I wanted to try the sweet potato fries, but they were sold out. My husband ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich, the mango habanero boneless wings, and the cheese curds. Everything tasted great, but they definitely need to elevate their spice levels. Nothing was truly spicy, even though the flavors were solid. I also agree with others who mention the pricing. The Burger Bar has a little more going for it than some of the other spots in the area. There's some TVs on, people laughing, eating, having a good time. So yeah, the atmosphere is definitely better. It actually feels like a place you'd want to hang out for a bit. The food is solid. My burger was really good. No complaints there. But when you get a burger, fries, and a drink and the total is $18, it definitely makes you stop and think. That's a lot for a cheeseburger combo. Hard to justify spending that much unless it's something really special. I asked if I could sub out my fries for onion rings and they said no. If you want onion rings, you have to order them as a separate full side. So basically they want you to get a burger with fries and a whole extra order of onion rings. That just doesn't make sense. Most burger joints will let you swap sides no problem. That kind of thing should be basic. That said, the food comes out fast and the service is good. They bring your drinks quick and the staff seems on it. So if you're cool with dropping around $20 on a burger, it's worth checking out. But for me, with those prices and no flexibility on simple stuff like swapping sides, it's probably a one-time visit. read more

I would give them 7 stars if I could. This was my first visit after friends told me The Burger Bar was a must. First, the dining is L shaped with a combination of booths and tables. There is a full bar that seats about 20. It's decorated in red, black, stainless steel, and grey concrete. They have 8 or 9 large screen TVs to watch sports. The restaurant is very clean. Large menu of drinks, appetizers, and burgers. I ordered the Figgidy Goat (2 smashed fresh beef patties, fig jam, spinach, and goat cheese on a toasted bun along with sweet potato fries. The fries were some of the best I have ever eaten. Perfectly fried but no grease with just a touch of salt. The combination of sweet jam and salty cheese were a great match for 2 nicely cooked patties. Fantastic flavor. I also had a guava margarita . Was so excited to try this place. Went in this past week to experience it. The burger was small and the price was way big. Sorta sticker shock. I am a big burger fan and yes ive tried them lots of places. The burger was good but nothing wow. The in house made chips were way over seasoned IMO and I do like the house made chips. Inside the layout is nice with a big bar and lots of screens. Downsides was super cold so take a long sleeve or sweater. The music was over the top loud to. Dont rush to judgement on my review. If you look at my other reviews of places I typically leave very favorable ones but really cant here. My wife wants to try it so I will go again and try something different for sure...and take a hoodie and ear plugs. ill update this review if I have a better visit. read more

Fantastic wait staff and good service. While we really wanted to love the place, the burgers were frankly kind of bland. Milk shake was pricey for the size. As someone with food allergies, staff did not know the ingredients of their sides and had to 'check the package.' And when we asked for BBQ sauce on the side, the receipt came out as 'no BBQ sauce' for the burger, then we were charged $.50 for a side of BBQ sauce. Not the server's fault - this is obviously the fault and inflexibility of the ordering software. It's little things like this that just contributed to a disappointing experience. read more

Food - It was good, but nothing outstanding. It may just be my taste. I'm not a big "Smash Burger" fan. I got a single, and you could damn near see through the patty. Service - This was probably my biggest turnoff. We were greeted and seated promptly. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. A server never came to our table. After about 5+ minutes, I literally stuck my arm out in front of a young girl walking by our table and asked if she could get our server. She said, "Oh, nobody has come over? I guess I can help you." We ordered, and I asked if we could get onion rings instead of the French fries that came with the burger. I even told her I understood that there would probably be an upcharge, and that I was OK with that. The answer was "no". We would have to buy a separate side of onion rings ($7.95, I think). I also asked if they would cut my burger in half, and again, the answer was "no." When I asked why, I was told it was too confusing for the kitchen staff to keep up with special requests. Ridiculous!!!! So $30'ish (incl tax) for a cheeseburger so thin I could almost see through the patty, an order of onion rings (NOT hand battered), and 2 teas. Ambiance - Nice place, clean, lot's of TV's for watching sports. The $30 price tag, and what I perceive as a lack of customer accommodation, for an average (I'm being generous) cheeseburger gives me pause for returning, but I never say never. read more

We are regulars here and find the food quality hit and miss. The previous trip was good. This last visit was just awful. We always order cheeseburgers and classic fries. My wife looked at her meat patty and said, "This is not a smashburger." My patties weren't smashed either. We both ate about a third of our burger and commented on how dry and tasteless they were. The buns were terrible, barely toasted, dry and not fresh. It was then I realized my burger had no cheese. My wife's didn't either. She pushed her burger away. I hadn't eaten all day, so I choked down the rest after removing one patty. We ate our fries, but they were also terrible. They were way overcooked. We informed our server. He apologized, looked at our order and said there was no cheese requested. It was his mistake. We were charged full price for both meals. They should've at least comped my wife's burger. Incompetent server and incompetent kitchen. Just last week we ordered the same meal from the drive-thru at Freddy's in Cedar Park. Everything was perfect and delicious. Their burgers are real smashburgers. We've also tried all the appetizers here. They range anywhere from bad to mediocre. The pickle slices on the burgers have a bizarre flavor. The bad meals here now outnumber the good ones by a substantial margin. We keep coming back thinking our luck will change, and, there just aren't many places to eat in Lago Vista. read more

