The internet led us to Black Rose Cafe & Bakehouse. It sounded like the perfect place for us based on the menu & time of day. There was a variety of options to choose from, lunch, breakfast, bakery, soups.... Even tacos if we wanted. There were far too few parking places to be seen ANYWHERE around the strip mall! This made it hard for a quick walk in the rain. Nothing the restaurant could do about that... but was the start to our less than perfect experience. Once inside, there were several open tables and a sign reading 'please wait to be seated.' Some we waited -- only to be told 'you can sit anywhere you'd like.' So which is it, wait or seat yourself ‍? Our drink order was taken quickly and then the waitress practically hounded us (came back to the table 3 times in about 3 minutes) to take our order. I eventually said 'FINE, I'll just have scrambled egg-whites only, toast (with butter,) & bacon! I literally had the conversation with the waitress about whether the kitchen should put my butter on the toast or have her bring it to me at the table. I also asked for 'super EXTRA-CRISPY' bacon.... Like charcoal burnt, lol! When the plates were delivered the bacon was NOT cooked correctly, the eggs STILL had the yolks in them & weren't scrambled, and the toast had NO butter nor was it brought to the table. When Kaylee, the waitress, returned to the table we were NOT offered refills on our drinks or the option to purchase another (they came in cans) and when questioned about the butter her response was 'oh yeah, we ran outta butter.' How does a restaurant (a bakery, mind you) run out of butter? Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! Was NOT a good first impression! It is HIGHLY unlikely that we will ever return!

If ya wanna be bougie and critical, take your butt to a steakhouse. This place was perfect. I didn't use the bathrooms, but the inside was pretty clean. Everybody was super nice, and even one of the cooks asked me how my day was! That was super nice, because I always ask others but no one ever asks me! My only complaint, is that I LOVE lemon or lemon juice on my chicken and fish. They didn't have any here, but the nice lady that took my order gave me extra malt vinegar! I did an order on the app, and stopped at an adjacent store and went in to get my order. I had to wait a bit but it's not like I have an appointment with the president or something. Really, what's a big deal and having to wait a little bit? Why are people in such a rush to go nowhere? I ordered the fish and chicken platter. It was like 17 bucks or something, and I got mac and cheese for a side. The food was super fresh, came out super hot, and for the amount of food I got, I can eat on this for 2 or 3 days. I seriously don't mind when I place an order and it's not ready, when it comes out as fresh as it did. All the employees were super nice, and my food was super good, and I have leftovers tucked in my hotels refrigerator!! Beyond this restaurant's control, the app completely erased all of my rewards points because I haven't ordered in a few months, but it is what it is. Seriously people, cut restaurants like this some slack sometimes! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Good Friday lunch I…read morehad just filled up the rented compact sled and it was right around lunchtime. It was Good Friday and I had planned to continue on along I-75 south from the Metro Atlanta area, but, as I put the gas pump back, I saw a Dairy Queen staring me in the face. I know that, while not their main offering, they do have fish sandwiches. In fact, it seemed that they had both pollock and cod. The pollock was featured as part of a combo where you get the fish sandwich, fries, and a drink. I went in not knowing what to expect. Inside, the store was fairly clean and the employees taking the orders and cooking the food were pleasant. I sat down near the windows closer to the front of this decent sized store so I could eat, enjoy some natural light, and keep on eye on the car, which is probably a good idea when your luggage is in the trunk. The fish sanwich combo was fine ... I will say that pollock is not as tasty as cod, but it was filling and served its purpose. The fries were decent and a refillable soft drink is just that. I noted that they also offer other combinations, including a value combination that also features small DQ cone. I wasn't going to do that because I had planned to observe on this day ... in fact, on my printable calendar, I wrote down "NO FISH." I'm glad I ate at this Dairy Queen near McDonough, which is on the southern fringes of the Metro Atlanta area. I very much dislike the drive down to South Florida, which I've done no more than 5 times in my life, and I would only be doing half of it that day. I did not want to stop in South Georgia where, as you are flying along the interstate, there are the incongruous alternating billboards for evangelical Christian concerns and sex related video stores seemingly aimed at truckers. (You get three guesses as to the politics of the southern part of this state and the first two don't count.) I have no idea what some of the other reviewers are complaining about. Folks in front of me and behind me, some of whom were staying inside to eat, seemed to be in good spirits and enjoying what they had ordered. At this Dairy Queen adjacent to a bigger fueling station near McDonough, I got to fill up the car, fill up my stomach, save some money, fulfill my Good Friday obligation, and do it in the Metro Atlanta area, thus avoiding stopping and/or eating in the southern part of the Peach State.

It's probably been for five years since we ate a steak 'n Shake because it had gone downhill so bad. Well, I have to say I wasn't impressed again. We each ordered an original double cheese steak burger. I added mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and pickle to mine and remove the ketchup. There was a quarter sized dollop of mustard on my burger and a dime size dollop of mayonnaise. There was enough lettuce on my burger for two sandwiches. The meat itself was thin and overcooked making it dry out. We got ketchup out of the dispenser at the drink station and it turned out it was rancid making our onion rings and tater tots taste horrible. Luckily, after only two bites, I figured out what it was and went and got some packaged to catch up from the counter and told them that the ketchup in the dispenser was rancid. The manager just kind of shrugged and walked to the back of the store. We were there for another 10 minutes and nobody bothered to remove the ketchup from the dispenser. Overall, the dining room, every single table needed to be wiped off and the floor needed swept. The tables were worse than the floor. Needless to say service is a kiosk and then they yell your number when your order is ready so that's a no go. Food was mediocre. Ambience is like any other steak 'n Shake. We won't be back. Culver's and Freddy's have it going on all over steak 'n Shake.
