Can't remember the last time I went to an In N Out Burger. 10 years, maybe longer. Today I was in Cedar Park, and passed an In N Out on my way to a store. Thought, on my way back, I'm stopping in. I arrived around 7pm on Friday night. The place was packed! All the seats were taken inside and a lot outside as well. Parking lot is kind of small, but it's in a shopping center, so you can find parking still nearby. As busy as it was inside, I walked right up to the counter, no lines. My cashier was nice and cheerful. One of her co-workers was leaving her shift for the night, and the 2 did a cute little hand shake. Took a minute to pick what I wanted. Basic cheese burger, fries, and a drink. I was given my receipt which had my order number on it. My whole meal was $9.00 Burger was outstanding. Crisp tomatoes, crisp lettuce. The bun is toasted but also soft. Cheeseburger also had a slice of white onion. Cheese was yellow cheese, and not melted on the burger. Loved the burger completely. Fries. Although the fries are fresh, and while I waited for my order, I could see a young lady putting potatoes through a fry cut slicer. I mean, you can literally see them being made. But they just didn't do it for me. They almost tasted stale. They were salted perfectly though. Very light salt. Perfect in that retrospect. I got a cherry Coke, although I don't drink soda often, I truly enjoyed the soda. Sometimes they have a syrup kind of taste. Cherry Coke didn't, and it was great. Didn't take long before they called my number. I sat along the bar against the window. I watched the drive thru cars leaving. The bar was clean, seat was clean, and the floor around was clean. The whole restaurant was super clean. One person was sweeping, another followed behind with a mop. It was like a perfect sync of cleaning duties. They had it down to a science. I did use the bathroom as well to wash my hands, and even the bathroom was clean, and well stocked with soap and paper seat covers and TP in the stalls. Even the trash cans looked like they had just been emptied. Even though they were cranking out food for the drive thru and inside, they still took time to keep the dinning area clean. "WANTED SOME PROTEIN-STYLE BURGERS" The other day, my lovely wife and I wanted some Protein-Style Burgers, and the best place for these is at In-N-Out Burger. Unfortunately, San Angelo does not have an In-N-Out, but there are a few places around here that do offer some sort of Lettuce Wrapped Burgers, but they are just not the same. So, we did the next best thing: we took a Road-Trip to Cedar Park, Texas, to enjoy the Best Protein-Style Burgers EVER. This In-N-Out is only 193 miles away and makes for a nice day-trip in under 3 hours - one way. It's also a beautiful drive through this part of Texas. Arrived just after 11 am, and there are already a good number of people here, especially at the drive-thru. Joanna took our order: 1 Cheeseburger, Protein-Style, with Onion, Tomato, Pickles, and their sauce, also with Ketchup & Mustard. I am having the Double-Double, Protein Style, with Onion, Tomato, Pickles, and the sauce, also with Ketchup & Mustard. And we asked for 2 small drinks. My wife told Joanna that she is beautiful, and I totally agree. Filled up our drinks, Nancy grabbed a table, and I waited for our order at the bench. In-N-Out always has a lot of employees behind the counter, with each one doing their specialty. Soon our number was called, and these Protein-Style Burgers look delicious. Every In-N-Out we have been to, including out-of-state ones, always makes their Burgers the same - lots of wrapped Lettuce with a couple slices of Tomatoes and an entire slice of Onion (not slivered or pieces), with lots of Pickles. There is nothing like a nice Crisp Bite, and these Burgers provide that with every bite - and they are Very Sloppylicious with plenty of Sauce, Ketchup & Mustard. The Patty itself is perfectly seasoned and is very tasty. Lots of juiciness on the napkins below. No French Fries this time, just reducing our carbs for a while, and I love them with lots of Cheese on top. Since this is a Road-Trip, we decided to enjoy some more, went back a little later and ordered another Double-Double, Protein-Style, with Onion, Tomato, & Pickles with plenty of sauce (no ketchup or mustard this time). Also, Two-Cheeseburgers, Protein-Style, with Onion, Tomatoes, Pickles, and the sauce (with no ketchup or mustard). Caleb took our order this time, and the wait did not take very long - here's our food. These are also Perfectly Protein-Styled, wrapped with the same Crisp Crunch of the Lettuce and the tastiness of the Burgers. And they are Very Sloppylicious. For us, Protein-Style is the way to go - and we are happy we went. The drive back was as beautiful as the drive over, especially with