Burgers done right just like you ask them!! I've been to several places that say they will cook a medium rare burger only to be served a hockey puck. The Burger Shop was spot on with what they offered me. Flavors are top notch and YES....add the pimento cheese!! The fries....can't get enough. I have certainly had a lot of burgers in my day. But the Burger Shop is definitely one of the top three burgers I've ever had in my life. It's a very small quaint old fashioned burger shop in the historic district of Wake Forest. There's very limited seating and a very limited menu. They basically do burgers, dogs, onion rings, fries, and shakes - but man, oh man! The burger was so good you could tell it was freshly prepared and you can get a variety of unlimited toppings at no additional charge. Speaking of which, the prices are crazy low! The fries were out of bounds. Hand cut fries are my favorite. Perfectly salted, perfectly hot and the right amount of crispy! The big surprise was the hand-squeezed orangeade. Mind. Blown. It's literally one of the most sinful things I've ever ingested. If God had known about this place, he would have made the 11th Commandment "thou shall not drink orangeade from The Burger Shop"! This place continues to serve the best burger and French fries in Wake Forest and probably the entire Raleigh area! They don't have fancy gourmet burgers but just basic single or double burgers and you add your toppings ( including onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, chili, Texas Pete, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mayo, mustard) and cheese (American, Cheddar, Swiss, Bleu). The chicken tenders are great as well! They use Lumpy's ice cream for their milkshakes, so you can't go wrong there! Staff is always friendly and attentive and they know their regulars by name! They also serve steak sandwiches, hot dogs, grilled cheese, grilled chicken sandwiches) and other items. They also make their own lemonade and orangeade... Both of which are great! read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The menu setup reminds me of Five Guys. There are no "meal/combo prices", everything is individually priced. You are able to pick your cheese and toppings. The double cheeseburger was juicy, well seasoned, and delicious. I'm generally pleased with a place when I can get sautéed mushrooms and onions. I also had a small fry. It was a cup full that overflowed into the bag. Flavorful, home made, and enough to share. My only complaint was not being able to have a sweet tea to wash it down. The brewed tea was too acidic (as though the tea bags steeped too long). However, the staff was very responsive to my facial reaction after tasting the tea. One of the young ladies immediately asked what was wrong. I explained the taste, she tasted it, and said she'd make some more. She immediately started emptying the container and placed a sign saying tea was being made. The double cheeseburger, small fry, and small drink (refills available) was $16 and some change. It's a cute little "hole in the wall" type place. If you're in the area and looking for a good, fresh, homemade burger and fries, this is the spot that I would absolutely recommend. read more

My order came out relatively quickly and food was hot, but in a white paper bag? I'm looking around and see other folks had a tray type situation. Nonetheless, I made due.. The food: - bacon cheeseburger had no true flavor.. the ingredients seemed fresh and so did the meat, just didn't have any flavor to it. The bacon was cooked well and a decent amount was given. - hand-cut fries I wasn't a fan of.. I appreciated the size (thin cut), but again.. nothing special and after reading previous reviews l looked forward to them. First time here and we were excited to find somewhere local and family owned with good reviews. Situated downtown in a somewhat quaint setting, we were prepared to be wowed. Not so fast. The burgers were on the small side and very ordinary. The hamburger roll was small, not very fresh and was clearly purchased on the cheap. The small order of fries was quite large but shoestring. It has been a long time since I have received shoestring fries anywhere. Not our favorite. We also found our meals to be very over-priced. Two burgers, two small fries and two milk shakes cost 35.00. That would be money much better spent somewhere else. It is counter service for ordering your food, so not a good set-up at all if there is any kind of traffic, making the wait to order food small and cramped. We won't be back! read more

Old school kind of shop with counter service. They do good burgers! I get mine California style with lettuce, tomato, cheese, grilled onions, pickles, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. They make them when you order so always hot and fresh off the grill. Nicely carmelized outside and juicy in the center. Great people here too, always friendly. read more
