This is the quintessential burger joint. It's conveniently placed in a strip mall, but once you enter it's like being transported back 50+ years. The menu is basic; burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, milk shakes, etc... but they do have numerous variations based on what you're in the mood for. I went with the Six Alarm Burger and my wife went with a BBQ Chicken sandwich and we split an order of chili cheese fries. Everything was cooked right there, per order, on the spot and nothing was too greasy. The toppings were all fresh and the burgers were a decent size. This is the place to go when you're in the mood for a good burger. The food is good, the service is fast and the atmosphere is relaxed. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to. read more

I have been here several times and always had a freshly cooked burger and fries. Very tasty food with a nice seating area. I guess a burger, fries and soda costs about $10. I have been to this (Matawan) location as well as the Bound Brook one and they both seemed pretty equal in comparison quality wise. The place itself decor wise is like a 5 Guys + old style diner from the 50s/60s but I came for the burgers not the looks. The selection is nice there really should be something to suit everyone's taste on the menu so that isn't a big deal. What I have found though is that it's the toppings and type of burger thats making the burger and not the burger patties themselves. The meat patty is pretty bland taste wise so it's relying heavily on the toppings etc to complete its taste. The sweet potato fries had a good taste but were kinda soggy, the onion rings were pretty good, and the mozzerella sticks we're nothing to get too excited about. I also have tried several hot dogs on the menu and while the dogs themselves had a nice snap to them the buns they were served on each time left a lot to be desired... but hey it's a burger place right not 25 dogs. All in all come here if you want a different kind of burger, a speciality one, just a little something extra flavor profile wise but still calming your burger craving. Do not come here for a basic well seasoned burger and only get lettuce, tomato, onion, lettuce... in my opinion anyway. read more

Been here twice, and love the variety of burgers. Loved the gyro burger and also tried the turkey bacon cheeseburger which was good. Look forward to going back and trying the pork burgers they have. Service is okay, when I went in the evening the service was a bit better that when I went for lunch. But this place is worth a visit, milk shakes and fries are good as well. The burgers are okay - nothing special. For some reason the buns are always soggy, and falling apart.... I've asked them to toast them before, that seems to help a little. There are plenty of choices, and the bullseye barbecue burger is our fave. read more

Hubby and I decided to hit 25 Burgers for a late lunch today. I had the Bullseye BBQ burger and hubby had the bacon cheeseburger. We split an order of fries and chocolate shake. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! Both burgers were big and juicy and they didn't skimp on the toppings! The rolls were even delicious!! This burger place opened up in Matawan in a small strip mall. I love burgers so I was checking this place no matter what. It has an old school diner type feel inside. Lots of red black and white accents. When you walk in you get in line to place your order. While you're waiting you get a chance to check out the menu which is up on the wall. Definitely a nice variety of burgers on the menu to the point that I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. I went with a Hawaiian burger which came with ham and pineapple on it. After you order and pay they give you a buzzer that you take with you. When your order is ready it lights up and vibrates. The burger was very good. I was impressed with the bread. So, I thought that I found a place for a good veggie burger but the wait is entirely too long. Ordered my food twenty minutes in advance, get there and the order is wrong and had to wait an additional 20 minutes for it to be made correctly. The manager was apologetic. However, what really turned me off was the unsanitary employee. While waiting for my order to be remade I watched the young girl who was handling money at the cash register, open the wrapping on a order with her bare hands, lifted the bun to check what was on the burger and then proceeded to re wrap the sandwich and placed it back in the bag. There was nothing special about this place. There was plenty to choose from on the menu, but they don't ask you to specify how you want your burger cooked. I just ordered a classic cheeseburger with grilled onions. It fell apart & was just blah. Their french fries were battered & seasoned, similar to Checkers fries. I didn't like them at all. I've been here twice and wasn't pleased at all. The first time I had the burger with pulled pork and the pork tasted old, cold and just bland. So I ended up taking it off. Loved the burger shop! My dad order the cajun chicken burger that was delicious! It was blackened chicken with carmelized onions and spicy mayo! I wasn't expecting it to be that good since it wss a burger place, but they nailed it! I got the classic cheeseburger that was on point! I also got a hot dog that was also delicious! I wanted to like this place. But there was little to like. From the depressed counter people, to the worst bun I've ever tasted, dry burger, rancid cheese and enough gravy master in the disco fries gravy to cause a salt coma. On a bright note, the tomato slices were excellent! It was a very lackluster experience. I love supporting local businesses but this one needs to care - about the food. My first review was for "25 Burgers". They changed to "The Burger Shop" in Spring 2015 and since then, the burgers are a little less cooked, a little less hot, and they seem to have more trouble getting orders correct, even though you see the order being entered correctly on the register in front of you. Is that the price you pay for 30 burgers....or new management? They say they deliver, but with incorrect order problems, I won't take that chance. I've had their onion rings before and remember having more than enough to share with my boyfriend this time however I paid $4.00 for a total of 5 onion rings and when I asked out of curiosity if 5 was in fact in order I was told they were weighed out.. Great burgers, I'm addicted to the turkey Burger, the bacon they use is thick cut and crispy, Not like most places that give you paper thing rubbery slices of bacon. The rolls are baked on site so they are never mushy or stale. I love the sweet potato fries as well. Onion rings are OK, and the shakes are great. My daughter had the crispy chicken sandwich and it was really good, they used a huge chicken cutlet. The place is bright and clean and they play music you might have heard in a burger place in the 50's. All the staff I have encountered have been very helpful and courteous. "The Burger Shoppe" (formerly "25 Burgers") is a great place for dinner or lunch. I often swing by with my friends for dinner. I can't recall the exact name of it but I get a BBQ bacon burger. It is very good although very greasy, but its a burger joint so you can't complain. Its annoying that it doesn't come with fries since so many other burger places do that by default. The burger was priced ok, a little on the expensive side, but I don't mind since the taste is on par with the price. You are not paying for McDonald's quality here. The interior of the restaurant is 1950s themed, vinyl booth seats, 50s and 60s music, and fake autographed photos of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and more. Overall I think that this place is great and would recommend a stop if you are in the Matawan-Aberdeen area. read more