full tummies. Grab someone you care about and take a Road-Trip to an In-N-Out somewhere, and enjoy a Protein-Style Burger of any size, on Menu or Off-Menu. In a world where everything is costing so much, appreciate that In N Out has kept their prices on the lower end. Coming from Cali i will have the quality of meat and even the bun is very different here in Austin, in a good way. We have always had great service in this location. I don't understand the hype. It must be for the shakes. I went when they first opened and hated it. Today I was craving fries and a burger and they were the most convenient location so I thought I would try them again. I waited 15+ minutes in the drive thru. There's a lot of burger places in town and believe me, they're all wonderful in their own way. But, there's something about an In-N-Out burger experience that's like none other! Freshly made burger patties seasoned perfectly, fresh produce to go on there. The zip of an "Animal Style" fries and burger change up. You can't touch it anywhere else. Our visit was long overdue in the area; our new home and being well aware of this business from our former western home in Nevada. It was definitely the same...clean inside dining room, maintained outside dining areas, and a line in the drive-thru with an order taker at the entrance to keep the flow moving without fail. Inside, chaos...the usual ordering and preparation chaos known to anyone who's been in and around a kitchen before. Pure delight haha! My order for the family of four was pretty normal with a few modifications. But when I saw the printed receipt something was a huge miss. The girl didn't quite hear my order properly and the read back sounded weird as well. So after checking the receipt I went back in and clarified. Yeah they missed the mark a couple times and that 4x4 for myself was just not on the nights plans. I didn't pay for a second one but I ended up hungry for a second double-double to make up for it. So...you got me twice as a paying customer. Managers or other employees were attentive and tried their best. I chalk it up to, it was loud inside and just hard to digest the order fully - but for me to come in twice to clarify and make changes was a bit much. Better next time right? In and Out is a Bay area classic that makes its way to Austin. Perfectly located for lunch before shopping at Costco, I've found that the drive-thru line here is almost always quite long and going in can be faster. I always order my fries extra crispy which does take longer to get the order (longer being relative; I tracked 9 minutes from order to pickup for a double double and extra crispy fries). My wait was rewarded - I had the best fries I've ever had at an In-and-Out here, and I've been to ones in Vegas and the Bay. Where they could use some work is balancing condiments on the burger; you can see in my photos that one side had no lettuce while the other had all of it. But I give them a 5/5 for the fries alone, which are usually the weakest point of In-and-Out. It's virtually the same price as P. Terry's (at the time of writing, $7.63 for a double double + fries at In-and-Out vs. $7.58 for a double cheeseburger and fries at a P. Terry's) so if you're a fan of good fast food burgers, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

IMO, In-N-Out burger is meh. I do appreciate their dedication to quality ingredients. Fresh fries, hormone free beef and hand made shakes. Their shakes are ok, but they say handmade, but they still come out of a machine. I prefer PTerry's over In-N-Out. They are better than WhatAburger's shakes by far and on par with MCDonalds. Their fries is really where it is lacking. Burgers are pretty legit. But their fries while they are fresh cut potatoes and fried in 100% sunflower oil, are bland and seem under cooked constantly. They also pay their employees well. Staff is efficient but not friendly. Seating area is clean. And there is no cold water when washing your hands in the men's bathroom. It's In-N-Out, so you know what you're going to get. For those of you that don't know, it's probably the best kind of fast food burger you'll get. I've usually come here for a late night meal because another thing they're known for is being open late. Being used to them in their homeland of So Cal I was prepared to have their Texas location to be somehow deficient. I wasn't sure what it would be, food or the service but I was pleasantly surprised to find that neither of them suffered from the distance away from their HQ. My usual for Double-double, extra toasted bun, animal style with chopped chiles is still as good as ever. The service is as friendly as ever, both drive-through and dine-in. When we moved from Nevada, I was sad to be leaving In-N-Out Burger behind. Little did I know, we'd have more locations here than we did in Reno, and much closer to the house. The food was as amazing as always, it's definitely well loved, as there was no seating inside and there was the inevitable long line in the drive-through, which was moving pretty quickly, but we were happy to sit outside in the cool evening air. