I apologize, I'm very behind on my reviews. We were doing some shopping and I made a decision to stop in here, something just made me think that it would be a good experience. I wasn't wrong. I don't remember it being this good the last time I was here. They definitely upped their game. We both had food off the specials menu, I ordered the Peach Cakes It was grilled peaches with a sort of whipped cream buttercream hybrid and brown sugar on top of pretty good pancakes. My wife had this Greek omelette with kasseri cheese, tasted amazing, the cheese had a lovely texture. They gave me a little pot of coffee it was excellent. They were also selling delicious looking gluten-free brownies and chocolate chip cookies at the register for anybody that's interested in that sort of thing. Overall excellent experience. Stopped in one way home. I had the soup it was ok nothing crazy and a chicken sandwich. I was good I would say great but good. Marlboro diner has been very good both times we have went. The first time our waitress was not very attentive and disappeared for a long time so I couldn't get a refill of my water but the second time was issue free and the waitress was on top of her game. The food has been consistently good. The croissant French toast special with the peach sauce was amazing and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet breakfast. The paninis are also very good. The inside is also clean and typical diner style inside which is what you want when going to a diner. Didn't feel welcomed at all. Full disclosure when we first arrived my 2-year old grandson was having a meltdown & the staff didn't seem sympathetic at all just bothered. He settled within 3 min or less. The food was sub par. The Kaiser roll wasn't fresh or just poorly made it was weak & the top of my breakfast sandwich split. Then they used cheese whiz, YUCK! They put tomatoes on my daughter's sandwich when asked not to do so. Waitress was nice but not attentive enough. We spilled a glass of water. I went to the front counter & asked for a towel & the hostess gave me a dirty, wet RAG that had already been used too much to still be out front. YUCK again! I went back & asked for a dry towel, you would think at this point I wouldn't still be doing their job & they would gotten my waitress, but nope. She said she didn't have a towel but here is a roll of paper towels. I guess she didn't realize she could get a towel from the cashier like I had seen a waitress do earlier. Stood out because I NEVER seen towels rationed in a restaurant previously. I do not recommend this restaurant for anyone to spend their money. I usually go to NJ Diner not far from this diner but decided I would just go to this one since it was only a mile away. I'll be sure to stick with the NJ Diner where the ENTIRE staff from owner to table busters are caring & the food is DELISH with larger portions. So worth the drive to Marlboro NJ! My daughter has celiacs disease and mentioned the extensive menu with gluten free options! We arrived on a Sunday morning and were immediately greeted and seated by a nice man at front of restaurant. Our waitress was Joanne (Jo-Jo) who was extremely attentive and just so very sweet. First time visiting the Marlboro diner. The place was hopping, crowded, and very loud. I had never been to a diner so loud, and I've been to a lot diners in Jersey. Our party of three ordered a Cuban panini, not your real Cuban panini. Cuban sandwiches are ham, pork, pickles and mustard, the sandwich is very thin and pressed flat and crunchy. This Cuban panini was thick and the pork was a half an inch or more. It was the thickness of a boneless pork chop. The pork in a Cuban panini is cut thinly. The sandwich also came with French fries and coleslaw. You got your moneys worth with this sandwich but not a Cuban panini. Second order was a salad with double scoops of tuna salad and I was told it was very good. The picture does not give it justice as the tuna salad was spread out before the picture was taken. Third order was an egg salad sandwich on white toast with lettuce and tomato. It came with coleslaw and fries, I opted for sweet potato fries. The sandwich and fries were delicious. read more

I've been here a few times over the years and have never had a bad meal. The parking lot is usually full and for a good reason. The food is amazing! The restaurant was pretty packed but the servers were always quick and attentive. I ordered the hashbrown skillet this time around. Everything was nice and hot. Eggs cooked perfectly. Definitely satisfied my breakfast craving. The waiters are also pretty accomodating. I have always passed by this sweet diner and never had chance to step in. Today I made my fate to meet her! Semi-contemporary store front and the lobby area, sort of giving customers the family and youth friendly ambiance. Nancy was taking care of our order and making sure we have our first time experience with her diner was wonderful! I've loved diner, especially Jersey's diners, since I first came to this country 30+ years ago. We were fortunate that we came to have our brunch early so we got great window seating facing storefront with wonderful sunlight. There were more and more groups came in to the diner towards end of our meal and they had to wait at the foyer which was also a very attentive and welcoming space with seatings. We took a little more time to decide what we wanted to order, but Nancy was really patient and making sure my coffee was always full! Thanks, Nancy! (That did make my head more clear and was able to make decisions soon!) We ordered regular sandwiches with yam fries on the side, kasseri breakfast flatbread with hash browns, and a Belgian waffles. My Kasseri Pita bread with egg softly cooked and Swiss cheese inside was delicious. And the hash browns pan fried with less salt I consider it healthier choice. And the regular Belgian waffles might look plain, but I had it hot with butter and warm syrup; and it tasted really good. The picture just didn't do my waffles justice! It tasted better than the picture presented :D The sound, the smell, the atmosphere and the total experience made me wanted to stay a little bit longer after my meal; maybe another round of coffee, maybe just for the diner sofa and the sunny lighting... ahh what a therapeutical moment! I went with my two teenage/twenty something kids last night (5/14). Service was excellent and courteous as when the restaurant was hot they turned on the air and made it more comfortable immediately. My teen ordered the chicken fingers and French fries. I ordered the Marlboro Panini (shaved rib eye, peppers and onions with American cheese) and onion rings while my twenty something ordered red snapper chimichurri with roasted potatoes. My initial thought was "Who orders a real entree from a diner?! Burgers, sandwiches and breakfast are much safer things. Well lo and behold the food arrived and the snapper dish blew my doors off. Upon sampling it the skin was well browned and crisp, fish was tender, moist and flavorful. It takes a lot to get me jazzed about roasted potatoes but they nailed it. Beautifully roasted, well seasoned with a nice moist/crispy balance. My panini was simply excellent. No ketchup needed to dip into as it was very flavorful on its own. The onion rings weren't beer battered (breaded...not my thing) but they were crisp and not greasy. The chicken fingers and fries? Well....were fingers and fries. Hard to mess that up. Overall $65 for the three of us before tip. I think this diner crushes the one down the road in the next town over. We will definitely be returning. read more