The service always very good. They have a nice decor and ambiance. Ordered the garlic Parmesan truffle shareable fries, artichoke dip and the Trip burger: The fries were good and wells seasoned. It's huge so it can truly be good for 3-4 people. The artichoke dip was on the dryer side, artichoke dip should be a little more creamier. However, i did like that the tortilla chips were warmed up and were not salty. The Trip burger was very tasteful. The bun is very fluffy and and the meat was very yummy. I also got the Passion Margarita. It was yummy but i didn't taste the passion fruit as much. Also, my bad that i didn't ask if passion margarita was actually passion fruit or something else. Honestly wouldn't come here again because the prices are outrageous for the quality of food. They charge extra for everything as well. 0.75 cents for a bbq sauce??? Fantastic afternoon happy hour at The Burger Bar today! We arrived there around 3:30 and sat down immediately. Our server was prompt in bringing us menus and taking our order! There is a full bar with plenty of beer on tap and some wine/champagne on tap too - something for everyone! We started with the spinach artichoke dip and some fried jalapeños (they didn't have enough jalapeños for a full order so they brought us what they had and didn't charge us). Apps were great and arrived very quickly. I ordered a simple bacon cheeseburger and my wife got the wings - both were amazing! The burger is cooked to order and is one of the best I've had as of late. Smash burgers are tricky to cook and still keep them juicy but they nailed it. My wife enjoyed the wings - sauce was good and the wings were cooked how she likes them! We can't wait to come back. It's a small place but it never got too noisy and the TVs are enormous! We were at the pool and decided to go to The Burger Bar, I couldn't find a phone number for them to call and see how late they were open and couldn't find their hours on Google, their web page or on FaceBook but YELP said 10pm so we went with that. We got there at 8:35pm, ends up, they close at 9. There were about 12 other people dining when we got there but as soon as we did a cook in the back starting looking at us and screaming, "EWWWWWW! WHO are these People!!!!" He must've been stoned or drunk because he didn't realize that we all could hear him and even the lady at the bar came to our table and apologized as she could hear him to. He screamed that same phrase 7 times no kidding, 7 times, again and again and again... and also while our waitress was taking our drink order. She kept rolling her eyes at him and then went back there to tell him how loud he was being. We acted like we didn't hear anything... Later on, what seemed to be a manager, and a great manager at that, came over and said she heard everything he had said even from the bar area where she was and she apologized again and again. The manager and the waitress did so well to overcome what the cook was doing, if I was the waitress I would have hidden in the back and not visited that table, if I was a young woman having to deal with all this. She came to our table again and again filling up drinks, asking how things were etc. I worked at a place called Z Pizza, doing deliveries about 10 years ago so I know what it's like when it's late and you get a last minute order but damn, I'd never scream at the customers and say, "EWWWWWW, who are these people," like 7 times in a row while staring at them angrily. Definitely will never be back, Lago Vista deserves better, much better than this. Also, if you were wondering, it was the older guy, probably in his early 30's, he was the one screaming at us, the 3 younger looking High School/College aged guys didn't say anything but just laughed at the dumb, old cook, I doubt they respect him at all though. So how was the food? Mediocre, no cheese on my burger and loads of onion, you can tell the cooks don't give two shits about their jobs. read more

The restaurant seating is split down the middle, 1/2 bar and 1/2 restaurant. Bottom line, the specialty burgers were exceptional, I came to eat not drink. For a complete meal be prepared for +$20/ person for the experience. There were 3 tempting and popular burgers. We reserved the blue cheese version for another day when we come back! Service was great, fast and thorough, pay and scan your card at the table. Major detractor and downer are the large coarse paper towel rolls at the table down grading the ambiance. Just a suggestion: Napkins are classier and would absorb better. Figgidy Goat (4.8/5) - a hand pressed and smashed on the grill hamburger topped with delicious creamy goat cheese crumbles. Under the moist patty are fresh spinach leaves that separates the meat juices from a light fig jam spread on a soft bun...a real nice surprise . Willies Western (4.7/5) - Typical western style barbecue where the flavor is not so much in the hamburger as it is in the surrounding fixings. Meat was tasty and crunchy, but the juices unavoidably soften the crisp fried union ring. Thick smoked bacon adds it's own dominating good flavor and the barque sauce (ordered as a side) has a distinct sweet smoked flavor. Melted provolone cheese was enough to provide good coverage. French Fries - (4.2/5) String fries cooked perfectly. Fried Onion Rings - (4/5) Crunchy outside, cooked to the core with a real onion ring slices. Soft onion.