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review is the person taking the orders couldn't keep the order straight to save her life, and a couple of snafu's happened. We came in today at about 11:15 am so definitely before the lunch rush but it wasn't too empty. ALL of the employees were really friendly and kind, and they had people cleaning up the tables as soon as people got up from them and making sure to keep the dining area clean. I eat fast food 2.4 times per year. The .4 is if it was 3.0 but I got sick. Fortunately, this experience was nothing like that. People who work here are literally the friendliest I have ever seen at a fast food restaurant. Could this be because they saw me taking photos and knew I was a Yelper? I do like mysteries. But let's give them the benefit of the doubt. The burger was a solid 4. Same for the fries. Is this what California fast food is all about? Not thrilled with CA-style pizza, but maybe fast food (and palm trees along wide roads) are their thing. Food is fine. It's a fast food burger spot that's relatively cheaper than other fast food spots. You know what you're getting. That's not the point of this review. Whomever in the corporate setting felt is was a good idea to ask how drive through orders should be packaged is a poor decision maker. First, it was busy, as per usual, and the drive through speaker is either quiet or the person conducting the drive through speaks quietly. I do not hear well. As I was ordering, I could not hear what she was saying to me, but I attempted to pick up context clues. At the end, I was asked if I wanted to"open-box" or "in a bag." I could not hear this question. I said, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you." She repeated the question a bit more audibly. I've been to In-N-Out all of four times and never been asked this question, so I said "I'm sorry, I don't know what open-box means" She proceeded to give me a dissertation on the concept and spoke to me like I spat in her breakfast, making me feel like an idiot. I understand having bad days, but it could have been a one sentence response and without the condescending tone. Best of luck to the hard of hearing folk going through the drive thru. read more

TLDR: Excellent fast-food hamburger, worth a visit! I'm way overdue (as in pre-COVID days) for reviewing this InO. I'm a fan of the chain, and this is a very good location. Clean location, fast and friendly service. The main reason I can't give InO five stars is that their fries remain strangely shoe-stringy, and often the toppings overwhelm the burger itself. That said, the double burger with one slice of cheese, animal style, is my favorite. I recommend you try the 'Animal' Style, where they put a dollop of mustard on the grill and cook the beef patty in it. Delish! Again, highly recommend you try this outlet of InO, they do it right. This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. I have always preferred whataburger, but my brother in law is from California and swears by this place. I've eaten these burgers twice but didn't see the big fuss over them. I was told to order Animal style burger with out changing anything on it. So I ate the special sauce they have with lettuce tomato and onion. That's what comes on this burger. I can say it was a really good burger. I had said after my couple times of trying this place it wasn't for me, but I've found the burger for me. I have to say that this In-N-Out beats any In-N-Out I've had in California. The staff are nice, the service is quick, and the food is good. What else do you want from a fast food joint? Each time I have ordered from here, I get a double double with animal style fries. Granted, In-N-Out fries are not the best fries on the planet, a sloppy animal style fries with my nice and greasy burger is just how I like it. Somehow, every time I have been here the burgers have come out picture-perfect. It's too bad to see that not everyone has had that experience here, but speaking from my own trips to this specific location, I think about those burgers I've had here often. In-N-Out in general never fails to impress being one of the cleanest fast food restaurants out there, and having friendly staff that greet you as you walk up to the counter, unlike the disgruntled employees at other chains. And you can get a whole slice of grilled onion if you ask. It is a simple menu with only burgers and fries, so if you want sweet potato fries with honey and thyme, go elsewhere.
