it out! Even though we did not have reservations, the staff was incredibly accommodating while Alexis took our name and phone number and asked if we were celebrating any special occasion or if we had food allergies. Tim, our host, took us to our seat and the absolutely wonderful dining experience started! What stood out most was the attention to detail. While upscale restaurants pride themselves on high-quality coffee and thoughtful accompaniments, this restaurant's level of service is not standard! They provided an elaborate carrier laden with regular and whip cream, honey, chocolate and sugar stir sticks and topped it off with a biscotti for their brewed coffee! From carefully addressing food allergies to providing impeccable service throughout the evening, every member of the team made us feel genuinely cared for. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortably mixed with guests dressed from casual to elegant - perfect for a special occasion. We enjoyed the $75 three-course dinner, and both the pork chop and barramundi were exceptional. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented from the start of the potato lentil soup of the day and the fig and burrata salad to the dinner entrees! Every bite was a celebration of flavor! A special thank you to our waiter, Luciano, whose attentiveness and professionalism elevated the entire dinner journey. He struck the perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us to enjoy our evening. The highlight of the night was dessert. The presentation was done in such a thoughtful and meaningful way to recognize both our silver anniversary and a milestone birthday along with personally staff signed cards. I'm sure they do it for all their guests celebrating special events, but it made our already memorable evening truly unforgettable. This was more than just a great meal - it was an experience we'll always remember. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for outstanding food, exceptional service, and genuine hospitality.

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.

The most popular item tbh is the garlic shrimp pasta and it makes sense because it hits every time you are craving it. The burger is pretty good here too. As someone who is on a salt restriction, I usually just ask things for no seasoning/no butter if I can, and they can usually accommodate. The service can depend on the rush, so don't be too quick to judge based on it. They can be short staffed at random times, but honestly they are really kind and considerate people who love serving others and easy to talk to and love. We haven't had troublesome workers ever. The ambiance is like a moderate to teeny bit fancy diner-esque type of place. It is pretty chill in here. No dress code vibe. People have come dressed up for Mother's Day brunch vibes or in swimwear with covers/tank tops with board shorts and their floaties from the lazy river. When I'm in the mood for wings, I get naked wings with sauce on the side. Their blue cheese dressing is delicious. The wings are naked naked like no salty flavor or anything which I can appreciate a plain palette/canvas so that I can go as liberal or not with sauces. They are quick to refill your cups/coffee. :)

6/2 update: Lost $2500 just to see if the slots really were tight and yup it's true. I even played…read morethe popular slots like Huff n Puff, Dragon Link, Five Fortunes, Phoenix Link, Monopoly Express, and the new Monopoly board game. (I avoided the craps machines this time since they seem to seven out very often after 3-5 rolls.) All the slots took $500 each with either zero return or very abysmal $20-100 return (after already being down $500 so that's not even worth it at all). I don't even do small bets, I usually do $4+ spins on 2¢ denominations on everything so it's really baffling that I only get back less than 10% of what I put in. All of this was also within 2 hours so it's very concerning that you can lose huge amounts of money so fast. I even tried with $265 worth of moreplay since moreplay isn't supposed to negatively affect the machine but... Nothing. Nada. Zero features whatsoever. That's absolutely bonkers and makes no sense. The RTP really needs to be checked here and they need to change their slogan to "the tightest slots in San Diego". But hey at least I got a "free" baking dish set. What a joke 6/7 update: Came here again since my family loves this place. I checked my overtime play and wow.. I'm shocked. With $2500 down the drain from last week I only accrued $40. Wtf is that?? Yeah there's definitely no rewards or perks worth it to keep playing. I also lost another $115 in moreplay and another $150 in actual money. Again, ZERO features for $115 of moreplay, one feature on one slot that paid me $15 after being down the first $70 and then zero features on the second slot losing my last $70. Lost it all in 30 minutes. I don't understand how anyone is reaching the black card tier unless they're literally spending $20,000 every 6 months to maintain black card status. I've never once walked out positive or even breaking even. Either the RTP is seriously fucked here or I have 0% luck If I were to give 5 stars for something though, it would be for Kevin in the VIP room. Give that dude a raise or promotion for the best customer service Also minor note, it's funny that I'm still not recognized and get carded to enter the casino by the same security guards over and over despite coming here 1-2 times a week every week for 2 years now

It's a small-ish space with not a lot of tables and no real ambiance, so be prepared to wait in line at peak hours (there is no dedicated Diamond /Seven Stars line). The menu is extensive and offers a wide assortment of mostly Chinese dishes (common/classic as well as slightly more obscure) as well as some Thai and Korean dishes. We've eaten there twice and were pleased both times. The ingredients were fresh, the food came out quickly, and everything was well-seasoned. The portions are quite large-- for example the hot and sour soup easily feeds six adults. Parking is free in the structure and first floor parking lot. There is no outdoor seating.

I noticed they also have take out and there was lots of orders being made/picked up. Considering this is a casino, the prices were very reasonable and the portions large. The soup bowl was huge and there was more than enough for 3+ people. Although we come to this casino often, this was our first time at this restaurant. We will be back again as the food was tasty but we will order less! Our group of three ordered one noodle bowl, fried rice and two chicken dishes - kung pao and orange. So much food. They also started with waters and have fountain Pepsi products.
