I forgot, I got onion rings and they were so good!!
Amber M.

I cannot express how good this place is. I got dinner for 6 people and worked out to about $10 per person which is so reasonable. The employees were great and the business is in an old building downtown but the place felt clean and had a good vibe. And the food itself was so good, the orangeade, was delicious(!!!) and the burger was juicy, and we got the seasoned fries if my memory serves and they were perfect! Literally no complaints.

A fantastic burger that hit all the right notes. The beef was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the cheese and sauce complemented it so well. The bun was lightly toasted, which added a nice touch. The service was friendly, and the food came out fast.

Perfect for a quick meal! Hot dog was flavorful and well-cooked. A little more sauce would be nice. A solid 4-star experience!

ordering door and curbside pickup

The Burger Shop is in downtown Wake Forest. With COVID, you cannot order inside but an employee will come outside masked and you can order there. There are cups for clean and dirty pens. Curbside service is available as well. You can get your food to go or eat in a shared dining room with the Lemon Tree. They do have some tables for outside dining too. The burgers are made to order and I got a cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce but there are plenty of toppings to pick from. I also ordered fries and the portion size was huge. The fries are hand cut. I forgot to get the photo before I started eating. I liked that after I ordered my food that it was delivered to the dining area and included ketchup packets for the fries and plenty of napkins.

Great burgers and fries. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday lunch. The food came out fast, warm and delicious. I will definitely be back.

I was expecting so much more from this place. The dining area is loud, and the order area a bit cramped, especially if a few people are there, but these things can be easily overlooked. The prices listed on Yelp! are apparently outdated, so for over $6 (with tax), you get a 1/4-lb burger. Period. Add $3 more for fries and $2.50 more for a drink. A bit on the pricey side, but if the meal is great, that can be worth it. Unfortunately, the 1/4-lb burger tasted just like the skillet-fried ones that I make at home using ground chuck. They got the crispiness done well on the outside, but aside from that, nothing special. It took them 15 minutes to get it out to the table, which seems like a long time (I can cook a burger well in less than half the time). As for the fries, they came out hot, but soggy, greasy, and a bit over-salted. In summary, a decent burger joint, but certainly not something I'd crave.

Delicious! Counter service. Cute historic area. We've eaten here twice while in Wake Forest.

Great burger decent fries. Will probably come back. Char Grill is probably their biggest competitor. I would say they are a close tie.

Although the food was tasty, the prices are insane. I can get the same burger elsewhere for half the price.

We have been here twice in the past two weeks to say our goodbyes to friends as we are moving out of state. We will truly miss Norse Brewery. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order. Our favorite dish is, of course, the Viking Burger paired with duck fat fries and the Frikadellar to share. The Mango Hefeweizen and mango margaritas are delicious drinks as well. Whether you sit inside or out, you will feel cozy and relaxed while you eat delicious food!

The Norwegian-inspired menu is full of hearty and flavorful items. Our opener of Loaded Beer-Cheese Tots paired with a couple of co-owner/Brewmaster Brad Wynn's brewed on-site beers was heavenly. You MUST sample several of his creations, and take a moment to see the incredible brewery that is a huge part of the experience - his wife Lynn gave us a quick and amazing tour of the brewery, see pics. I had the Viking Burger, a carnivorian delight made from elk, bison, boar and wagyu meats and a half Norwegian salad that had us swooning with pleasure - a full salad would be a satisfying main vegetarian entree. Paul's Wisconsin Brat was so good, gonna hafta to have that during our next visit. The award-winning structure is a joy - 2 levels, dog-welcoming al fresco dining available front and back - and the downstairs bar where regular events occur - just amazing! Regular events include Thursday Night Trivia, as well as stand-up comedy and murder mystery nights. An ongoing calendar of events that are easy on the pocket, making a full night of food and fun for all. Check their website - wakeforest.norsebrewingco.com - for all the details. Another downtown Wake Forest must for locals and travelers alike - Paul and I will be regulars, I can tell you that! Check it out some weeknight, you'll be glad you did‼

I found this place on Yelp and had to give it a try. Tiny place with almost no seating to eat in…read morebut we took it to go. The staff are all amazing... super helpful explaining the menu and favorite options highlighted. The food was amazing. I highly recommend everything we had. It was my first experience having collard greens so I have nothing to compare them to but WOW they were delicious. The corn bread was over the top yummy too. We had sausage and rib tips too. We will definitely be back. Yummy and again the staff/owner were delightful.

Once again, I am always willing to give restaurants a chance to prove me wrong... and once again,…read morethey have failed. My motto is simple: if you can't see the smoker and smell the smoke, the BBQ is going to be bad. This place is no different. My family ordered the pork belly burnt ends, pork ribs, chicken Philly, and smoked mac and cheese. Let's start easy--the mac and cheese. My grandparents used more salt and pepper in their mac and cheese than this place did. The only ingredients seemed to be noodles and cheese. What happened to flavor? Spices? Maybe some paprika, cayenne pepper... jeez, something. However, as a bit of a warning sign, the mac and cheese had more wood smoke flavor than anything else they served. Next, the ribs. Some people believe in the 3-2-1 method--I'm not a fan, but it can work. These people must believe in the 1-2-3 method: 1 hour smoked on a Traeger, 2 hours wrapped, and 3 hours cooked on high heat in the oven uncovered. That's the only way I can figure out how you end up with jerky-dry ribs. Not only were they dry, they didn't have any flavor. The chicken Philly was dry--my wife hated it. The pork belly burnt ends actually looked great--nice cube size, good presentation--but biting into them was a different story. Chewy, bland, and dry. I honestly don't know how you manage to do that with pork belly. Really disappointing experience overall.

The sports bar is divided into two sections: a dining room with tables and booths, and a bar with high-top seating. The restaurant was fairly quiet until the karaoke was about to start. Then it seemed like you needed to scream to hear a conversation. They also have trivia nights, so that likely isn't as loud. I ordered the Wagyu Burger, and it was cooked to order and delicious. The mashed potatoes for the side were lukewarm and rather dry and bland. The way they were presented at the table made it seem as if they were meant to go with something, like butter or gravy. I would not recommend the mashed potatoes, but the burger was delicious. The sweet potato fries, another had as a side, looked good, as did a salad. Service seemed good at first with the drink and food orders. But once the food was brought out, I don't think we saw the waitress again until it was time for the checks. A bill with a credit card for another guest at a different table was even brought out with the processed checks. So make sure you get the correct credit card back.