When I first approached the Marlboro diner, I didn't know what to expect. The diner is located at 143 US-9, so the diner was really easy to notice since it was right off the highway. On the outside, the parking lot was jam-packed, but I managed to find a spot in the back. I went on Monday, March 17th at around 6:00pm, during the dinner rush. I'd expected the place to be empty, since it was a Monday, but I was greeted with a very loud atmosphere. It was clear that the diner was always busy. Upon entering, I was seated immediately by the host which was very surprising, given the environment. A staff member at the front desk quickly found us a nice table by the windows. Inside the diner, there were a lot of vintage posters, and I felt a strange sense of nostalgia for a time where I wasn't born yet. The diner didn't lean too much into the vintage aesthetic, as the benches and tables were modern. The lightning was also gentle, so it felt pretty calming inside. That being said, the other patrons inside were very loud. The tables were very clean, and I could also see staff members working quickly to prepare the tables for the next customers. The waitress greeted us immediately, and asked us for our orders. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich combo, which included coleslaw, a pickle, and fries. The chicken sandwich was listed under their "specialty sandwiches", so I was happy to try their best food. I also ordered sweetened iced tea and a bowl of chicken noodle soup. The food came out in less than 10 minutes, so I wasn't hungry for very long. I noticed that the fries were seasoned properly, and very crunchy. I appreciated the fact that the fries weren't overly salted. The sweet tea was very refreshing, and I drank all of it quickly. The waitress noticed and quickly refilled my drinks for free. They also came back and checked to make sure the food was to our liking. The chicken sandwich was a little bit dry, but also very easy to digest. The chicken soup was great, and I really appreciated the fact that they didn't add too much salt. They can also cater to specific requests. For example, if you would like a gluten-free option, they offer gluten-free wraps. The total cost for the sandwich, tea, and soup was 22 dollars. If it weren't for the limits of my stomach, I could probably eat here forever! Overall a pretty great experience, and would definitely recommend coming back in the future. read more

Update- got a nasty and threatening letter from someone because of my review here. Must be from an angry worker or owner. We came here right after getting back from the West Coast. After seeing this place being advertised heavily on social media, I've been wanting to come back here and eat. Let's just say I regretted it. We got here close to 5 pm and the place was relatively empty. The host took us to the back of the restaurant, which I didn't understand why because there were a lot of empty tables at the front. Maybe, all the tables at the front didn't have anyone waiting on them. I don't understand, but whatever. We got seated near the server's station where our server and her coworkers stood there the whole time gossiping. We placed our orders. Daughter and I shared the Shrimp Francaise with french onion soup and salad. It tasted ok. Hubs red the linguini clam sauce with matzoh ball soup and he thought it was ok. He also got coffee and never got refilled. The server was not around for us to ask for a refill. You'd figure that with the restaurant being practically empty, we would get better service sitting next to the server's station but she wasn't around. We got served our soups and salads and then there was a lull. When the server eventually came back, I asked if she can please have daughter's order served because her blood sugar was running low. She said yes but we had to wait for 15-20 mins more before it came. Thank goodness, I ordered a coke for her! As I said, service was not good that evening, especially when I asked if she can speed up our entrees because of daughter's type one diabetes and she didn't step up. I was sad when they were gone. lol. eggs cooked perfectly. The home fries were decent, could use. little work but they were crispy, just needed a little more flavor. My friend ordered eggs and bacon,sporadic on being cooked some were crispy, some were soggy. But all in al a decent breakfast. Their brunch menu looked really tasty, with a new spin on old classic breakfast. They also have skillets which I was thinking about but opted for something simple. definitely worth a check in if you're flying down rt. 9. I'll be back to try their lunch n dinner specials. Terrible female manager(?) as she ignores ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) laws. I went there with my Service Dog, as I have many times before. Management never had a problem with this, as the dog is extremely well mannered, and legally allowed in restaurants. This woman harassed me too no end, and asked questions which were ILLEGAL for her to ask. She did not let up the entire time that I was there...I couldn't eat my food because she kept harassing me....I will be reporting her to ADA.
