I am a bit of a creature of habit when I order food. I have eaten at this Wayback Burger location enough that I have maxed out the reward points as well. What this tells me is I really like the food and consistency! It sounds like I eat here a lot, and to be fair, it's probably a few times a month. I have not had one order be inaccurate or anything other than the quality the first time I tried Wayback Burgers. The food is always fresh, hot, and ready to go each and every time. The value is very reasonable and comparable to all the other local options as well. I typically get a custom-made burger with either fries or tater tots. I have also tried their hot dog, which is pretty good as well. Both order options fill me up. I haven't tried the shakes yet, but it's on my list for one of these days. The app is really easier to order, which should be a given, but it amazes me how bad other establishment make their order process in the app. Easy layout, easy to customize, and easy to re-order a favorite. The speed at which my food is ordered, prepared, and available is very reasonable. By the time I place the order in the app and arrive at the location 7 minutes later, the order is ready. The team here is also great. They always meet people with a smile and attentiveness. Clearly, they prioritize the in-person experience by being available and engaging every time someone needs something. I also appreciate that they can see everything in the eating area and can monitor if someone needs something. Wayback Burger is my go-to these days, which is great considering I have at least 10 other options just as close as Wayback is to me. I am never concerned that what I am craving to eat will be anything less than what is delivered. read more

This build your own bowl was just not good. I had high hopes - picking two proteins and a lettuce base with tomatoes. What I got looked like dog food! Almost no tomatoes, very little lettuce base, the proteins didn't taste right or good. I asked for Swiss and there was a melted clump in the middle. Really crummy meal, and expensive, too! $16 for a meal that ended up not being eaten. We will stick with Five Guys. read more

Wayback Burgers was my choice for lunch. It is in the Wheatfield Shopping Center in Wake Forest. Parking was easy enough to find at lunch. I had checked out the menu online so was puzzled at first when only part of the menu was listed on the wall. The full menus are hidden in front of the cash register if you don't want to order one of the pricey burgers. You could also order on the website. I was greeted when I entered by both employees and given some time to look over the menu. I went with the single patty as I wasn't sure if the double would be too much for me. I was happy with the single and liked I could customize it with cheddar cheese and tomato and lettuce. I added on fries and a drink and thought the amount of fries was very generous. It was a good burger and the single was a good size for me. My name was taken for my order and I thought I'd be called when it was ready and it was but it was also delivered to the table. Restaurant was clean upon entry and service was attentive. They were a bit busy and probably understaffed for the traffic that was there when we visited. Food was made fresh when I ordered so there's a bit of a longer wait than some might expect. I think it's a good burger spot especially for the price. It's not a "McDonald's burger" :) I ordered the Carolina burger. I'm always a bit skeptical of people's slaw and chili around here because it's the south, we like our slaw and chili a certain way but it was very good. Wayback Burgers is a relatively new addition to the recently completed Wheatfield Shopping Plaza on Forestville Road in Wake Forest. It's nice, it's clean and there is ample parking. The staff were friendly and attentive. My order came out quick and was brought to the table. I went with the A-1 Burger with a side of onion rings (breath mint needed after). It was good and tasty. The onions rings could have been a bit crisper and they needed more seasoning. They offer an array of dipping sauces for them. I went with the chiplote. It went well with the rings. Overall a 3.75. I'll definitely be back to try one of the other burgers soon and maybe the free milk shake I have for signing up for the text alerts. read more

Went to Wayback Burger for the first time. Had a huge hamburger craving and wanted to try something new. I was a little taken aback at the prices, so was really hoping for a great burger. The burgers were good, but nothing special to write home about. We got singles as we thought this would be enough, with no sides. Either get double or a side of you are hungry. You walk up to the counter to order and I do have to say that every was very clean and I was promptly asked for my order. I let them know I had ordered on line. The did this while sitting in the parking lot as I didn't just want to stand in front of a menu reading everything before I ordered. Glad I went in almost immediately as the Yelp app told me my food would be ready in 25 minutes. They weren't busy at all so my food was ready fast. All in all not bad, but there are much better places to get a great burger for the same price (or less). read more

