Just had the best burger I've had in Riviera Maya at The Burger Underground in Puerto Morelos The menu says no fillers, and they ain't lying! It was clearly a hand made patty, cooked to a perfect medium And deserving their own shout out are the hot, hand cut fries cooked probably the best I have had here as well. I know it's kind of strange to go to a Mexican fishing village for burgers but if you are in the area, I recommend! We walked to the listed address on Ave Ninos Heroes and were disappointed not to find them there. They must have recently one block closer to the beach. They are now located at Ave Javier Rojo Gomez Lt 11 Sm 2 Mz 15. I had the Charly, my girl had the Trish. Both of them 10++. There comes a time in every man's life that he realizes he does not know everything and must be willing to give things a chance. That day came yesterday. After 5 days of vacationing in Paradise and eating amazing Mexican and seafood 3 times a day I hit a wall. The wall that says nothing is good and I just want something else. Men, we've all been there. So while walking past this place day after day and saying to myself it's a burger joint in Mexico it can't be good, I decided to look up the reviews. Upon doing so, they were all raving about the burgers. So I did what every man would do I hemmed and hawed to my wife that's what I wanted and we walked over. Once at the front of the establishment I did again what every man does and second guessed myself and told my wife let's walk around the block to just to make sure there was nothing else we wanted. We made that loop and it was go time. No more stalling, no more excuses, just the decision on what to order. The menu has a great selection but the burger that caught my eye was called "The Big E". After talking to the owner Joe, a Detroit native, he explained that it was created as a nod to the Big Mac. I won't go into all the details here but I honestly could not stop eating it. The meat to bun, pickle and special sauce was spot on. My wife ordered The Little E" and left two bites but struggled not finishing it. Again to be clear this is a legit burger that truly shocked me. If you have the chance or already have visited Puerto Morelos put this on your list. Joe and his staff are truly great people and love what they do and it shows. read more

I am a cheeseburger aficionado, and this is one of the best I have had that is not one of those fancy Truffle burgers. This is the straight up real deal, quality meat, fresh toppings, cooked perfectly to order, and the fries are fresh cut. The Parmesan garlic are to die for. A tiny place with several freshly made gourmet burger options, like pineapple, guacamole and jalapeños, but each time we chose the Jane, just a regular old burger with American cheese--so freaking good! We ate there at least 4 times during our two week stay in PM. Would have been five times but we got back to town too late and they were closed! Very reasonably priced. AND they deliver. We tried their chicken wings, which were also excellent! Fries on point too! A short walk from the center of town (or from The Fives Beachfront where we were staying). Me and my girl were visiting Riviera Maya on vacation and got really tired of the mass produced resort food. I was craving a burger and this place did not disappoint. Good burger no matter where you're at or where you're from. I just got a basic bacon cheeseburger and it was great, cheese was good, bacon was crisp the way it should be. The girl got a burger that had pineapple and avocado. She said it was fantastic. We shared fries and they were so good. Probably should have each gotten our own after tasting them. Meat quality was better than any other burger joint in QRoo. Fries good too, although not consistent because sometimes they are way too greasy since they didn't let them drain well after pulling from the fryer. I do feel they at least use fresh grease (not old used grease in the fryer.) In my experience as a restaurant owner/operator, I believe the fries would be better and not absorb the oil if the oil were hotter. read more

Having spent all of 2019 and all pre-Covid 2020 on the International Burger Tour, I can say with confidence that I'd eat here again, I'd tell my kids to eat here and I'd strongly urge you to try it if you're in the mood for a bodacious burger and fries done right without a lotta fanfare or foofy bullshit that some of the other burger joints, all over the world, try to burden the consumer with. Excellent burgers in a seafood town. They hand cut the taters for french fries so they are tasty! There's another burger place across the street from the salchicha food truck collection on Calle Javier Gomez but the Burger Underground is MUCH better. I don't think they have a beer license but just grab a couple at the OXXO convenience store a couple doors down and you're in for a very filling well prepared satisfying meal. read more

I have been following Puerto Morelos online for several months and The Burger Underground was often favorably mentioned. So when I came to PM for my first time this week, I had to try this place. I did not think that the burger would be anything great. Coming from the United States, I know what a good burger is. You typically don't find a great burger here in Mexico. This time I was wrong! The meat was juicy and full of flavor and the bun was lightly crispy and crumbly. The fries were awesome and blew away many of the fries you get back home! Plus the owner Joe, and his staff, were friendly, fun and helpful too. This place is now on my list for one of my favorite burger places anywhere and I can't wait to come back.
