Quite possibly the worst burger I've ever had. It had absolutely no flavor to it at all. Also the garlic potato wedges were dry and super hard and the potatoes tasted old. The building itself just felt dirty as well and like it needed a deep clean. I definitely will not be returning. The Burger Shop is a small, no-frills type place located in a clean and well-kept but nondescript shopping plaza. The place is nothing fancy, but there is very little fancy about a burger. The girl taking my order was extremely friendly and outgoing. Thevprocess is you order at a counter and since I was dining in, I grabbed a seat. Within a short amount of time, they brought my burger and loaded potatoes to me. Both the burger and the loaded potatoes were fantastic. I mean, really excellent and a great example of how a simple burger can be elevated into a culinary wonder when done right. Also, when I checked in on Yelp, it gave me twenty percent off of my total order. The Burger Shop is a fantastic option for a burger and an establishment that I would definitely recommend. When we went in I must say that it certainly did smell really good. I was looking forward to trying this place out. I ended up ordering the 1/2 lb BB King Burger and my wife had the 1/4 lb Mushroom and Swiss burger. I then watched in horror as they pulled precooked patties out of a foil pan that was sitting out. I must say I was quite surprised when a place named the Burger Shop did not cook them fresh to order. I can maybe understand if they prepped for a rush hour but they were in no way busy. They did appear to put the toppings on and warmed them up to melt the cheese. My expectations were not great at this point but as I said, it did smell really good. I must say it was better than I thought it would be. The blue cheese, Bacon, and bbq sauce were vey tasty on it. The patty however was dry and overcooked. I think they have some good potential here but for the price they should do better. Staff was friendly but the place could definitely use some cleaning and just overall tidying up! Such a good stop for us! We were traveling from gulf shores heading home to St. Louis and we found this gem! It is a dive vibe burger shop... with burgers that are delicious! I got the srirachA slaw burger! With Tony's potato wedges. I ate every last bite. Cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I look forward to coming back on our yearly gulf shores trip. I ordered three meals. A bacon cheeseburger, dirty rancher with loaded potatoes, and a chicken quesadilla. They gave me plain potatoes, and skipped the quesadilla altogether. When I realized I had only two styrofoam containers in my car I went back and they said they never heard the quesadilla, even though they repeated the order over the phone. Bummer because I had to get back to work and didn't have time to reorder something they should have gotten the first time. (Nor did they offer to make one.) I was tooling around Hernando, MS with a friend who just moved there and we both were shot with hunger arrows at the same time. Neither one of us knew the area well, so we pulled out the Yelp app to see what was close by. We found The Burger Shop was close and headed that way. C'mon on! Any restaurant calling itself The Burger Shop better be throwing down burgers in the kitchen like somebody's Momma's cooking. I know, I know. There is a restaurant chain calling themselves "King" in the burger arena but I don't have a dog in that fight. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. We entered and were greeted in the most warmly Southern manner imaginable. Super nice proprietors. I immediately got the nostalgic feeling of the neighborhood mom and pop restaurants I use to patronize growing up in New England. The kind of place where you were on a first name basis with the proprietors or in my case I was known as Bill and Theresa's oldest boy. Several tables for dining in and a glass front soda pop cooler to the side. We chatted with the proprietors before sitting to peruse the menu. The menu was very intriguing, Many specialty burgers of course but some interesting items. Such as fried egg, sauteed green peppers and sauteed red onions as some toppings. Rotel mac and cheese, garlic potato wedges, loaded potato wdges or Tony seasoned wedges as sides. Turkey burger or turkey/spinach burger. Mahi Mahi or blackened Cajun shrimp po'boy. Cowbell, The Hotty Toddy and The Front Porch as sandwich names for examples.The food is cooked to order so we elected to stay and eat inside while waiting even though a nice covered outdoor seating area is available. I ordered the blackened Cajun shrimp po'boy and my friend ordered the Swiss mushroom burger and garlic potato wedges. The food was fantastic! Absolutely delicious! It was like going to a BBQ at Chef Gordon Ramsey's. Everything cooked fresh to order with good ingredients. It was a very personal dining experience. Not like going to a restaurant to eat experience. The food reminded me of a great picnic or country Summer holiday get together meal. I'm definitely going back. I have already envisioned the next experience. I like to take the dog to Sardis Dam and find a nice shaded spot to read and play music on my little Wonderboom speaker or listen to podcasts and watch people fish and look at waterfowl. (I HATE PINK MEAT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BURGER) This visit I had the Bacon Bacon Cheddar Burger with the seasoned potato wedges and my friend had the Sriracha Slaw burger with the garlic wedges. Both were delicious! Although she didn't like the wedges. I think they are an acquired taste. I love them! They do not have fountain drinks so they serve bottled drinks. This place is terrible!! The burgers are almost raw, even though you tell him you want them burnt... I've tried this place two times- two years apart.. and it's been the same way. Service is okay. I love coming here but I'm guilty of ordering the same thing constantly--the blackened Mahi sandwich. It's great that I can get takeout and stick to my diet and this fish sandwich is delicious. Really liked my Big Burger with Pepper Jack, romaine, tomato, red onion, and pickles. Very tasty. I like that I could season with mayo and mustard myself. I needed to pick up the burger inside the paper provided to prevent the burger dripping onto my hands. Hubby had bacon burger with really thick bacon and the bacon was well cooked! Each table has its own hand sanitizer, mustard, mayo, ketchup, and roll of paper towels. We'll come again when we're in the area. Service was good and fast. Placing an order at this place is bananas. You are FORCED to use BiteSquad and you have the option to order "Pick-Up" or "Delivery". Try to call...no answer. Have to call multiple times to even get the staff to pick up. Placed an order through THEIR chosen app and THEY canceled the order. THEY were nice enough to not tell me until I came to pick up the order an HOUR later and the bonus?? The charge will fall off my account in 3-5 days. Every single time I have ordered whether it be pick-up, delivery, or call in (if I'm lucky enough to get through) it has been wrong anyway. Missing side items, missing drinks, no gravy on hamburger steak, no cheese on burger when I clearly added and paid for it are just a few past order bloopers. Was told to go here by my now ex friend.. Tonight was the first and last time to visit this establishment. Ordered the 1/2 lb chili burger and 2 jr regular burgers at the cost of 17.12. What I got was 3 very dry, non seasoned, almost burnt hamburgers. Nothing that was asked if I wanted on them was put on them...no mustard, ketchup...NOTHING. Interior a little junky and dirty with strong smell of grill smoke, not the best ventilation. Bottled drinks out of a cooler is a turnoff to me - rarely cold enough for my tastes. I had a Mahi sandwich which was nicely baked and not too dry, but drowning in pico and slaw. By 'drowning', I mean that after I scraped the majority of it off, the pile of pico/Slaw was as large as the remaining sandwich. Literally a cereal bowl full of it. Garlic potato wedges that I could taste no garlic on and basically had no taste outside of 'charred'. My ticket was $19 for a sandwich, side, drink and tip. Ridiculously overpriced. Not a great stop.
