Cocktail menu

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered 3 different apps-whipped ricotta, city skewers and the Korean fried chicken wings. No photos of food because we dived in too quickly! All 3 apps were delicious! I had the Victoria cocktail and the Pheaton-both excellent cocktails. The service/bartenders were excellent. This establishment will be in our regular rotation. Looking forward to the Speak Easy opening in July!!

I really really tried to love this place because I am a Carthage local and I got very excited that our downtown got a new spot to eat and hangout. Atmosphere was great and the building and ambiance is top! that part I give 5 stars. We went on a Friday night and there was a very talent singer that sang a variety of songs and played the guitar, although he was excellent it was extremely loud, so it was hard to have a dinner conversation. Service was good, given it's still a new restaurant. Now here is where I am disappoint, the food and drinks are extremely overpriced. I ordered the tomatoes pie with cheese, weird anyways that it doesn't come with cheese, and I received some sort of feta vs mozzarella or something that actually melts. The pizza was straight up horrible. I was offered a new one and accepted and picked the pepperoni instead. that one was much better but honestly not worth the almost $40 price tag for a large pizza! the ricotta dip and Caesar salad were great but also on the expensive side! the cocktails are also way too expensive for a small town like Carthage! $14-16 for a cocktail is Raleigh and Charlotte prices, not downtown Carthage! I likely won't be returning because I rather drive into So Pi and get better food and drinks for cheaper!

Until a friend's meetup group scheduled an afternoon "let's have cocktails all afternoon" Friday. Yup, count me in! I got there right at the appointed time, and the early birds were already halfway into their wine. There is a large patio area outside with chairs and tables in small groups. A sunshade and some nicely placed trees help a little There are a few 2- and 4-tops scattered around as you enter. To the left is a large square bar that projects into the room. Behind it is a veritable library of liquors, towering to the ceiling, which is about 9-10 feet high. Seeing the bartender climb up the sliding ladder and fetch a spirit was part of the show. Further to the left are two seating areas with round tables. We had one of these. The Cabernet proved to be the darling of the group (I think we had three bottles and a few extra glasses, but no one was counting! There were eight of us, so don't think we're a bunch of drunks!) I had looked over the menu online and started with the "Up in Flames". It's a Tiki drink, served with a squeezed lime shell garnish that has a sugar cube and some kind of liquor in it. The waiter lights it while still on the tray, and then sprinkles in cinnamon, which sparkles into the drink. He then extinguishes the flame and serves it. It was quite a show and very delicious! If I ever go and sit outside, I'm going to film it! After a bit, we were getting hungry, so food started appearing. The fig & prosciutto flatbread arrived first, (with a single plate and napkin). It was a 12" x 6" flatbread spread with honey, figs, prosciutto, chèvre, and arugula. Another of these came out later. Quite delicious. Someone else had the nachos, which they said were amazing. After asking, the server brought out more plates and napkins. Other cocktails that we tried and enjoyed were the Perro Perdito (Lost Dog) and the Drastic Measures. The Mango-chili shrub in this one packed a bit more heat than the Jalapeño dip! But it was tasty, with the salt/tajin half-rim. After a few hours of fun food and drink and a lot of laughter, we decided to release our hold on the table. The dinner crowd was champing at the bit to take over, and we were pretty sated. Everyone was safe to drive, so we hugged all around and parted ways, well fed and better friends. Thanks, N&S. You may drag me back to Apex again any time!!

The cocktails are kinda of craft artisan with fresh ingredients and some creative combinations. But the low score is simply for watching the youngish female bartender make our drinks while continuously vaping (literally making them one handed so she could vape with her other hand) and blowing exhaled vape all over our drinks and the bar itself. The thing that bothered us the most was that it wasn't hidden and the other workers saw her doing it including the chef/manager or owner. Then, the kitchen started playing very loud music which seemed out of place but more so that it was feuding with the restaurant music and making conversation impossible. I'm all for a good track of Judas Priest at loud volumes but... This place a couple years ago was great, but the service has taken a bit of a drop and the prices have crept up quite a bit as well.

Instead of addressing feedback respectfully, they chose to respond with personal attacks, profanity, and an aggressive tone. This kind of behavior from a business owner is not only inappropriate but completely unacceptable. It sadly confirms the poor experience we had and reinforces why I would not recommend this establishment to others. Extremely Disappointed - Would Not Return I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at The Beagle in Pittsboro was truly upsetting. The service was the worst we've encountered in a long time. My mom waited over an hour for a drink she ordered, and when she politely asked to cancel the cocktail and just get a beer instead, the young blonde waitress shockingly called her a "bitch" and refused to continue serving us. We were stunned--not only by the unprofessionalism, but by the complete lack of accountability from anyone else working there. No manager stepped in. No apology was offered. As for the food: it was mediocre at best. Small portions, bland flavors, and certainly not worth the prices they charge. Absolutely unacceptable service, and sadly, nothing about the food made up for it. We won't be back--and we suggest others think twice before dining here.

Ended up getting a pizza which had a selection of their smoked meats on it, it didn't disappoint. Some portions of the crust were a little too hard as opposed to softer and chewy. I'm not going to say who did, because I don't know if that's something the bar staff was even supposed to do. But i certainly did appreciate the gesture. The Pivoted Hazy IPA is the one of the best beers I've tried in years. Great flavor, not too heavy, well balanced, hint of citrus flavor. Not a lot of great things tend to come out of New England, but the IPAs are one! I also liked the lime wheel beer. Not too sweet, sour, or tart, just very well balanced and refreshing. If you want to go with a real West Coast IPA, the Thistle Brew will do the job. The piney notes and grapefruit flavors are quite pronounced. This wasn't necessarily my style, but I think it will please those who prefer the hoppier flavors. I scored a free sticker too. Bathrooms are really small...and make sure you move the lock latch all the way over...I'll just leave it there.