A new outlet of chain Wayback Burgers is open in Wake Forest. Located in the new(ish) Wheatfield Commons strip center on Rogers Branch Road. Stopped in for lunch during the soft opening. It's a small shop, with a dozen tables. Order at the counter at the back, dine-in food is delivered to the table. It's a basic menu - a couple of pre-configured burgers, or build your own. Fries and onion rings plus shakes. Service is friendly and quick. Food is prepared to order. The team is well staffed and despite the fact that the shop was busy, time from order to service was less than 10 minutes. I tried the Classic. A nice sized patty is prepared medium/well - just a little pink. It's topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, chopped raw onion and pickle. Meat prepared perfectly. Toppings crisp and fresh and the whole thing is piping hot when served. Can't beat a well-executed burger. Fries are skin-on, thick cut. Lightly salted. Served nice and crispy, as fries should be. Fair warning - this is a fairly expensive burger. Not exactly at bargain at $8.29. Delicious, yes. A good spot for the occasional splurge, yes. A regular stop for a quick burger at lunch? Good quality meat. Burger is a little greasy kind of like Freddy's. The staff is very friendly. On their anniversary they gave everybody a travel mug. My only complaint is the fountain soda had that flat ammonia taste. I got the bacon bourbon burger, and it's two patties with onion rings. It's very good. I think on its own it's ten bucks. Went for first time tonight. The flyer on front window said $12 special. So we ordered 2 and she took the order but didn't say the 'special' was ONLY on 1 per order!!?? After looking at receipt, we asked why - she only said "only 1 special per family" So - we asked to refund the order - she replied she could only 'void' and we wouldn't see charge. I like this new burger place. It's always been clean and appropriately staffed and the burgers are tasty. I've had the classic and the single so far. More expensive than a trip to McDonalds or something, but you get what you pay for. I do think they should add some background music for ambiance. read more

Went for family dinner - the place is clean, the staff is very friendly and they were orderly in their approach and service. The food was "ok" - first bite into burger and I thought it was kind of plain but eating the rest of it, it was just an "ok/forgettable" burger - nothing specifically wrong, nothing specifically right or outstanding... but the pricing would have you think it would be outstanding. I can't say that I felt 3 burgers and 2 fries that were "ok" were worth $40. Not saying I wouldn't go back to give it a try a second time, but will say there are better options around locally when I want an outstanding/memorable burger and fries. read more

Well we went back today after about a month and the staff recognized us as we placed online orders. Super fast super friendly and great food every time. Would recommend to anyone. Wayback burger being a fairly new restaurant to the area, surpasses multiple mediocre burger restaurants around WF. Nevertheless, I'd recommend the place to family and neighbors. Service was slow, cashier decided to help in the kitchen by while customers lined up (5 employees already working in kitchen. not sure how a 6th person wouldn't help) . Likely this was instructed by the owner but made for an unwelcoming experience seeing the other customers neglected for 3 minutes. New and clean with a pleasant greeting of "Welcome to Wayback " upon entry. Only order a single custom for our child. We placed are order ahead and was ready upon arrival with in 10mins. Ordering in the app was very easy and menu was very easy to deal with. Better the McD's app. Burger was warm, slightly toasted bun, plenty of cheese. Smash burger style so it was cooked medium and very similar to a Five guys but no where near as greasy. I will say the size of a single is on the smaller size. We were super excited to eat at way back burgers! It was our first time here. We spent 60 dollars with a tip and had someone of the most basic food ever. We spent 8 dollars on the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It tasted like straight butter. We thought maybe it was the caramel we didn't like as there was a lot of it. We went back and got another shake. The chocolate brownie shake, same issues. Almost 20 dollars thrown away because it was frankly undrinkable. Upon telling them about the issue and asking if they do put butter in the shakes the only response we get is "maybe, I don't know if the ice cream has it".
