Great lunch here today! We stopped here last minute and so glad we did! The Burger Shop has expanded into where The Lemon Tree used to be and there is a lot more seating. Our burgers were on the small side, which is perfect for us, and we got them wrapped in Bok Choy. Very juicy and very good. Fries are delicious and the small side is huge! We will definitely be back and might try the fish next time. Lots of street parking and really nice place to stop and grab a meal. read more

My friend and I tried the Burger Shop on a whim. It feels like an old school cafeteria that's been around a while. I like that they have fresh lemonade and orangeade. Sure they cost a little more, but it's nice to have. One thing that did bug me is the cooks did not use gloves. I really hope they wash their hands regularly. Anyway, I ordered a double cheeseburger and I like that they let you add just about any toppings you want. They did come on ordinary Wonder rolls, so that could have been a little better. But the meat was really juicy, the toppings were quite fresh. We didn't get fries or rings, so I can't comment on the sides. read more

I cannot express how good this place is. I got dinner for 6 people and worked out to about $10 per person which is so reasonable. The employees were great and the business is in an old building downtown but the place felt clean and had a good vibe. And the food itself was so good, the orangeade, was delicious(!!!) and the burger was juicy, and we got the seasoned fries if my memory serves and they were perfect! Literally no complaints. read more

I went to the burger shop yesterday afternoon (1/31/26) with a friend. The food was fine but after I sat down In the dining room I could see into the kitchen and there was an employee acting extremely unprofessional. Tall white kid, brown hair, I believe he was the cook. He had his phone out on the counter and was on it multiple times. Once or twice I watched him hit the other employees with his apron (rude and gross..) and overall he was just being loud and vulgar. I'm sure I'm not the only one who heard it but from what I can tell he seems pretty rude. read more

A fantastic burger that hit all the right notes. The beef was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the cheese and sauce complemented it so well. The bun was lightly toasted, which added a nice touch. The service was friendly, and the food came out fast. read more

Love their food!!! Everything is made fresh, cooked to order, even hand cut fries! And they also have a salad bar, sandwiches and homemade soup - at least one vegan soup every day too! The Burger Shop is in downtown Wake Forest. With COVID, you cannot order inside but an employee will come outside masked and you can order there. There are cups for clean and dirty pens. Curbside service is available as well. You can get your food to go or eat in a shared dining room with the Lemon Tree. They do have some tables for outside dining too. The burgers are made to order and I got a cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce but there are plenty of toppings to pick from. I also ordered fries and the portion size was huge. The fries are hand cut. I forgot to get the photo before I started eating. I liked that after I ordered my food that it was delivered to the dining area and included ketchup packets for the fries and plenty of napkins. read more

I was expecting so much more from this place. The dining area is loud, and the order area a bit cramped, especially if a few people are there, but these things can be easily overlooked. The prices listed on Yelp! are apparently outdated, so for over $6 (with tax), you get a 1/4-lb burger. Period. Add $3 more for fries and $2.50 more for a drink. A bit on the pricey side, but if the meal is great, that can be worth it. Unfortunately, the 1/4-lb burger tasted just like the skillet-fried ones that I make at home using ground chuck. They got the crispiness done well on the outside, but aside from that, nothing special. It took them 15 minutes to get it out to the table, which seems like a long time (I can cook a burger well in less than half the time). As for the fries, they came out hot, but soggy, greasy, and a bit over-salted. In summary, a decent burger joint, but certainly not something I'd crave. read more

I had been wanting try the Burger Shop since smelling the wonderful smell of sautéed onions and searing hamburgers wafting out of the building during a ghost tour. It took me way too long. We were downtown for Friday Night on White and this place offered a great refuge to sit and eat. We were pleasantly surprised by how good they are. We now will drive into downtown just to get burgers, fries, and sometime a fresh orange-aid. Everything is so fresh and they have these amazing skinny cut natural steak fries perfectly cooked. read more

Dropping in for lunch on a Saturday, plenty of parking in downtown Wake Forest. Well - agree with all the other reviews 1. lemonade - one of the best we've had - not super sweet , but not too tart to kill your teeth. so yummy and we get to watch the girl make them 2. Burgers sizes were not huge, but definitely not small. I guess it is too good, I could down another one after a double cheeseburger (just be on diet later on). Juicy burger and the toppings were great. 3. Fries - oh, that was the best part - pretty thinly cut - but not as thin as those shoestring ones, so it has very good texture, and they fry them super crispy. prices are very reasonable. definitely will be back for more whenever we have the burger cravings. read more

We love this place. We live within a mile and walk here for lunch or dinner regularly. The burgers are great; juicy and well seasoned while developing that flat top grilled crispness on the outside. Many toppings to choose from but they don't nickel and dime you for customizing your burger your way. The whole thing is in an old brick building that reminds me of an old mill or textile factory. The old wood floors and exposed brick walls give it a really cool aesthetic. Also, the fries are the best around. Do your self a favor and try them out. read more

Stopped here for lunch with a coworker, service was friendly and great speed for lunch. Plenty of indoor outdoor seating. The French fries are a big portion. 1 order is enough to share. Burgers were cooked fresh to order and very juicy and flavorful. Owner stopped by and was warm and friendly, the business joining has a salad bar which you can add to your burger order since the businesses are owned by the same lady. Great spot read more

Good simple food. Burgers (hence the name) fries and surprisingly good cheesesteaks are my recommendations. IMO this is the sweet spot for hamburgers - less pretentious that gourmet restaurant burgers and waaay better than fast food. read more

A great burger shop that is located in downtown Wake Forest on White Street, The Burger Shop makes a delicious burger cooked to order. The fries are great too. It is close to White Street Brewery as well, less than a block away. My burger was cooked perfect and I will definitely come back. The prices are reasonable for a more or less home made burger too! I paired it with a side salad and blue cheese dressing, plus an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. My wife ordered The Barrel, their Philly cheesesteak, with a side of sweet potato fries. We also shared an order of house-made potato skins. It was far too much food, in a good way, and we took plenty home. Service was outstanding and truly a team effort. One moment stood out: when my wife hesitated to ask for sour cream for the potato skins, our server immediately said, "It's just 15 steps, let me get it for you." That small gesture made a big difference. The rest of the team was equally warm, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance works perfectly for us, lively, busy, and welcoming without feeling chaotic. I would be confident ordering virtually anything from the menu. We'll keep coming back.

The team that works here is friendly and there are no issues with it, but my issues are more with the franchise of five guys, not the person who is running this one. I know that the corporate five guys are hosing whoever has the franchise causing these high prices because they force you to buy their overpriced stuff. So is it a good burger? sure. Are the fries good? yes. But $45 for a dad and a daughter they're not THAT good.

The sports bar is divided into two sections: a dining room with tables and booths, and a bar with high-top seating. The restaurant was fairly quiet until the karaoke was about to start. Then it seemed like you needed to scream to hear a conversation. They also have trivia nights, so that likely isn't as loud. I ordered the Wagyu Burger, and it was cooked to order and delicious. The mashed potatoes for the side were lukewarm and rather dry and bland. The way they were presented at the table made it seem as if they were meant to go with something, like butter or gravy. I would not recommend the mashed potatoes, but the burger was delicious. The sweet potato fries, another had as a side, looked good, as did a salad. Service seemed good at first with the drink and food orders. But once the food was brought out, I don't think we saw the waitress again until it was time for the checks. A bill with a credit card for another guest at a different table was even brought out with the processed checks. So make sure you get the correct credit card back.
