First Watch -- Savory Wins, Sweet Still Searching…read more After completing a 3-peat, here's my conclusion: The savory items at this chain are my cup of tea. The coffee is bold and strong, and for the price, getting a full pot that keeps you going without needing refills is a great value. The drink selection looks limited at first, but they quietly offer some very tasty juices. The kale apple stands out for me -- not normally my thing, but it works. I think there are better places for pancakes. I think there are better places for French toast. That said, it's still worth trying them -- what's missing for me might shine through for you. Where First Watch really wins: * Bacon Egg & Cheese (artisanal level good) * Million Dollar Potatoes (upgrade every time) * Crispy regular bacon * Sausage breakfast plates * Thoughtfully built savory options These plates feel crafted, not just assembled. The atmosphere brings a modern diner / brunch vibe that fits perfectly with what people are looking for today. Bright, busy, and comfortable. Location tip: Try not to sit near the kitchen -- it gets loud with staff conversations. Service is mixed * Some staff members are excellent * Others feel more transactional If you're ordering eggs, go scrambled or omelette over over-easy. Mine were undercooked previously, and it's an easy fix. Good coffee Strong savory menu Modern brunch vibe Some inconsistency Sweet items not standout (for me) That still lands First Watch at 4 stars. And with the lack of strong brunch options nearby, this is currently top dog for me. Still searching for that great French toast and pancakes.

It was actually pretty full, but everybody looked like they were well taken care of and it wasn't very loud. It was a pretty nice environment. I ordered the trifecta with a side of cheesy grits. The pancake was huge! The bacon was really good and the grits were OK not my favorite and I ordered an individual mimosa which was really great because they gave you a little mini bottle of Prosecco. I'd go back.

Excellent Dining Experience at Pappas!…read more We had a wonderful dining experience at Pappas Restaurant in Glen Burnie! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we had the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and the crab pretzel--both were incredibly flavorful and a great way to start the meal. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Louisiana penne pasta with chicken and shrimp and the single crab cake dinner with coleslaw and broccoli. Everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned well, and full of flavor. The crab cake was especially delicious! A special shout-out to our server, Nila, who was excellent! She was very sweet, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and she made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. Great food, great service, great ambiance, and a great overall experience. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

I have to admit, G&M's crab cake was much tastier this visit, although I did find three large pieces of crab shell, which was disappointing. Pappas, on the other hand, still wins when it comes to sides and customer service. The Caesar salad, Santa Fe egg rolls, scallops, and loaded baked potato were absolutely superb. I even ordered an extra side of scallops to go! That said, for the price of their crab cakes, I was disappointed. They were very bland and had far too much filler. I'd strongly recommend revisiting the recipe because the rest of the meal was outstanding. In my experience, the Cockeysville location has consistently been better than the Glen Burnie location.
